Bill has doubled

  I am going to switch due to the sharp increase in my bill over the summer. My apt is 750 sq. feet, and I kept my thermostat set at 82 during the day, 78 at night. My bill went from about $50 in July to $90 in August. This month (September), I have turned my air off between 7:30 am and 7:00 pm, and kept it at 82 at night. My expected bill will still be $81. A co-worker lives in a house with twice the square footage and keeps her thermostat set below 70 at night. Her bill is only $140.

I have not tried talking with customer service. The account management is easy, I think, the high prices are just not worth it.

Will not own up to mistakes!

  I've just had probably one of the WORST customer service situations with Reliant! BEWARE. I rarely complain about a company but I will here. I had our utilities transferred to our new address over a year ago and then a few months ago we start getting bills in the mail for a different account that was started under my name at the same address that I was at before. The account had been opened for a few months before we contacted Reliant asking them what was going on. After talking to at least 5 different people we were told to send in paperwork proving we lived at our apartment that we had been paying utilities on for over a year already. We did that and then apparently that was not enough to "resolve the balance" and they were going to still make us pay it after more than likely they made the mistake and opened the account up on their own. So, we were required to fill out an Identity Theft Affidavit of which the police would not fill out their required section because they did not see it as identity theft but as Reliant's error. This issue has been going on for a few months now but they have finally taken the balance off my current account and have since closed the other account. I had to jump through so many hoops to prove a very obvious point: I did not setup a new account at my old apartment after I transferred our utilities to the new one. Why would I do that?! And still no apology or credit given after I had taken so much of my time to fill out paperwork, email, talk on the phone, and go to the police station twice to figure this thing out. I've been a loyal customer for 4 years now and I've paid all of my bills on time. This is how they treat people. Awful. We are finished with Reliant.

Deceptive company

  They told me if I signed up for Auto Pay, they would not charge me late fees.
Now they have for two months.
They have deceptive Bracket rates, i.e. if you use
550 kWh they charge you for 1000kwh; if you use 1100 kWh they charge for 1500 kWh.

Simple Power To Cirro

  I had been with Simple Power for two years, Wonderful company, low rates, a simple billing and automatic credit card payment system, an understandable bill with everything bundled in to one total.

Every month my bill consisted of Kwh used times rate(.091) equalling amount owed plus taxes of $1.50 to $2.00 or so.

Then I get a letter saying Cirro has bought the company. Went to the web to check out their Terms of Service and Electricity Facts Label. Incomprehensible. Phoned them and after half an hour was little the wiser.

I THINK that if I stay with them after my Simple Power contract expires I'll get a rate of .0856 per Kwh and a bill like this:

Usage + $5.25 Base Charge + TDU pass thru or whatever of $5.87 + Taxes.

I checked how this would compare to an old Simple Power bill using 475 Kwh.

Simple Power $45.09
Cirro $53.17

PS: I also checked out TXU, Reliant and about 10 other providers. Even more incomprehensible than Cirro. TXU and Reliant terrible.

Hidden Fees; Terrible Service

  I signed up for Summer Energy under the understanding that they had no minimum usage fees. Not the case.

I am enrolled in auto pay, so the payment is automatically drafted from my bank account each month. For several months in the Fall they mailed me disconnect notices, then charged my account for the notice. The problem is I had paid each bill on time. They said that because they warned me that it would be disconnected if I didn't pay, I had to pay for the notice fees.

Their customer service is awful. They are lazy and don't try to help you. I was told multiple times that my account would be credited and prices would be fixed after they raised our rate in the middle of our plan. They admitted a mistake on their part - that's fine, things happen. It took me 4 charges and almost 2 weeks to get them to set the price back correctly. I was told since this was on their end and I had been asking for 2 weeks prior to bill due date that they would not charge late fees. When I paid my bill there was a late fee.

The bottom line is, if you value customer service and don't want to fight tooth and nail for the plan you signed up for, do not sign with Summer Energy! I was excited about a low rate and that simply didn't happen. Our bills are consistently $200+ and we live in a second floor 2 bedroom apartment.

A total rip-off

  Used to pay $170/month with TXU when we lived in the house. I changed to Infuse Energy when my house became empty in order to reduce my bill. Conclusion: now I pay more than $400.00/month with Infuse Energy for an empty house. Unbelievable! stay away from this company.

Horrible Customer Service

  I went through an out salesman to get electricity. I was promised to have deposit waived, just email the salemam my DL in which I've done. Not only did I do everything asked. They gave me false hope by telling me someone will email/call to start my service... NO CALLS or EMAILS. Reached out to xoom for status...NO ONE HAD ONE FOR ME, had to send status update to another dept and was advised to call back in a few days. Called back a week later was given an acct # to make my deposit and what do you know, DIDNT WORK. Once again, I reached out to the salesman and xoom energy regarding to the issue. Rep named Diego told me to give 10 mins and try again...DIDN'T WORK. Spoke to another rep right after and was told to reenroll..ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME. So not only was I lied about having deposit waived. I lost the lowest rate that was given and now I have to reenroll. NEVER AGAIN. ABSOLUTELY THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE Ive ever got. I will not recommend them to anyone.

RIP OFF

  This is one of the biggest rip-off companies I've ever dealt with. They bill you starting the day you do not pay $10 for a disconnect notice which cost them just a few pennies to send. Then 14 days after you miss one payment you're disconnected they want a deposit and a big reconnection fee. They are just greedy. Most electric companies let you go a full and tire cycle and pay the next due date without any penalty at all which is what I'm used to. Not these scam artists. Oh and did I tell you that they cut my power off in the middle of an ice storm and refuse to turn it on until the next day. I thought there was something against the law that they could even do that at a time where you could freeze to death. I canceled my service will never go back with them. FYI I talked for an hour and 15 minutes to get my $10 fee removed today and it did work you just have to keep complaining and keep asking for somebody else. So do not believe them when they tell you they can't do it. They can you just have to make enough noise. Ambit, you should have listened to me earlier today now you're going to have to listen to everybody else just like me because now they know that they can get their money back if they make enough noise. The way to get their attention is to tell whoever is on the line I'm sorry you do not have the authority to do this but I know someone does so get me somebody with some Authority because apparently you just answer phone calls I need a person with a real job. I finally got someone with a real job and they gave me my $10 back to stop listening to me.

Horrible Service

  This is the worst service I have ever received in the 10yrs that I have been with TXU. I talked to a "supervisor" who could not resolve my problems. I have been on hold, on and off for over 2hrs. If you can stay away from this large company, please do. I'm done with horrible service while paying for it. I'd rather use a kerosine lantern than stay with TXU. HORRIBLE SERVICE!!!!!

Junk Mail Fraud

  I called TXU after getting yet another mail offer from them on which there was no detail of the fees they charge or the rate they will charge for electricity. I told the guy to remove my name from their mailing list because their junk mail did not include all the rates and charges anywhere on it. He started to argue with me and said what I said was not true and that he would "disclose" the 'rates' but carefully avoided saying those rates and all the other fees they are going to bill the customer are in the mail piece. Never call a customer a liar.

TXU in my opinion, rotten from the top down and has been for decades. They have not learned that QUALITY has no meaning outside what the customer wants. What they and their saudi stockholders want does not matter.

One thing all customers want is a complete account of every charge in bold type at the top of the page on every piece of paper from them and on ever web site they publish. Instead we get marketing lingo and cute names and clever slogans. None of which are substance.

How can we distinguish TXU from crooks and scam-artists if they use exactly the same words and techniques as do the worst of frauds?
