Renewing with Star Tex

(5 / 5)

My contract with Star Tex was about to expire, so I spent much time researching various plans and rates offered by providers in our area. I wanted to see if I could secure a better rate with a company that also scored well on customer satisfaction. After an exhausting search, I called Star Tex to clarify information on their website; all my questions were answered thoroughly in a patient and easy-to-understand manner by customer service agent Ashley. Based on past personal experience, as well as current information, I have chosen to renew with Star Tex.

4 Change Energy is simply one of the best companies in terms of pricing transparency and service

(5 / 5)

I have only great things to say about 4 Change Energy. I have started receiving service from them about two years ago. Prior to that Green Mountain Energy was my provider. I consider Green Mountain Energy to be absolutely the worst company in every way. I am so happy that I have switched to 4 Change Energy

Lived in Texas for 4 years now and had other Electric Companies in the past but nothing like 4 Change Energy. And I hope you continue to give your best to your costumers.

Seamless Transition

(5 / 5)

My prior electricity provider increased my rates once again for the next contract cycle. While I'd been reluctant to switch in the past, I did my research and found that 4 Change not only had very competitive rates, they support good causes. I'd heard that switching providers can sometimes be a challenge . . . not with 4 Change. They took care of all the details and my transition to them was seamless.

AMAZING Customer Service & New Rates!!

(5 / 5)

We just started to check into getting lower rates by comparing online. Our current rates were significantly higher. Through this research I ran across the reviews for TXU who is our provider and has been for 10 years, I was extremely concerned with the very poor reviews. I decided to email the address that TXU used in their review responses. Well my email was sent at 3:00 pm, the first read receipt from TXU was 3:01 pm, TXU employee Elaine Garza ID#XL1L called me at 3:42 pm and was outstanding!! Explained all our options, ran bill comparisons for several periods, explained everything on our bill by line item and how our new bill would look, get our new plan started with our last meter reading even though we were mid cycle etc.etc.etc. I've rarely had exceptional customer service and certainly did not expect it from a huge energy provider but I have to say she provided EXCEPTIONAL customer service!! She got us significantly reduced rates and I will be sure to provide feedback on these once we get our first bill.

We loved Champion - just wish their rates were more competitive these days!

(4 / 5)

We've been Champion customers for three years and it's been a real delight. The rates we had when we started with them actually went down with each renewal. Unlike other companies, they do not seem to offer new customers better deals than current, loyal customers. Dealing with customer service has always been a pleasure as well - very short hold times and the reps are courteous and knowledgeable.

I just wish that their rates were more competitive. Our last 12 month contract expired, and they were almost a full cent higher than the competition so I went on a one month fixed rate extension that was competitive while I shopped around in the hope that Champion's rates for longer term agreements would drop in the interim. Unfortunately, that did not happen and the entire marketplace has actually gone up a little in the past 30 days. I was able to find a 'new customers only' offer from Reliant, who was our provider prior to Champion and have arranged to move to them. The Champion rep asked if she could see if they can do something to keep our business and I'm hoping they will be able to but otherwise we'll leave.

Gist of this review - Champion is great if you can get competitive rates from them but it seems that right now at least, you have to be willing to pay a premium for their service. (I hope I don't find that it would have been worth it but feel that we need to try a different company given the savings being offered.)

Threatened to cut my service when I was 5 days late

(2.8 / 5)

I have been a customer for over 4 year - never a late payment. I mistakenly entered the wrong date on bill pay (one month later). The first notice (5 days after the due date) was an email disconnect notice. Wow. I paid the bill immediately and sent an email to that effect with a note that I entered the wrong date. One week later I received a paper cut off notice. I contacted two email customer service addresses (one on the cut off notice and one on their website) to tell them how I was unhappy with how they handled this issue. No one has responded. Really? Pathetic.

Billing Issues

(2.4 / 5)

During the year of service contracted, I had no issues. Bills arrived, they were promptly paid and never heard anything good or bad from them. After the end of the contract and paying my final bill is when I received a letter accusing me of non-payment, breach of contract and threatening with all sorts of legal actions. I sent them my Proof of Payment issued by the Bank for this $7 payment sent almost a month ago, and expect to clear this up promptly.
They just guaranteed a non-returning customer with their attitude.

Disappointing Service from Coppell

They obviously don't want my service

(2.2 / 5)

I've been with True Electric for a couple of years. Never had a problem until the past few months. There was a problem with the auto payment, which pretty much just snowballed into a ton of extra fees, missing manual payments, and disconnect notices. Every time I call customer service I have to listen to their horrible hold music (the worst I've ever heard) and then they just tell me my balance is zero. But that doesn't fix anything because I just got ANOTHER disconnect notice. Called again, and told them how annoying this all is and was offered NOTHING to make it better. In fact, the only thing I was offered was an email of all the notices they'd sent me. Thanks, True Electric. Fantastic job. Currently looking for a new company.

bad online chat customer service

(2 / 5)

it's about time for my current plan expires, and I followed the previous representative's advice to wait for one month and then check back to see what plans are available. So, today I login back and connect through online chat customer service and asking for help with the available plans detail. This online chat customer representative does NOT show patience with me, and just keep pushing me to stick with current plan with rude attitude as how I feel , and just keep saying the plan they offered me is the lowest rate plan I can find any where else, and say they offer lower rates of renewal than new customers plans; which turned out not true while I provided him what I found on line, but he simply replied that's not available for renewal. then I asked for what other plans available, so i can consider, he just impatiently reply average rates of two plans and then then end the conversation, not even asking if I have any further question. very rude attitude.
I have to say that, I never got so disappointed with Reliant as being a customer with Reliant for 4 years.

TXU is way more expensive than everyone else

(2 / 5)

Dont believe their lies about cash back, coupons, free nights etc. . They still gouge you and laugh at you by throwing those Papa Johns coupons.
I have been with them from 2003 and never realized how much more I was paying till recently when I went to powertochoose.org and compared.
They not only charge higher KW/hr rate, but their TDU charge and other exotic named line items is a ripoff. You can find more info here http://www.txu.com/residential/customer-care/tdu-delivery-charges.aspx
Their TDU is an extra 2.62 c per KW/h plus a fixed fee of $6.24
I switched to Summer Energy under a 12 month promo plan and I am paying 7.8c per KW/hr plus a base charge of $2.97 ... thats it.
I was going back on TXU bills and every month I was paying $40 - $100 (depending on usage) more with TXU compared to what I would have paid with Summer Energy.
They did call me and sent me $250 debit card to switch back !! They will recover that in the first couple of months of their new 2 yr contract .... I am never going back to TXU.
Check with powertochoose.org and find companies that clearly state what the charges are in the Electricity fact label and dont charge usage based TDU.

TXU's buggy website leads to much confusion

(1.8 / 5)

I attempted to sign up with TXU using their website, and had made a plan choice, entered all sorts of information, and such. When I finally got to the page to enter personal contact information, the page looped back to the start of the process. I assumed the order had failed and decided another company deserved my business more, so I signed on to OurEnergy with no problems.

On the day of plan switchover I discovered that TXU had actually received my order, and bumped out OurEnergy. This is a big problem - customer contact information should be the very first part of an order process so that TXU can send notification of the order status to either email or phone.

Furthermore, compared to GEXA and OurEnergy, their customer service wait times are stratospheric.I estimate I wasted 2 hours of effort on these knuckleheads.

TXU has horrible customer service

(0.9 / 5)

Txu cut my electricity off for no reason other than they made a mistake. I owed them no money and my next bill was not due. Their customer service people are in the Philipines and did nothing other than put me on hold and hang up repeatedly. Now they are giving me the run around about re- imbursing me and just trying to screw me for their mistake.

Cirro replaces Simple Power

(0.6 / 5)

This is the first review of anything I have written, and I realize people usually write reviews when they are angry. However, Cirro Energy bought out Simple Power a few months ago, and immediately my bills went up. I knew that the cents/kilowatt hour would increase, but my kilowatt hours increased significantly when they put in a new meter. They also increased significantly during a month where I had moved out of the apartment had no furniture, no air on, nothing plugged in. The only thing consistently drawing energy was my energy efficient refrigerator. Calling Cirro to correct, they told me there would be a fee they went out to check the meter and I was wrong... which I also expected. I asked them what if their meter wasn't working? And they said it was impossible, their meters are always working and that oncor would probably not check whether the meter was accurate because they have perfect meters. So lots of $$$ later, Cirro will no longer be my provider.

New Bill is 50% Lower!!

(0 / 5)

I previously reported exceptional customer service and was waiting on my new bill to see if everything they promised came through. Our bill looked exactly as we were told it would and was 50% lower with the new rate plan they put us on!! I'm not sure why all the bad comments since our experience was awesome!!
