If you live in Houston, or probably Texas, you have heard of Reliant Energy. Reliant is one of the two largest Retail Electricity Providers in Texas, and is owned by Princeton, New Jersey based company NRG. They have all the bells and whistles that you would expect from one of the two Incumbent electricity providers servicing the Texas Deregulated markets: Variable, Fixed, and Indexed electricity plans; Green energy plans for the environmentally conscious; Online account management and auto-billing. Still, they do not have any kind of incentive programs for customers in the form of discounted bills, customer rewards, or sign-up bonuses. Reliant energy has been in the business for decades, they have great PUC complaint statistics, they are the only provider that offers Variable, Fixed, and Indexed plans to customers, but their lack of customer incentives is a detractor. They are very much a "What you see is what you get" company, and for Reliant, this is in no way a bad thing.
