Pros and Cons

Pros: This is a flat rate, so there won't be any big bill surpsies month to month. Cons: This plan is still expensive, so in some ways, the bill will be an unpleasant surprise every month.

TXU's Simple Rate 12 plan is a fixed rate plan. What that means is that the kWh rates between the usage levels of 500, 1000, and 2000 are pretty close together, so there won't be any big bill fluctuations based on usage. Unfortuantely, the Energy Charge on this plan is still extremely high, 25% higher than some other's weve seen, and the rate in question doesn't seem in include transportation fees from the utility. What that adds up to is almost certainly an exremely high bill every month. The plan also has a very high monthly recurring charge of $9.95 a month, which is pretty standard for TXU. There are similar plans on the market for much, much cheaper.

Who should buy this plan

Who should buy this plan? I suppose a case could be made for people who simply don't have any concerns about monthly utility bills and what the costs are to keep their home powered. I'm not attempting to be glib or flippant, but this plan is expensive compared to the rest of the market and offers nothing customers can't get elsewhere, for cheaper.

This is a 12 month, or one year, fixed rate electricity plan. So customers can be confident their bills won't have large fluctuations. The Energy Charge is as much as 25% above the current market, and the utility transportation fees aren't even incldued in the overall rate. The cancellation fee is $150 if a customer leaves their contract early. The monthly recurring charge is $9.95 per month.
