Signed up with Our Energy few years back. They always offer the best rates in the market for renewal so I stay with them. My personnel experience of customer service has been good. I have read some reviews about the payments issue but I use ACH and never had an issue. I don't usually use bank-pay therefore I can't really comment on the issues mentioned in the comments. I have been a long time customer of this company. They have been working with me whenever I needed any assistance. No issues so far. I really like this company. I have had my new plan for 3 months now on a 12 month plan, Website is very friendly, bills are laid out nice, had no problems at all signing up for the plan initially. Like some of the other reviewers, I experienced two late payments over the last couple of years, even though I send in my payment well before the due date. This is the only vendor I've had this problem with, so I'm sure my US mail was not the issue. Each time, when I called, they said they hadn't received my check, but I didn't believe them; each time my check was posted later. To avoid all this trouble, I've gone to paying on line, which is a bit of a hassle also because they don't save my banking info; I have to enter the routing# and account# twice each to do this, but at least my payment gets posted in a timely manner. I am very happy with the plan I'm on, a fixed rate per kwh regardless of the amount of electricity used, so that offsets my frustration with the billing.

Our Energy is very bad at processing payments if you use anything other than their own system. Personally, I use bill pay through my bank. I always schedule payments within a week of due date but on multiple occasions it has taken Our Energy 5-10 days after the scheduled bill pay delivery date to actually process it which ends up after the due date and then they immediately send out their pink non-payment disconnection notice letters. Not only is it a waste but it's totally erroneous since as a customer I did what I'm supposed to. They are the ones slow to process payments. When my contract is up I will look for another provider.

I have a billing due on Nov 18th. My credit card on file had expired, the disconnect me for non payment on Nov 4th. No phone call (although Sonia in customer service said they did say they may have called and not left a message). Will be terminating plan when contract is up.

That depends on who you ask. There will always be someone who feels wronged by a company, no matter how good they actually are. The average OUR Energy customer review is 2.2 / 5 stars. Keep in mind, consumers will go out of their way to complain far more often than they will to give praise.
Why is my electricity rate higher than when I signed up?
The rate you see when you sign up is the average rate at that exact amount of usage in one billing cycle. Some companies try to game the system by applying bill credits between certain usage thresholds. It works great if you are within the margins, but as soon as you leave that band you no longer get that bill credit and your rate per kWh can double. The PUC only requires that companies disclose their average rates at 500, 1000, and 2000 kWhs. Companies can get around this by giving you a $50 bill credit if you use between 1000 and 2000 kWhs per billing cycle. The only way to really know what you're getting into is to read your EFL. A 10¢ rate at all usage amounts may end up being cheaper than that 8¢ rate at 1,000 kWh!
