I have had experience with other service providers who have lied about one thing or anther. My experience here has been by far the best.

Have enjoyed having this company for our energy plan.

Been good so far for a year

(4 / 5)

my only complaint is that you can't setup autobill pay online. Though, it has only been a year and I just got my 1 month notice that it is time to renew.

Also they have a Veterans thing, though no discounts, only no deposit with autobill pay... wooopppyyy...

Decent and Acceptable Service

(3.8 / 5)

Eversource was one of the only companies offered where I live so I had to choose them. I was a bit worried about them at first, but I have to say that they are better than I expected. They have been really consistent and easy to communicate with. They are fair with their prices and have good service. I have experienced a few power outages but they were quick to resolve that. Overall, I would say that they are a fair choice

Retention efforts fall short

(3.4 / 5)

We locked in good rates for the last two years and looked at renewing today. The price pr Kwh change is radically higher. My wife talked with customer service to try to maintain a reasonable rate and was offered even higher rates. Not a good sign for retaining our custom. We recently persuaded our caregiver to switch over to StarTex (I know nothing about a referral plan, but that would be nice). We will advise her to closely monitor her account when it comes up for renewal. In the meantime, we will shop and most likely change over our service.

Good service but about to switch

(3.2 / 5)

I switched to Champoin two years ago based on relatively low costs, good reviews and JD Powers ratings. Have had a good experieince with them but based on what I believe are uncompetitive rates, I am looking hard at switching. With some companies offering 12 month rates at $.085/kw and Champion not able to offer me anything better than $.097/kw, why would I stay? As a 1780 kw/month customer, one would think you'd be a more flexible/competitive for my business.

Great at first; Bad renewal rates

(3 / 5)

I was really happy with Reliant when I signed up. The rate was one of the lowest offered and their service was reliable. After my 9 month contract though, the rates offered to me were ridiculous. I rarely go over 1,000 KWH and they must count on that because the cheapest rate offered was 13.1 cents per KWH. Only when you go over 1,000 KWH did it start to come down but marginally. After looking at what the other companies have to offer, I'm canceling with Reliant. I would think that if they were truly concerned about their clients, they would make loyal customers who pay their bills on time want to stay. Judging by the rates they're offering, that does not seem to be the case at all. Goodbye Reliant. With a market for energy, who needs you? I can get the same service somewhere else for a lot less.

BEWARE! No longer competitive

(2.6 / 5)

I have used Texas Power since it was originally started and have been reasonably satisfied. For a long time they were very competitive while not always being the lowest cost provider but at least very close to the lowest. I have just now looked at their rates on Power to Choose and find they are no longer competitive. They are 28% higher than the service I am switching to and, if you can believe it, they are even more expensive than Texas Electric Utilities.
I do not know what has happened to the competitiveness of Texas Power but whatever, they will be doing it without me.

Not happy

(1.9 / 5)

Prices started out alright, but went up steadily, with no warning, and difficult to get ahold of anyone in customer service. They promote themselves through private individuals.(MLM).

Incapable internet service

(1.8 / 5)

Customer service on the phone is very nice; however this company either has a very out-of-date software package or an inept IT department to service billing. We had to call on the phone to make payments every month because the website would never work. VERY FRUSTRATING. We will never use this company again. It felt like it was being run out of someone garage.

Horrible Customer Service!!

(1.5 / 5)

Even though Gexa has very low rates I would never again choose them for service! They have been very rude to me every time I call them and they send out threatening cancelation notices EVERY month even though we pay our bills on time. For example, this month the company records indicate that my account was credited for payment on August 29th, yet still I was sent a cancelation notice dated August 30th (recieved in mail September 6th). Again, this is just one example, it happens EVERY MONTH!! If I was not under contract with them I would leave. It is my advice to any wise Texan to choose someone else!

Good deal not worth horrible customer service

(1.4 / 5)

I was left without power in the new home that we were moving into because of a glitch in the ordering process (was notified the DAY BEFORE that my order could not be filled on time. I was busy moving and did not get the message). When I called to have this resolved, customer service literally laughed at me and told me that I would have to pay an "emergency connect" fee. I had a small child and this happened in the heat of a Texas summer, so I had no AC. Needless to say I had to pay $80 extra just to have the power turned on for an order that I had placed a week before.

I will never use their service again and would not recommend them to anyone.

Theft

(1 / 5)

This company took $150 for a deposit for services not rendered. I went through the lengthy "enrollment" and gave all required info, only to find when I moved to my new residence I had no electricity. When I called the representative said there was no record of me, ridiculed me for pointing out the charge on my credit card. Called again with the print out of my confirmation email. My son called (I had authorized him to talk about my account) and spoke to the "compliance" dept. He was told "enrollement" wasn't completed due to incorrect address entered by them. New acct. given, called to confirm the next day and was told: no record of me, my address, acct. # etc. Based on other reviews, I'm lucky I don't have a contract with them. Now I just have to get a charge back on my credit card due to services not rendered. I would tell anyone who is thinking about StarTex power company: They are thieves and liars.

Nothing but headaches

(1 / 5)

Just bad from the start. Problem 1: I paid extra to select what day my power would be turned on to coordinate with previous provider. LifeEnergy never sent start of new service request to Oncor causing me to be without power all day. It took dozens of calls between LifeEnergy and Oncor for them to get their ducks in a row and my power turned on. Oncor could turn on remotely, just needed paperwork from LifeEnergy, which never came. Problem 2: First two bills were grossly incorrect. The first bill was for two days of service for $206 dollars. Call into customer service said it was wrong and they would get it fixed. Second bill was $468 dollars for 1741 kW. My plan is a flat rate of $114 dollars for anything less than 2000 kW. This time I received an email stating my bill was inaccurate, and they would resend. Problem 3: Customer service line is constantly busy. Not busy like you are on hold, but busy as in you cannot get through to be put on hold. It takes 3 or 4 calls just to be put on hold. Problem 4: I have been unable to setup an online account. I keep getting a mailbox is full, server error blah blah blah. If and when they can ever get my billing straightened out, I will gladly pay them for service provided, but plan to cancel soon.

Liars and scammers

(1 / 5)

An Entrust Energy employee came to my door on 8/11/17. He told me that Oncore Electric had contracted Entrust to go to all of the customers Oncore lines provided electricity to. The reason- all customers were supposed to get a discount and Entrust was to go door to door to check and make sure that each customer did actually receive that discount.
It sounded strange, but, ok. I am a very sceptical person and asked many questions to make sure that his story never changed. He needed to see a copy of my electricity bill, to make sure that I had received this discount. He could not tell from my bill, so he told me that he needed to make a call in to the system or something. This would allow him to find out if I had received this discount or not. Ok.
So he made a call. I wasn't listening too closely to what he was saying. This was cutting into my dinner time and my kids were getting a little rambunctious.
Then the Entrust employee told me that someone from his company was going to call me immediately to verify my information. My phone rang and I answered. This was a man from Entrust Energy, explaining to me that any cost incurred to me from changing electric companies would not be the responsibility of Entrust.
"What?!? I don't want to change my electric company!" was my reply. Then the man on the phone asked me if the man on my porch had not told me that this was a sales call to get me to change electric companies.
I said, "No! I asked him several times of that was what this was and he said NO every time."
The man on my porch then reached up and touched the end call button on my phone. I was LIVID! I told the man to get off of my property. That he was a LIAR and a SCAMMER!

Unhappy with customer service

(1 / 5)

I was told to email and fax documents over and over only to be informed they would not be sufficient. The last customer service representative I spoke to was very rude. She said to me, "I was just unhappy because I did not get approved for a deposit waiver". My husband does receive Medicare and is 66 years old. I would have been able to make the deposit in two payments. But the rudeness was unacceptable! I signed up with another company whose representatives knew how to treat their customers and I did not have to make any deposit because they offer complete waivers. I would not recommend ANYONE to your company!
