Market Prices – Green Plans

by | Mar 3, 2010 | Industry News

Alright. Today is the 3rd part of a weekly setup I’m going to be looking at moving forward in regards to the prices in the Texas electricity market. So what’s on the slate for today? Prices of Green Energy. Now, I forget what the exact details are in regards to how much of an electricity plan has to be renewable electricity (wind, solar, geothermal, etc.) to be classified as a Green plan. I think that percentage is 25%. However, for our purposes here as we look at green energy I’m only going to be looking at plans where 100% of the electricity in the plan comes from environmentally friendly sources. It’s not an uncommon practice for companies to mix 25% green energy, while the rest comes from more conventional sources to keep the costs competitive and still be able to call it an environmentally friendly plan, but we’re only interested in 100% plans. So without further ado, the cheapest green energy plans on the market:

Green Month to Month Plans:

  • Dynowatt – 8.8
  • Southwest Power & Light – 9.5
  • YEP – 9.6
  • Kinetic – 10.1
  • Green Fixed Plans:

  • YEP 3 month – 9.7
  • Gexa 6 month- 10.4
  • Kinetic 1 year- 10.5
  • Champion 1 year- 10.6
  • So it looks like Dynowatt, YEP, and Kinetic have some good deals going on right now. If you’re shopping for environmentally friendly energy in a Texas market with electric choice, here are some good places to start your search. Of course, you can do your comparing and shopping at Texas Electricity Ratings.
