Consistent LOW rates

  My 4th year with 4Change energy. Oh, I check other companies at every renewal time but so far have had NO reason to change. Others offer short term savings (maybe) but upon reading the fine, print find out differently. So far my renewals with 4Change have remained fairly consistent with my original "sign up" plan. I'm a firm believer in: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it......"

  I have been with them for a month now and I really like what I see. They are very straightforward, and have great prices. Electricity in our house has been exactly what I would expect from a major provider. I can see my electricity usage through the month in 15 minute increments online. I have auto-payments set up online some I never miss a payment (which our local water utility doesn't have so it makes me like Champion even more).

If you use under 1000 kWh

  I had to switch from the best company out there because they don't appreciate my efforts to conserve energy and now they (Spark Energy) will charge $8.99 if I go under 1000 kWh. Getting set up with Champion's online bill payment wasn't smooth like at Spark, but I think I did it. Clicked on several "set up recurring payment" links before I got one that actually did that. The first links took me to pay bill, which you can't do on first bill because it will incur a charge of like $4. My account still says I'm on one time payments, so we will see if I successfully enrolled. From reading other reviews, I know that I'd better be on top of it and be sure it all happened or I might get a disconnect notice. But Champion doesn't charge for under 1000. They do charge for under 500, but it is only about $5. So it is the company for the 'small fry'. They do have very patient customer service reps also, so if you stay on top of bill and call them, I'm sure everything should go fine. I think the bad reviews are from people who didn't read all the fine print. But at least if there is a problem, you can call in and talk to someone who can fix things. Call in a second time if you don't like the answer, because I did get several different answers from Customer service.

No statement received when plan was about to expire!!

  I was offered a promotional cash back rebate if bill was paid on time for consecutive months but when the last month was coming up for me to receive the rebate, the company forgot to email me my statement. What a coincidence! And since I rely on the emails to stay on top of the billing, well that threw me off and it cost me the rebate. I wasn't to pleased with that! Oh well, live and learn!

Excellent rates...poor billing management, worst customer service

  Even though they offer very attractive and competitive rates, their billing management needs a lot of improvement as well as their customer service section.
You have to be clever and carefully check your bill every month. I had two bad experiences, the first one regarding charges not disclosed in the bill and the most recent involved my Lite-Up discount. Discount Power did not apply this discount even though I got them proof of my certification. After clarifying this issue, they got me a credit but they did not apologize for their mistakes.
Basically they just do billing, representatives do not know their product/services, so you can't expect much from them at the time of resolving issues.

Disappointed in renewal offers

  I switched to Champion Energy two years ago because my previous electricity provider was hiking prices up too high. I signed up for a 12-month fixed-rate contract with Champion Energy. My first year with Champion was great and I did save compared to my previous provider. Then when my contract was up my renewal offer from Champion Energy was even LESS than the previous year! I was very happy to sign up for my second 12-month fixed-rate contract. My second contract expires this month and I have to say I'm VERY DISAPPOINTED in the renewal "offers" coming in from Champion Energy. They are WAY TOO HIGH....so high in fact that I'm DROPPING Champion Energy and switching to a more reasonably priced provider. I hate to leave but they aren't even in the ballpark on their pricing this year.

Poor Billing Management

  I have been with this provider for 8 months. At the beginning I just had a complaint on the fee they charge for not enrolling yourself in the auto-payment.
Lately, I have received an extremely confusing bill containing a series of "debits and credits" concepts, but no explanation at all. I called asking for details but they stated that they just collect the information from AEP (field operations contractor) and they do not know the exact nature of such charges/debits. It has been a very unpleasant experience dealing with Customer Care? Representatives that are not interested at all in giving a good service.

Why should we pay $6.00 to pay our bill?

  I am very disgusted with Green Mountain's payment methods. I only stay with them because their rates are good. When it comes to paying my bill, they stink. Every single month I have to tell the automated phone system that my service has been cut off in order to pay my bill. The website, when I try to sign in, has never heard of me before, in spite of being a customer for over a year with this company. They do not send the password when requested. When I try to pay by phone, it loops me around and around. The only way to pay is to say my power is cut off. I know that they are making payment difficult in the hopes I will agree to pay a $6.00 fee JUST to pay my bill. I think I need to inform the Public Utilities Commission that this company also has dishonest billing procedures. Very sad that almost every company is only trying to rob us of what little extra money we have. Very sad indeed.

Beware of end of contract "promotions"

  My first few years with Gexa was great. At the end of my contract, I started getting emails about how smart I would be to go with a new plan before my old one expired. Each of the links took me to sites that had higher rates than what you could get by going through the Gexa web site. After looking into other companies online, I found that Gexa rates were more than most and most of the advertising was for new users only. I spent weeks trying to get in touch with customer service. I ended up waiting for hours. Horrible service trying to renew. Horrible rates for renewal. Decided to switch.

  Salesman offered me 7.9 cents per Kwh.... I should have known that it was too good to be true at the time. BUT I went ahead and talked to the sales guy and signed up. I even looked online and did not see the "7.9 cents per Kwh" rate there. When the sales guy told me OH no you wont see it there this a special rate only for us door to door sales people. OH what a mistake the very first bill was at 19.8 cents I cancelled immediately and told them that I signed up for 7.9 cents....you people said TDSP was included you lied I called the BBB and made a complaint. and signed up for trieagle energy. you cannot beat their Customer service or rate plans. they say what they mean when it comes to your bill.

Horrible plan & customer service plus they lied to me

  Some guy came to my with my info already and said if i signed up i would pay 7 cents pkw and receive $200 to reimburse myself for the cancellation charges i would incur with my previous company. Well i did sign up with them and low and behold 7 months later i have not received any money and im paying close to 12 cents pkw. Called and spoke w cs and sups and they said sorry but you were 3 days late in signing up so you dont qualify for the $200 incentive. I told them that the sales guy signed me up but they wouldnt heae of it. I called the sales guy but of course the phone numver has been disconnected. Never will believe in promotional pitches.

the worst customer service

  i called them today with an issue with my bill i have been with them for 10 years straight i have never, not paid them i always pay them but my bill is always paid 5 days late cuz thats when i get paid every month and they wont change my billing date to accomadate me but 25 years i have been with this company all together but ten years straight at one address and they treat me like im nothing a 25 year customer im just wondering how they treat new customers cuz man they treat long time customers like dirt to step on. on top of everything i got yelled at and attitude from a supervisor cuz they told me well your always five days late well i told them my situation and its been like that for ten years but for ten years i pay them. they were so rude to me i wanted to tell them to stick there electric but i just shut up but im looking for a new company asap!

Ambit is a horrible company, they screw with you

  For anyone in Texas, I would definitely not go with Ambit. We have been with them since last August and it has been nothing but problems for the last 3 to 4 months with very high billing problems and unsatisfactory customer service issues. They put us without knowing on a very high rate plan and our bill went up almost $350 in February from what it usually is. When we called Ambit to complain, they did not care then. Then we filed a complaint with PUCT and then all of a sudden Ambit acted like they cared, but again they didn't. They have been scamming us on our electricity and whole experience been very disheartening and disappointing to my family. We were looking for a good company.....Ambit is not it. Go someplace else, take my advise. They are horrible.
