There are a lot of plans out there. And if you pick one that isn’t suited to your home, you could end up paying WAY more than you should for electricity. To better understand what types of energy plans you should look for in Dallas, you need to know how many kilowatts used in the average size home.

What is the Average Size Home?

The average home size has been growing for decades. In the early 1990s, 2,000 sq ft homes were the average size. Well, the average size for a home in the Oncor service area built between 2010 – 2016 was 2,613 sq. ft. So, just slightly above average. Everything’s bigger in Texas, after all.

While “modern” homes tend to be bigger, there are still a lot of older, smaller homes in use. So, it’s no surprise to find many Texans living in homes that are 2,000 sq ft or greater that are considered average-sized.

How Many Kilowatt Does the Average Texas Home Use?

Home Professionals lay this out clearly stating that “the average 2,000 sq. ft.
