Reviews from Cedar Hill:

Great service! Love the features!

(5 / 5)

Wow! I have been very impressed with Champion Energy. The customer service I have received from them was very professional. I love how I can get weekly emails to let me know how much power I have used throughout the week. The website is easy to navigate as well. This is my 2nd time I have been with Champion Energy and I look forward to keeping my business with them.

No problems, good rates, 5 years with them so far.

I have not had any problems with them, setup autopay for billing. Even got them to "pricematch" one year when they were a little higher than others. I would recommend them.

Champion Service

(4.2 / 5)

Except for paying the bill, I expect my relationship with a service provider to be completely uneventful. I should be able to take it for granted that it will provide the energy I need when I need it. Champion does not disappoint. I am very pleased with my service.

Pricey, but Good Service

(4.2 / 5)

I have been a TXU customer for 10 years (2 years in an apartment and 8 years in a house). I have had absolutely no issues ever with TXU in their customer service, billing or overall service. It is energy plan renewal time for me right now, and I'm doing my research to compare TXU to other companies. While I am tempted to switch to another company based on price, I am reluctant to leave a company that has been quite satisfactory over the years. It saddened me to see all the negative reviews regarding TXU, which prompted me to share my own positive experiences with TXU. It seems that most negative reviews are based on misunderstanding of how billing works - a consumer must consider delivery fees, base fees if minimum usage is not achieved, etc. TXU's customer service has been quite pleasing. I don't have the need to call very often, but I always speak to friendly, helpful associates when I do call. I even remember sending a complimentary e-mail a year ago to recognize an especially helpful associate when renewing into my current energy plan. TXU has been a great company for me, and I would absolutely not think twice about renewing my energy plan with them if their prices were slightly lower.

Great People but Pricey

(4.1 / 5)

They are a great electric company with nice people who love what they do but they are expensive. Renewable energy is just not cheap I guess.

Ok, but getting expensive.

(4 / 5)

I have been with this company for several years and the only complaint is that it's getting very expensive, lately I've gotten onto a V.R.P. (variable rate plan) and it has gotten atrocious; 13.4 this month. I'm needing to sign-up to something else, due to this being month to month, since I haven't a contract. They do have fairly long plans, but like I said earlier, prices are going up. Overall, a very reliable company. Very easy to contact the company, and the few issues I had were not a problem to resolve. Thanks!

REnewed many times but.......conflicted

(3.2 / 5)

I am a long time Customer of Startex and I am so very conflicted because I had this service at two residences. Before the merger they were so superb. I referred friends to this company. Since Oct 2010, I have not been totally happy but tolerant of the services. . It is time to review and renew my services again and. I am leaning to shopping around. My rates end on 060213 and I have spoke to the customer service but. I wasn't happy with the response. Two years ago I was over charged with the smart meter installed on the new home I bought. HOHUM HOHUM, It was only me in the home at the time. I don't think I would recommend I only had one lost check, My mother was mad about it. Still conflicted.

Customer Service Sucks

(2 / 5)

I had an incident where I paid for my lights & they show a positive balance but Direct Energy (power to go) still disconnected my service. No one could tell me why this happened & after 4 hours, the electricity was still not turned on. Mind you I am 34 weeks pregnant & on bed rest. I spoke to a rude rep named Audrey who kept over talking me & telling me the same thing over and over that I was going to have to wait close to midnight before my lights could be turned on when they turned them off at 2:30. That's ridiculous!! I have been with them for several years and this is the second time this has happened and no one could tell me why BOTH TIMES. I will be taking my services elsewhere especially if they have employees who are rude to loyal customers.

Unexplained charges

(1.4 / 5)

We have been with this provider for about 5 years and have had major issues with incorrect billing/charges over the last few months. Payments not being credited appropriately etc. Customer service department is rude and lacks the basic knowledge to address your concerns. Currently shopping for a new provide. The 200 dollars to break the contract will be well worth it.

Let the games begin or continue ...

(1 / 5)

I signed-on and tried to see my renewal offer and after entering the renewal code the StarTex website pops up a message saying it doesn't appear I'm within a renewal period. That was FAIL#1. My service ends in 12 days which is within the 14 day window. So I called. Based on past calls to customer service I was prepared to be quickly annoyed. I asked for a 12 month quote. 7.1 cents per KWH and no minimum usage charge. I asked about a "base charge" (I have one on my current plan), then he mentions a "usage credit". That was FAIL#2. These providers are playing games! With all the credits, surcharges, etc. it's difficult to figure out what exactly YOU will be paying based on your usage. I opted to switch to a company that offered a reasonable flat rate per kwh + the Oncor delivery rate per kwh + 5.25 Oncor standard, and no minimum usage penalty fee, no base rate, and no "usage credit" B.S.. The combined rate is less than 7.1 cents and there's no telling what the parameters are at StarTex to get the 7.1. These companies are playing games to get themselves listed at a low 1 cent at the 1000 kwh level on powertochoose. I see one company that is 1 cent at the 1000 kwh but 11 cents at 2000 kwh which is what you'd probably be paying in the summer while running the A/C. The dishonesty and deception of the people running these companies is mind boggling! The "Electricity Facts Label" was supposed to simplify comparisons but the companies go out of their way to obfuscate their rates. As always, buyer beware.

FRAUD

(1 / 5)

This I the WORST company I have EVER dealt with. I have paid TXU almost 1500.00 in a 3 month for a house that is less than 1500 sq ft. I got my first bill over $500 and freaked out....so I turned my central heat OFF completely. Yet for two additional months my bill continues to increase the last one being 578.00 . They continue to say its because of my heater..NOT TRUE ITS NOT ON!!! I believe they must be charging me based !!on my neighbors usage...the reps are not helpful and sound scripted.. Again worst compay

DO NOT USE THEM!!

(0 / 5)

My husband went to pay our bill on thursday. On friday our lights were off. I called customer service with my conformaiton number only to be told that it can take up to 3-4 business days for my lights to be turned on. The customer service rep tells me it is becuase my husband didnt pay at ACE CHECK CASHING! Yet when i called to find out where i could pay the bill at since my credit card was stolen the customer service rep just said any check cashing place. So my husband went to the closest one ot our home. Friday was my sons 18th birthday party at our house that we couldnt have becasue they turned our services off. We even talked to a manager who also informed us that they can NOT turn them back on til 3-4 business days for the payment to process. WTH!! I am switiching services ASAP!! They were rude and very unhelpful. Even with the people from the Check Cashing telling them the payment was paid and proceseed they would NOT listen NOR help us. THANK YOU JUST ENERGY FOR SCREWING UP MY SONS 18TH BIRTHDAY!!!
