UPDATE: We Switched and Its Still Great!

(5 / 5)

CURRENT UPDATE: We still couldn't be happier and they still offer us the cheapest rate. We locked in our rate for 12 months, picked the e-billing option, yes to auto pay, no thanks on green. Plus we got a $25 bill credit at sign-up, a $50 credit after our first 3 months, quarterly rewards and the referral bonus is great. We lowered our electricity bill and earned $50!! Sign-up-today! Great Company. As for the negative reviews about not receiving the bill credits and late fees just make sure you make your payments on time EVERY month. Also customer service has never been and issue for us. When we have had to call our questions where answered and the wait time is usually less then 5 minutes. We are still very happy customers!! Thanks to the rewards program and cheaper rates we are now saving over $300 a year. I highly recommend using this company.

Great company & rates!

(5 / 5)

I have been a customer since May of this year and have been incredibly pleased with their service thus far. My main reason for choosing Champion was because they offered a lower monthly fee for not meeting the minimum usage and their minimum usage amount was less than other companies. All my bills this summer were less than $100 whereas last summer I paid anywhere from $125 to $150.

SUPER PROVIDER

(4.9 / 5)

Our condominium association has enjoyed StarTex for about three years now and they are definitely super. We locked in a rate and really enjoyed turning the thermostat up or down without tears when we got their bill. Super service/customer support.

We recommend Ambit Energy as a company with whom you would be proud to do business with. Never any problems with billing, no outages, no phone call hassles to continue service,

I'm in my third year with 4 Change. It started off a little bumpy due to the website, etc. but now all the problems seem to be ironed out and everything is quick and easy.

Not the cheapest, but no hidden fees.

(4.6 / 5)

Excellent energy company. Competitive rates overall. Not the cheapest company but there are no hidden fees and the customer service is excellent. The best part is the easy online bill pay and the weekly usage emails. Its a handy tool to regulate how much power your family uses. Ive saved quite a bit of money just being able to see my usage and changing some simple things. Great customer referral plan. Use my code KNupson55057 and we both get a $25 credit on our bills. Overall a great company to work with.

Extremely Pleased

(4.5 / 5)

I switched from Stream Energy due to their high KWH rate about a year ago. Champion's rate was lower and it has showed in my electric bills especially during the summer months. Online payments are easy & free unlike Stream which charges you $2.95, I did not have to make a deposit and the change order went through just like it should. I have recommended this company to several people who have switched and are just as pleased as I have been. Thanks Champion!

So far, so good!

(4.4 / 5)

I have only been a customer for 2 months but am pleased with their service thus far. My main reason for choosing Champion was because they offered a lower monthly fee for not meeting the minimum usage and their minimum usage amount was less than other companies. My last bill showed I used 854kwh which with my last company would have resulted in a $9.99 monthly fee. Fortunately, with Champion there was no additional fee. I was also able to take advantage of their $25 referral credit by using a code I found online.

Not bad

(3.6 / 5)

I picked their company based on price alone. It was a great deal. I had no problems with getting my bill by email every month, and I liked that they sent it .pdf, so I didn't have to log in to look at the bill. (They do only give it to you about 2 weeks before it is due though). Unfortunately, when it came time to renew, their prices were a lot higher than most of the other companies. They sent me several emails with 'deals' to renew, but every one of them was higher than the average of the other companies on powertochoose.org. I also appreciated that they reminded me of when my contract was going to expire, so I wasn't surprised when the rates went up. But at the end of the day, they didn't want to keep their customers long term, so I switched to save a few bucks. I would recommend them---if their rates are good on the day you are looking.

watch your rate on your bill CLOSELY

(3 / 5)

I was promised 8.6 cents if I signed up for autopay (the discount for autopay was .5 cents). The first month they 'forgot' to put me on autopay and I had to pay 11.9 cents because it was a partial month and I didn't use enough electricity to get the lower rate (I was only with SWPL for a week). I didn't appreciate that they wouldn't prorate it. The second month, I was on autopay and got charged 9.3 cents. They said their system runs a month behind on the autopay credit, so the autopay discount wouldn't take for another month. Another ripoff as far as I'm concerned. They also said that all electric companies require you to use 2,000 kwhs to get the advertised rate, which is why I got charged 9.3 cents instead of 9.1 cents. I didn't print out the original electricity facts label and it has changed several times in the last two months, but I sure don't remember it that way. I've used a half dozen companies in the last fifteen years, this one seems especially devious to me. Also, their website is terrible. Four of the last five times I tried to access my bill, every link I clicked on timed out instead of taking me to the webpages.

Had Champion for six months. Rate was very competitive, but online
payments were not possible due to a dysfunctional website which never
worked. Consequently I switched providers.
Additionally Champion only uses 3% renuable energy, and I have
switched to a provider using 100% renuable energy.

Great company, but expensive

(2.2 / 5)

Granted, I live in an older, not very well insulated apartment with one energy efficient major kitchen appliance, but after the TDU fees and all, I pay $135/month on average. I also missed the fine print that you're charged $10 if you use less than 1000 kW, which was the case when I tried to lessen my expenses by turning off everything on surge protectors.

I haven't had any issues requiring me to call customer service, I just attribute the expense to my selecting them as my option and not using the Power To Choose website. I'll soon be moving and changing companies as well. One with no minimum electricity usage.
