  Every company will have complaints. Some customers don't read the fine print of contracts, so they get caught unaware when something unexpected comes along. The key to a good customer experience is to be your own best advocate and read everything. Sometimes terms are only mentioned once. If you don't understand something, ask the company and ask someone you trust who knows what's what.

We use balance billing. That means we pay the same each month. I have had decreases. I have had increases. But at least I have a set amount to fit into my budget. I know what to expect. That comes from a good relationship with the company...meaning I pay my bills on time (about a week prior to the due date). If you do the same, you will reap the benefit.

Excellent Provider

  In my experience, a power company is a power company is a power company. The differentiators are price and quality of customer service--that's where StarTex shines. StarTex offers great prices and the company has excellent customer service. I couldn't be happier with my service.

  Startex power was great. I used them last few years and ended 12/2015. I rated them 4 lamps because I was billed an early termination fee that was supposed to be waived since I moved. I spoke to 3 different Customer service reps about it and I was told all was good every time until the next rep would call to get a $49.50 payment. I just received a call from a collections agency, claiming I owed the $49.50 again and told her the story. She told me to email her the Info. I called Startex Power, spoke to another kind service rep,( they have all been kind and helpful), told him what was going on, like so many times before and he said he sees all the notes but that the cancel refill had not ever been filed. He was doing it now and they actually owe me 50 cents since I over paid my last bill. So they were a good company I used for years until I moved in with my fianc. I would still use them but he has a contract With another provider.

Consistant Excellent Service

  I have been with Spark Energy for a long time. I don't even know how long. But they have worked with me on billing and I have even had an single individual work with me via email several times over email. Always very responsive and very helpful.

I am currently comparing prices now that my contract is to expire with them on 10/13/11. I have noticed now that they are way down on the list on "Power to Choose" because they are higher than a significant amount of other copmanies. In the past they have always been consitently at the top because they had the lowest prices. I am disappointed that I will be leaving them. :( Who knows...I might regret it later and wish I had stayed with them.

  Cost chart was an eye-opener as green mountain energy occupied spots 2,3,4 regarding electricity costs. My bill is about 30% cheaper - NOW, since switching to GME!!! I was motivated when TXU Energy was going to "change" electric rates GIVING ONLY ONE MONTHS Notice. Switching to GME Has proven to be a WISE Decision.

  I hate to leave Texas Power, but their rates aren't as competative as they used to be. I do not have any complaints. I sold a home and moved into an apartment for 3 months while my new home was being completed, I then moved into the new home, taking Texas Power with me on each move. I did not have any issues and the customer service made suggestions to save me on the move. There were never any fees attached. I always paid my bill on line, but they also sent me one in the mail in case I chose to send them the payment USPS. I hate to leave, but they wouldn't budge on their rates.

Reliant Is Good Provider

  I have had good experience with Reliant. It appears that for long term customers, they offer special plans that are otherwise not available. I believe a lot of people's complaints result from their not understanding the pricing structure upfront and they may not analyze their actual costs and compare provider rates properly. Also, many people do not realize how much their actual usage can vary from month to month. To get the best understanding of company offers, the monthly power consumption in kWh from the previous year should be used to the calculate each month's cost under the new plan offered by each considered provider using the base cost of the power provider, plus the base cost of the transmission line provider and his other additional costs, the power cost of the power provider, the power related cost of the transmission provider and any other costs on the Electricity Fact Sheet. Using this method to calculate the total annual cost for each provider considered, provides a fair comparison. It is important to carefully read all parts of the Electricity Fact Sheet because of additional fees not mentioned in the pricing section.

  I like the free electricity offer and the free travel. The consultant helped me sign up, and has kept in contact with me, which I enjoy. I am not a number, but somebody important. I never have had a problem with the billing, and saved myself over $82 a month, just by switching. My old company (Reliant)offered to match the rate I was getting, but I didn't want to stay with the company that could have offered me lower rates, and didn't.
