 We've been with IGS/Dynowatt for almost 7 years now. Never had a problem, ALWAYS have had good experiences. Very good customer service. Flexible if you need a couple of extra days to pay. Always there if you have a question or problem. Had one experience when we lost power and Oncor gave us the run around about when the repairs would be made. Called IGS and they contacted Oncor on our behalf. Amazingly, there was a repair crew working on the transformer within a couple of hours. Rates are more than reasonable. Recommend to others all the time.

Good company

 I have never had a problem with them. They have been flexible when it comes to payments. Rates are good. I have never had a problem with them. Compared to Reliant and TXU (both of which have ripped me off), they are a very good company. They were recommended by our son. And we switched my father in law from Gexa to Dynowatt, and his bill went down. So I don't know what happened with these other peopleas far as issues with Dynowatt, but I will recommend them to anyone.

Leaving soon, not going to renew.

 I have been satisfied with Dynawatt until recently. They have been purchased by IGS, and in spite of all the flowery "Welcome to IGS" propaganda, it is not going well. One of their most recent letters states, verbatim: " You will still be able to access your account to pay bills and view your billing history." Well folks, that statement is an outright LIE. I've been trying to pay my bill for a week now and it will not take. I refuse to hand my information over to a CSR in the Philippines, as much as I like the place, I dislike the fact this is apparently a quick take over and exploit operation. But the good news, fortunately, my fixed price plan expires in 33 days and I'm switching elsewhere!

    Easy to sign up, but you're hosed when you leave

     I've been with Dynowatt for 2 years but finally decided to switch because the 6 month plan rates kept getting higher and higher and I found a cheaper alternative. I paid my January bill on 1/29...and it was due on 2/14. The amount was $159. I just checked online to make sure the payment was received and posted and noticed they revised my bill to $205.24 and do NOT show the payment as having been received. After checking my bank account I see that they did, in fact, receive the payment since they drafted it out of the account, but I suspect they've gotten the notification that I am switching carriers since my plan expires in 4 days and I have chosen not to renew with them. I haven't had a chance to call them yet because I just realized this today (a Sunday) and their customer service hours are Monday - Friday 8am - 6pm...but I don't even have to sit on hold for an hour or get hung up on 3 or 4 times to know that I think I'm about to get screwed when I can actually call them in the morning. To be sure, my contract expires on 2/23 and I set my new carrier up to start on the same day, so there is no way I'm liable for an early termination fee. I give them 4 light bulbs for getting service set up because it was so easy, but 1 light bulb for the rest because their actions seem shady and suspect to me.

Two months later we got a letter from a collection agency. Dynowatt never sent a bill via mail, email, or even a phone call. We were told that since it was all electronic we should have checked our account online but the account had been closed so HOW THE F**K DO I CHECK IT? Do not commit anything to this company. They have a way of getting you in the end if you leave.

     I'm very disgusted with this company's customer service. A representative called me at home, being very polite, of course, to get my business. Of course they did. There came a time when I needed an extension to pay my bill.The person on the phone was rude and I was told that they would have to review my account and call me back. I had been with them a year without any problem. I tried to switch over, but did not, then it was too late. Regretfully, I'm still with them another year. I would not recommend this company to anyone. I can't even pay my bill at the local store where they take utility bills. Thank GOD for my computer.

I asked if we could go ahead and renew early for a lower rate since my husband and I were both out of work..."No, that will cost the monthly penalty times 3". They did email back and say I had the option to apply for assistance...I said my option was PowerToChoose.com and set the thermostat higher. I did both! Look at the ratings here and find out who's won the JD Powers award for Customer Service for the past 2 years...that's the option I chose.

     I got on line in an effort to have my electricity service moved to a new apartment. First thing, I mentioned was that I wanted to move my service, as I have been pretty pleased with Dynowatt after a miserable experience with TXU. Buenavida, the agent that I chatted with, made me go through all the security checks, and then told me I would have to call to make the change.

    It was 5:23 when I placed the call and was told to keep holding and the next available would be with me in a minute. The message was repeated over and over, ad nauseum. At 5:45, the message was replaced by a sound similat to that made by a tape recorder when it is rewinding. I never got to take care of my business.

    I was going to transfer Dynowatt from my old apartment to my new, but considering the cavalier treatment, I think I will shop around. .

     I have been with Dynowatt for nearly 8 years on a variable plan. My electric bills averaged less than $200 per month. Even in the hottest summer months only rarely did the bill exceed $200. In August of 2011, I received a bill for $660. It was shocking that they raised my rate to over $.26 per KWA. I do not recommend Dynawatt!

     I paid my bill by check, but received a cutoff notice even though they had
    cashed my check. Didn't beleve me, charge a late payment fee until i sent
    them a copy of my check by fax which costed me $2.00. No apology no
    nothing, but bad customer service. This is the 3rd time with them in less
    than a year. They told me to allow 7 -10 business days to process my
    check, but it took them 12 business days and when I called they couldn't
    find my payment. Did not know what electronic transfer was so I would
    never recommend this company to anyone. I plan on sharing my story
    with all our park residents(1000) so they can't be taken as I was.

I stayed on hold for almost an hour before I could speak to a customer service representative. She was no help at all and refused to adjust the bill, even though I had signed for a 6 month fixed rate plan. I wish I had read those other reviews before I signed with Dynowatt. I would never recommend Dynowatt to others.

    A Nightmare to work with

     We have been dynowatt customers for more than a year. We were initially drawn to the rate plan and the renewable energy provided. Of course, during the hottest month in 20 years, our rate went from $.09-something to $.20-something per kWh. I have logged more than 6 hours in the past three weeks attempting to make an arrangement. I've been told, "sorry the office is closed, can you call back tomorrow" and "I'm sorry you were told that. I cannot help you" in addition to some other not-sympathetic phrases that sound like a person reading from a script.
    On the other hand, I have had two chat operators who at least appear to be empathic.
    Currently I have a call into corporate - the "operator"; called me back and apologized profusely for the trouble (long waits, mixed messages) I've had. She said she would have my account reviewed and call me back.
    I'll comment again if anything good comes out of this.

     During this hot Texas summer from heck, our energy provider Dynowatt more than doubled our rates without notice or warning. We had a variable rate plan, so certainly they have the legal right, but we've been customers for years without ever seeing such extremes. Suddenly our $275 bill became $550. When we called to complain, after waiting hours to speak to a customer service representative, they offered to refund a portion of the $550 IF we signed up for a 12 month fixed rate plan at a cost that was 66% higher than current market offers for fixed rates. Needless to say we dropped Dynowatt like a hot rock and will NEVER go back and will counsel everyone we know to avoid them.

I complained stating I renewed contract though, and Dynowatt now tells me yes, but it takes another 30 days for the new contract to go into effect because Dynowatt waits until your next meter read, so you keep paying $0.27 per KWH for not only last month, but for the next month too!

     If dynowatt gets you on a variable plan...say your fixed plan expires and you go to variable -- Dynowatt will take advantage of you. Granted summer of 2011 was bad for Tx, but Dynowatt jumped to 24 cents. I checked other variables and they were 14 to 18 cents from other providers. I asked around and Dynowatt does this during a lot of summers. They take advantage fo their variable customers. And get this they will offer you a deal to knock the 24cents to 15cents (6months) 13cents(12months) if I sign a contract. I look at their going rate which is 10cents. When I do the math they were trying to gouge me for another $600 over 6 months or $1000 over 12 months. Take my advice and stay away. If you call and ask them about it they will say that this was a rarity and everyone raised rates on their variable customers. Yes they did but they did not gouge them as did Dynowatt. Be forewarned.

    Variable rate price gouging

     After researching electric companies in Texas we settled on DynoWatt. The
    first month variable rate bill was amazingly .071 per KwH; however, the
    very next month the rate went to .262 per KwH. This has to be impossible,
    a .191 per KwH increase would have netted tremendous losses to
    DynoWatt since they would be responsible for the difference in pricing.

    I believe when a customer signs up for a variable rate plan they price
    gouge to force you to consider a secure rate plan thereby locking in
    earnings for a year. It would be easier to review gains and losses once
    they have the majority of their customers on a secure rate plan. After

     I was on a variable rate plan and was okay paying $.11 per KWH in the summer months. But when I received my bill for August I was shocked to see I was charged $.22 per KWH. I immediately found another provider for a much lower rate and signed up with them.

    I just received my final bill from Dynowatt and they charged $.267 per KWH on my last two weeks of service.

    I will NEVER recommend this company to anyone and hope all the people with them now on a variable rate plan are prepared for their Sept. bill to come in at .267 per KWH.

     I was on variable plan. The price jumped from 13 cents to 24 cents in 30 days. I have compared the historical variable plan rates with other competitors like Startex power, apna energy, kinetic energy for the month of AUgust 2011 and all are 13 cents. Dynowatt just multiplied and sent me a bill of 182. My average bill was always about 75$. Called customer service; first time : 1 hour on hold no response, Second time: 15 minutes on hold no response, third time: 45 minutes on hold no response. All I can hear is about sercured rate plans. No person to speak. Personally I felt I was ripped of. My bad about variable rate. Switched to Startex Power

     I have had a variable plan with Dynowatt for over two years now. To be fair, their prices have been pretty consistent and I have had no problems with them, until August 2011, the hottest month in Houston, ever. With the variable rate, I was paying, on average, 11 cents per kWh. For the month of August, I was charged 22 cents per kWh! Ironically, my consumption decreased, since I was tired of paying $300+ for the summer months, and yet my bill came out to $530. When I called to resolve the issue, they were not pleasant and the customer service lady would not let me speak. She kept repeating the same phrase. I finally spoke to a manager and told him I was done with Dynowatt, and he responded, "I understand." That was his resolution. Peace out, Dynowatt. You are a terrible organization whose only concern is making money for your higher ups. You don't care about the people.

     In one month, went from 11.1 to 21.1 cents per kilowatt hour. Spoke to two different customer service but both read from what sound like a standard script telling me the basics of variable rates. Offered me a "retro rate" for a fixed plan with a partial refund on last month's enormous bill but the simple fact is that I would pay it all back during the term of the retro rate plan (that is 63% higher than their online fixed rate). Seemingly no latitude to keep a customer. Goodbye (to a chunk of change and) Dynowatt.

     I have been a Dynowatt customer for 1.5 years with no problems. Rates have varied between 8 and 11 cents/kWh. Then, out of nowhere, I get a bill for August at a rate of 18.4 cents/kWh!!! That's a huge increase with no warning, especially when other electricity providers are not increasing rates. I spent almost 1 hour on the phone today with several very sweet non-English speaking customer service reps. They read their script and were basically clue-less about explaining an 80% increase in my rates. I plan to file a complaint with the Utility Commission and short-pay my bill. And, of course, I will switch electricity providers.

     Do yourself and your friends a favor! Avoid Dynowatt and a monthly electric bill of $876.00.
    When my fixed rate plan expired, Dynowatt raised my rate by 80%, from 10.1 cents per KWH to 18.359 cents/ KWH without notice. I expected a $400+. But $876.00? Give me a break!
    This happened during the hottest period in the last 21 years even as oil prices dropped below $80 per bbl. I had been paying Dynowatts higher than average rates since 2006 without complaint.
    Imagine my shock when I received a monthly electric bill from them for $876.00!
    On their website they show their highest variable rate since September of 2010 as 12.00 cents per KWH, with their variable rate for July of 2011 at 10.5 cents per KWH. Are they intentionally misleading consumers or was my new rate a mistake? Or, was it an opportunity?
    For the period ending August, 8, 2011, they charged me 18.359 cents per KWH. Check out their variable rates now. The highest variable rate they show is 12.5 cents/KWH in February, 2011.
    July, 2011, the month they charged me 18.359 cents/KWH, they show a variable rate of 10.5 cents/KWH.
    The justification they gave for raising my KWH rate was that I was now on a variable rate and it had been very hot during the past month. REALLY?
    The implication is that the consumer just isn't capable of understanding that the 80% increase in $/KWH is not related to the $876.00 bill they sent me. It was just hot.
    No energy company I can find lists a variable rate anywhere near 18.359 cents per KWH. But, Dynowatt charged me that much even though they show that their highest variable rate has been a mere 12.5 cents/KWH for the past year. And, Im betting that I'm not the only customer they've gouged.
    In my opinion, Dynowatt has committed a crime against the consumer. Crimes should have consequences. I hope we can join together and provide consequences for energy gouging.
    Integrity and honesty were once hallmarks of a good business. What happened?

     My contract with Dynowatt expired 7/9/11. Received an email stating "Under our variable rate plan, you energy rate will vary month to month based upon market conditons and other factors. If you're happy with the vaiable plan, there's nothing additional you need to do." I clicked the review rates button and the variable rate was below my current rate - so I did nothing. Checked the variable rate every couple of days - rate was going lower everytime I checked ranging between 10-7 cents per kWh. Received my July bill with a rate of 11.619 cents per kWh!! Called Dynowatt to complain, they stated that since I did not sign up for the varible rate the I did not get it. I told them that that is not what the email stated. I told them that I will file a complaint with the PUCT within 24 hours if they do not fix. Waiting on call back -

     I've had Dynowatt for my last two houses for a
    total of approximately 8 years. I have spoken
    to one person in customer service who was from
    the US (or who had an American accent.) I'm
    willing to pay a little bit more to understand
    the person I'm speaking to! I can't tell you
    how much time I've wasted trying to communicate
    with them. Also, I have two accounts (one for a
    workshop on our property) and they charge me a
    monthly base fee of $4.95 and $3.05 for an
    advanced metering cost recovery factor. My
    residential bill doesn't have those charges.
    You'd think having two accounts that they'd
    waive those fees on a second account. I paid $8
    for $14.65 of electric use in July 2011!

    rep during the switch was very well informed, patient, clearly spoken and
    professional. Billing was accurate and timely. Base charge is triggered
    when customer uses 1000 kWh or less per month.

    Have recently switched to Tara Energy for a more competitive and cost
    efficient 100% renewable rate. Also base charge is triggered when
    customer uses 500kWh or less per month. That is also a savings for our
    household in Houston, TX.

     Dynowatt has a pretty poor website. I have had problems downloading my bill among other things -- you don't realize how important the website is until it's a bad one!

    The biggest problem we had was when I set up autopay on their website, but it didn't cover my current bill (nothing suggested as much on the site). I got one notice through the mail (ignored it because I had just set up auto pay a couple days before!) before they shut off our power one evening. No email, no phone call, no other notice. We had to leave the house for the night (it was winter and we have two babies).

    I just can't believe that a steady paying customer who had entered an autopay program would be treated like that.

    To be fair, Dynowatt credited our costs (hotel, dinner) on the bill and claim to be working on their policies for dealing w/ customers, but we had to have many long discussions with them over the phone and write a long letter before they got to that point.

     Afer reading the horrible reviews, wewonder what planet you live on. Dynowatt has been our electrical provider since electric rates were deregulated years ago. They are the greatest. Our rate adjusts monthly and when I compare my bill with friends and family, Dynowatt is always lower. Their bills are easy to read and understand. Best rate and great billing. Please note, you must have excellent credit to qualify. Maybe that's the issue with all the whiners and complainers.

     This was definitely the worst experience that could have possible happened with any electricity company. My roommate moved out so I started a new account in my name. They rejected the order and never notified me. A month later I call to ask about my bill and they tell me my account was never pushed through... two months later. I was never notified so I thought I was under a contract with Dynowatt because they had sent me multiple confirmation emails and I had even spoke to a manager. I then call later asking them why I was never notified on the rejection. They passed it along to other people and never answered my questions and had no answers to them. I am highly upset with them and would never recommend them to anyone.

     I switched electrics company's due to the fact that their prices were higher than the competitor. When I moved to Houston I knew nothing about all the Electric companies and paid $350 deposit that was refundable after a year. I switched users after a year and waited a month for my deposit it never came. I called them and asked and they said I had to request it back in order to get it back! I was furious so I put in the request and they said 4-6 weeks. At that point I was even madder! They then said they would mail it out and I should have it 5-7 business days. I After the 7 days I called and they said it is on it way it had been 2 weeks and I still have not received it! So basically they are stealing $350 from me but had no problem collecting my payments that were on time every month!

     Had a few run ins with their billing and customer service department. One time, my electricity provider randomly got switched to another company (not Dynowatt's fault - just a mix up in addresses) but Dynowatt as my provider on contract was responsible for fixing it and they didn't. I had to beg Oncor to help. It took 4 weeks and lots of phone calls but we finally got it fixed - no thanks to Dynowatt (would have thought they wanted my business, guess not). The second was they didn't correctly apply our payment so we got a termination of service letter, even though we paid and they deposited the check on time. We had to fax them a copy of the cleared check to prove that they had our money. This is basic business practices.

Be carefull with whatever "deal" you sign up for, it's probably not the same deal that costomer service is telling you on the phone.      This company is not bad if you never have to
    contact customer service. If you do, you'll
    encounter foreigners that have no concern for
    your situation nor workaround other than the
    lines in front of them. I had to call on
    several occasions to have late fees reversed
    because the check cleared on the due date. They
    had a hard time understanding this. Once they
    refused to alter a disconnect scheduling
    mistake when we were moving. It wasn't part of
    their script, so they didn't and wouldn't
    handle it. They are an awful horrible company.

    WORST customer service. DO NOT buy from this company

     I have had Dynowatt for several years with perfect pay history. Our meter was read every month by a reader and it has never been estimated. I paid on actual usage. Out of no where I receive a bill with over $1000 in back charges. I was told that my actual usage seemed too low based on previous years so they replaced the meter then billed me additional ESTIMATED usage for the previous YEAR. I called repeatedly for weeks to dispute this. Spoke to a different person every time, never with any resolution always with promises of further internal research and a return call. I never received a call back. I continue to call and try to resolve the issue to no avail. THen I come home and my power has been shut off!!! On a Friday in May in houston where it is 90 degrees. I finally decide just to pay and am told since it is after 2:00pm (it was 2:26 and I had been on hold for nearly 20min) that the power could not be resorted until Monday. THESE PEOPLE ARE HORRIBLE.

     Just got two statements instead of one this
    month. Bill was $872 where last month was $183.
    Called customer service and was on hold for an
    hour. Rep had a strong Indian accent which was
    very difficult to understand.

    Said they made a mistake last month and I owe
    the larger amount. Didn't seem to give a damn
    that arbitrary billing like that wrecks the
    household budget. Also charged a higher than
    published rate (I should have gotten their
    lower published month to month rate since my
    contract was finished the month before).

    They had no solution except to offer to put me
    back on their higher monthly fixed rate. Bad
    enough that they screwed up my bill, but to
    make me wait an hour to talk to them and then
    give me a worthless service rep that is all but
    unintelligible adds insult to injury - Good bye
    Dynowatt, you suck!

Most of the time if you do get through your talking to someone in India with an accent so thick you can't understand without an interpretor. The only good part is the price unless you have a problem then forget it.

    1st) not noticing until after my account was
    closed, I had been charged late fees on 2
    occasions when my bank delivered payments on
    the due date (a Friday) but Dynowatt did not
    process them until the following Monday. guess
    they don't do payments on Fridays?

    2nd) within 30 days of the end of my 12 month
    contract, upon prodding from emails from
    dynowatt that my contract was ending soon, I
    switched providers (found a better price). I
    was slapped with a $150 contract cancel fee
    because it wasn't within 14 days of the
    contract end. Seriously, 10 business days?!
    The contracts read that these contract cancel
    fees are supposed to be reasonable estimates of
    loss and not a penalty. Given the time left in
    the contract (less than 30 days), is $150
    really a reasonable estimate.

    Result: so they gained $150 in an additional
    fee, but guaranteed no further business. Not
    exactly a plan for long term growth.

     On two different occasions, they didn't correctly charge my credit card correctly for my monthly autopay that took me a lot of time to call and fix. One time, they actually forgot to charge me for three months, then charged me for three months all at once without notifying me. The final straw came when they jacked up my rates to nearly 30 cents/kw one summer while I was under the month to month plan.

    Horrible service even before it started

     I signed up for Dynowatt with an electricity turn on date of January 2, 2010 on December 21, 2009. December 22 I still had no confirmation that Dynowatt had received the request so called to confirm. I was told that they were turning my electricity on January 4..two days after moving in. Told them it needed to be before and they said moving it up to December 30 would be and extra $90 fee charged by Centerpoint not them that it is Centerpoints policy. Also told me that I would pay a cancellation fee if cancelling and switching to another company even though it was a variable rate contract with no cancellation fee. I checked with other providers and Centerpoint and Dynowatt completely lied about the $90 fee that only applies if wanting power turned on within 48 hours. Long story short I switched to another provider who charged me no fee and will never do business with this unethical and lying company. Please stay away from them.

     Dynowatt has HORRIBLE customer service. I chose them for their price, but you get what you pay for. I accidentally mispaid them by about $40 and with NO notice, shut my power off because it wasnt paid in full!!!! We have a 2 year old and it was a nightmare because at 5pm, they couldn't/wouldn't turn it back on for 24-48 hrs. We had to pay for a hotel and all the food in our fridge and freezer needed to be thrown out and replaced. We called to complain and the gentleman barely spoke english and had HORRIBLE customer service skills. Trust me I work for AT&T and know good customer service. I will now gladly pay the $150 to get out of my contract early. DO NOT GET DYNOWATT!!!!!!

If you pressure them any, they just hang up. Dynowatt and Accent Energy are a really pathetic excuse for a public utility co. In three months I recieved 2 notices for disconnect due to late payment. Although they connot seem to get a statement out, they are very quick to threten disconnect. I say run them out of Texas.

     i signed up awhile back for a fixed rate plan with Dynowatt. Rates have started getting cheaper and my bill is pretty high so i called them to see what i could do. they told me my only option is to renew with them for 24 months at a price that is 30% higher than the current 12 month market rate. Its actually cheaper for me to pay their $150 cancellation fee and sign up elsewhere - i'll be saving money in month 3. I tried to work with them in good faith but they dont seem to understand or care. Goodbye Dynowatt!

     I attempted to setup service through Dynowatt and everything seemed to go well, however, I received a call the night that my service was supposed to be connected to inform me that something was incorrect with my order (I don't believe this was my fault in any way) and that they would have to reschedule. Not only would they have to reschedule, but in order to give me service as early as possible, they were going to charge me a "priority" fee up to $100. I declined and decided to go with another company.

    In addition to the poor service, the lady on the phone did not speak English very well and was also very rude.

    Overall, I would not recommend this company.
