Is Cheaper Than Reliant

We swtich from Reliant and saw a saving in our electricity bill.

Skeptical at first but so very pleased

(5 / 5)

I was shopping for a new provider when my former provider hit me up with a huge price spike after the 6 month intro rate. I enjoyed low prices from 4 change for the last several months but assumed I was going to get hit with the same exact price spike after 6 months. I was delighted when I got an email to extend my current plan for another year!

Very Happy with our Choice!!

(5 / 5)

We decided to switch to Bounce Energy when we moved into a new home in July of 2015. So far, we are extremely pleased. Their communication (electronic) is excellent. They send savings opportunities via email as well as your weekly electricity usage, so you know what to expect on your monthly bill. On that note, their rates are awesome compared to our previous supplier, First Choice Power. Our bill is now $125 (in the Texas summer months) or so per month as opposed to close to $300!! Customer service has been easy to work with as well. They also have rewards programs - which is a plus on top of what we are already saving! We have called 2 or 3 times to set up the account, add a location and for a quick billing question, and they answer quickly and are polite. So far, though we are just 4 months in, we are very happy with Bounce and how easy it is to work with him. I can definitely recommend them to others at this point.

I just signed up and was so impressed with the customer service and simplicity of it all I took the trouble to do something I hardly ever do... sign up to something and write a review.

The young lady that answered my call was knowledgeable, courteous, pleasant, efficient and just downright helpful! The Energy Facts Label provided clean form language and was easy to understand. I didn't feel like I needed to be a lawyer to think I understood it.

The other thing I like is that we have choice in how we get and pay our bill. No hassle.

The rates are very competitive and the reviews are favorable.... here is hoping that my satisfaction continues. If it does I will recommend them.

I have been a StarTex customer for years and they tried to snow me with a bunch of double speak to convince me their rates are actually competitive while in truth they are in the upper quartile of quoted EFL rate.

Great Start Bad Finish

(2.6 / 5)

We have had this company for almost a year now. All of our bills are paid with them and we use quite a bit of electricity. Last month we were traveling and forgot about the bill. We were disconnected and paid the bill the same day. Now we have a mysterious new bill that we have been disconnected AGAIN for. I have personally been in the account and screenshot everything. We have paid them $1400 over a couple payments and our bills for the last few months only total $1100. Even the new $181 bill doesn't go over the $1400 we have paid and even IF you include disconnect fees (which were waived and I record all my cell phone calls) it still doesn't go over the $1400 we have paid in total. I just had to pay an additional $181 to have electricity for my girlfriend while I am traveling for work. Our total paid now with 4change is $1581 and our total charged usage is $1164.

They also refuse to let me speak to anyone in the united states. I am forced to speak with marginally abrasive, half english spekaing middle easterners who have no real concern for what transpires here. I was even hung up on after I got upset that I was being interrupted every time I started a sentence. I loved this company at first and the price was great and service was excellent but as I get closer to moving they get worse and worse with billing and customer service.

I used to recommend this company to everyone and now I will have to take them to small claims court for my overpayment to them. WHAT A DAY!

Have to leave, here is why

(2.4 / 5)

We have been a customer since 2006 and our contract is up for renewal. I figure to save 20% on a 24 month term compared to StarTex best offer. I've stayed in the past even though the rate was higher than available and I got no rate consideration for customer loyalty when I renewed but figured it better to dance with the devil I knew. I would have stayed this time as well but for one thing... I didn't like the way I was treated when I called to renew. The young lady answering my call was nice but she was in a hard sell position and tried to double talk me into believing that the 10.3 cent per kwh offer was better than a 8.5 cent offer that had the same terms. Desperation is all I can offer to say.

We had no beef with StarTex up until that point. Of course, my wife pays the bills and is always on time with them so there is no real reason for a problem.

StarTex remains in the upper quartile of price point.

Never again

(2.4 / 5)

We signed up with txu when we moved into our new house. We were told free nights was our best bet. What a joke. Our bills were insanely high. I started heat/ac down during the day and tried to only run it during free times. Along with dishes and laundry and baths...anything that uses the water heater. Didn't make any difference in our bills. So we switched to reliant. Our bills are $200 each month!!! A third the amount of txu! And I have just been setting the heat/ac at whatever is most comfortable. Washing and drying clothes and doing dishes and everything the same but not any specific time of day. It was cheaper to pay to cancel our contract with txu and switch. We got our money back in less than 2 months with the much lower bills!

Don't do it!

(1.8 / 5)

If you're thinking about signing up, don't do it. If you signed up and you're still in the 3-day cancellation window, cancel it. Wow...I've never been nickel and dimed so much in my life. There's a fee for everything! I'll pay the $150 fee to cancel my contract and go back to Gexa.

Disgruntled

(1.8 / 5)

started out as a great provider, but just like Reliant, they have gotten full of themselves. They now think that they can charge outrageous prices, monthly bills jump from $370 to $600 with no rhyme or reason to the madness. Will not use them again.

TruSmart/DPI not a smart choice; deceptive billing practices

(1.6 / 5)

TruSmart advertises a "fixed rate" plus free Sundays, but in reality you'll need those free Sunday credits to get anywhere close to that fixed rate. Their customer service department doesn't get it. Bills are difficult to understand, probably for a reason. I will switch as soon as my 3-month contract is up. I saw some negative reviews but figured I'd give them a shot based on a "great rate." Truth is, when it seems too good to be true, it probably is. I had a much better experience with Startex, and will likely go back to them next.

Very confused billing dept. Will issue disconnect at 1 day past due. Bills not always
received before disconnect. Issued credit on disconnect and could not tell what was owed.

Not worth it. Run!!!!

(1 / 5)

Started off .08 cents kwh and great! pay as you go, they send usage and you can track and plan. Sounds great right? Well, that turned quickly. I accidentally paid too much on one of my payments, too many zeros, ok, so my fault. I called customer service and asked if they able to return the money and I will submit a new payment. well, they said, yea, yea no problem. but it never happened. I sent an email asking them to check on it and still no answer, no response, nothing they just lied to me and kept both payments.

But real problem was after only 4 months of using them, they ended up charging 17 cents kwh as it went up from .08cents. That is when i bailed out. They will not tell you the rate until after make a payment, then you have to perform the math yourself to figure this out.
NOW, after switching, they are returning only part of my remaining balance. Yea Part of it. I have no idea why, they are NOT responding to emails, and I also found that their representatives struggled with 2nd grade math as They have no idea on how to add and subtract. I have supplied real numbers to show that they are in the wrong and they refuse to see this nor responding to emails. They are just plain stupid. I have am still fighting with the thieves demanding they fix it.
What they do not know is, I have been tracking my power, every month for the past 12yrs. I read the meter, I am proficient in excel so I know how much power I use every week and can forecast it very well. It is not hard to do, but you have to spend to effort in doing it.
It is just Unbelievable, that they are stealing this money and my advice is go somewhere else.

Bait and Switch, Stay Away

Their variable rate plan was great the first month, then the price per kwh doubled the second and subsequent months. They lure you with attractive rates. A bait and switch scheme for sure..

Reliant Energy High Bill

(1 / 5)

I have been in my home for 16 years and been with Reliant the entire time. My highest usage over that time period was around 4000 kWh. I was shocked at this months bill as it was almost double what I usually pay. They are saying I used 7041 kWh. No one will help! Spent over two hours on the phone with supervisors and asked what I needed to do to place a formal complaint. They told me there was no such process. I guess that loyalty does not matter to this company! They have yet to do anything to prove to me that they care. I will be changing providers today!

No disclosure

(1 / 5)

Summer did not disclose their connection charge on their web site nor through a CSR what it would be. I didn't ask, because I didn't know.hat they would charge $14.14 for a connection charge they say "Centerpoint is allowed to charge...". Also, it it is TOTALLY OFFENSIVE that part of the billing summary (my charges) are in Spanish - I don't even know what they are! I will watch my bill very closely in order to deflect unauthorized charges. When I called to ask about these issues, I encountered another company with a rude, unprofessional CSR who would rather talk than listen.

Legalized thieves!!

(0.5 / 5)

Horrible company. They lie to you, raise the rates on the 'secure' plans, refuse to assist when you have totally unreasonable bills. Refuse to assist senior citizens with checking the 'new' meters, that consistantly are wrong. When you have a meter checked, Reliant is always correct. Highest bills I have ever had in my 64 years of life. Stay away from Reliant Energy.

OMG Stream energy is GREAT....LMAO

(0.3 / 5)

I have had the worst experience ever with an electricity company. My Landlord offered us a $50.00 off for month if we use STREAM...I wish I would have gone with Green Mountain Energy. Stream's customer service is horrible and rude and condescending. They send out disconnection notices if you are late by ONE DAY!!! Their pricing looks low on the internet...but their bills are astronomical. So if you are not a millionaire who loves to deal with rude unprofessional people who laugh at you for having an issue with their company...I suggest you go with a different company...if not....keep a good sense of humor.
