Today’s entry into the Texas electricity examines the North Texas area (AEP North), which covers electricity in Abilene and electricity in San Angelo. The electricity rates in North Texas are typically around the same price as electricity in Houston. Just like in the other regions of Texas, there are currently some fixed rate electricity plans coming in at cheaper rates than the month to month electricity plans. This is the first time I’ve seen that happen, and in my opinion it’s a clear sign that consumers should be looking into long term electricity plans over anything short term. Especially considering prices are the lowest they’ve been in years, and are definitely cheaper than the rates customers will find in the summertime.
