Looking at a shorter time range, the Houston area Consumer Price Index<\/a> for energy increased by 2.1 percent between the end of December 2021 and the end of February 2022. Most of the increase is tied to a 7.9-percent uptick in gasoline. Comparing over a one-year period, the overall Consumer Price Index rose by 7.8 percent. This is below the national figure yet is still higher than most would care to see. The price for Houston electricity<\/a> rose 3.5 percent over this one-year timeframe.
