Star Tex Power - The Best Electricity Provider

(5 / 5)

Startex power has been the best electricity provider I ever had so far. The order experience was so quick and fuss free thus, I was stress free. The plan I chose was so energy/cost efficient that I have no complaints with the billing. For the first time, I feel that I am being billed accurately and honestly. I am more than satisfied with Star Tex Power. Two thumbs up! Excellent!

Lower bills

(5 / 5)

I have used Amigo several times over the past 5 years. My bill was always considerably lower with the bundled plan available with Amigo. I also signed my parents up and they are very happy with the drastic drop in their electric bill. the past two months. I would highly recommend Amigo to anyone wanting to lower their bill.

Good service and easy payment

(4.2 / 5)

The online payment is easy and has no extra unexpected charges. The service is good, setup was super easy (all quickly done online), and our bill was lower than we estimated! $40 last month for a two bed/two bath apartment on the top floor in the summer (we keep the apartment on 75 when we are home and 80 when we are gone). Love the price and it's been super easy to manage.

Awesome customer service!!

(4.2 / 5)

I had the most amazing customer service experience with 4 change energy. My situation was quite complicated but Sheryl helped me to get a resolution and I am very happy with the results. She was very patient and friendly during the whole process. I wish every company had a "Sheryl" in their customer service department.

No longer competitive

(3.6 / 5)

I have been a Star Tex customer for at least two years. My contract is up for renewal, and at first I was going to renew with Star Tex; but I, too will have to switch providers. When I shop for rates, I am seeing prices as low as 8.8 cents per KWH from some companies, with most in the 9.2 to 9.5 cent range. I switched from Reliant because Star Tex had such good rates. I have never had any customer service issues with Star Tex, but I am frankly shocked to see their rates are now on the high end of the spectrum (10.7 per kwh). I can even get better rates now with Reliant!

I see several postings on that ratings site from customers who had the same experience as me. They loved the service but are leaving for better rates. I am not saying Star Tex has to be the lowest; but they are simply no longer competitive. It's a hassle to have to set up a new account with a new provider, but this price hike is too much to take.

Two bills in one month

(3.4 / 5)

Paid my August bill and then 10 days later got another August bill. I called Texas direct and was told that I didn't have account with them anymore and they wonder if I had even electricity anymore. CRAZY!! I been with Startex for more than two and a half years. Even got a new one year plan now. Had to call 3 times to get straightened up with a specialist . Was told my service was stopped by computer mistakes and it would take more than 2 weeks to correct. CRAZY!! Still waiting on my September bill. Hope I don't get some crazy amount. I've always paid my bills before they are due when they arrived in the mail.

Disappointed!

(3.2 / 5)

I'm really disappointed with the way the company behaved during hurricane season. I've been their customer for 4 plus years. During Harvey they wrote to me asking if I needed help. As I am a part time teacher I did not work for three weeks as the schools were closed. 4change were really nice and told me they'll waive off my bill for two months. I was overwhelmed with gratitude. However one month down the road I started getting two months bill and then a disconnection notice. I sent them our correspondence as reminder and they were apologetic asking me to ignore the notices. After 15 days I suddenly got a call while I was out of state telling me theyre disconnecting my services unless I make immediate payment. I was shocked. I had everything on record and sent it to them. However they kept insisting and presented me with two months bill. I was still struggling to get back on m feet and my roommate was not present and I had no choice but to make the payment immediately. Im really sad that they did this to me.

Utterly incompetent Billing that only exists to generate fees.

(2.2 / 5)

I used online bill pay, like I have with every other company I deal with, and Summer Energy "says" that they didn't receive my money. Every other company will waive fees if there is a mistake, but of course they loaded me up with fees instantly, and generated disconnect notices. I would look for a more reputable company.

electric shock in the brain

(1.1 / 5)

We have been doing buisness for this company for a while now and we have been very disappointed with their professionalism, there is no comminication between the workers or with customers when we changed address's they sent us our final bill for this home which we paid ,then after we had moved and been in our new home for several months we get a call saying they were cutting off our power on christmas eve for a past due ammout from other property for 60 bucks ,this enraged me because we paid the bill for the last property and it said final, now i get one several months later when i called they basicly said it was their mistake that they had refigured after we paid the final bill, and seen we still owed 60, and we still have to pay by christmas eve or they will disconnect,i told them how unfair this was money is tight during christmas and i had to scrape to pay my 190.00 bill and now i have to pay and additional 60 that i didnt know i owed and still dont believe i owe.

Dont' Use them

(1 / 5)

I have been with Frontier for over 2 years. My rate with up to .14KW and when Harvey hit Houston they did not extend the payment. The guy on the phone was rude and told me that I got my bill in August which it was due Aug 30 and he said I should have paid it before the Hurricane. I will be moving to another company.

Save your money and do not sign up with this company!

(0.4 / 5)

I've been with Gexa for 3 years and I have to say, I feel like a fool for staying that long. Once I compared with other companies and I read the reviews for Gexa, I realized that I threw out hundreds and hundreds of my hard earned dollars. As a single mom living in Houston, Texas, I can't afford to be with them any longer (especially with summer on the way). I read about Beyond Power and saw they had hardly any complaints in the past 10 MONTHS! As for Gexa, it seemed to have nothing but unhappy customers. My highest bill in 2016 so far was $162.59 in March. Beyond Energy would've saved me 30.59% and my bill would've been $49.67 cheaper!

Gexa Energy's customer service on the other hand.... Not so great. Finding your company is already a confusing process, paying for your bill should be plain and simple. When I want to talk to a person, I get a computer.

Do your research before you sign up with this company!
