Recommended plans in McKinney
Champ Saver-24 from Champion Energy Services
- Our Review: Champions plans are all pretty similar, and their 24 month plan is more of the same. Champion plans are flat and have similar kWh rates across the three different usage thresholds, which means that customers won't have any big bill surprises in store if they use 500 kWh, 1500 kWh, or 2500 kWh. The plan has a pretty competitive energy charge, which also keeps your monthly bills low. The plan has no monthly recurring or base charge, and it has a cancellation fee of $250. So be sure not to cancel your conract after only a year. Also, most importantly, this plan is an All Included deal. So when you're looking at the EFL, you will see that the kWh rate you see advertised includes all of the TDU transportation fees, as well. Which is why the rate might look high, but the bills are reasonable.
- Pros: Champion's 24 month plan is predictable, pretty affordable, and comes with no surprises.
- Cons: Not the absolute cheapest plan out there, but not the most expensive.
- Plan Type: Fixed Rate
- Rate: 14.7 - 16.3 cents per kWh
- Term: 24 Months

Maxx Saver Select 24 from 4Change Energy
- Our Review: 4Change's Maxx Saver Select 24 plan is one of many bill credit plans that have limited utility. The $100 bill credit kicks in at a usage level of 1k, so for anyone using less than that each month, like an apartment dweller, the plan rate is horribly high. If they use over a 1k, the bill credit kicks in and the rate becomes pretty competitive. But if you use much more over 1k, the the very high energy charge of the plan takes over and that bill credit becomes less and less effective.
- Pros: This plan has a huge bill $100 credit at 1k kWh of usage
- Cons: If you use under 1k or well over 2k, the bill credit basically doesn't help you
- Plan Type: Bill Credit
- Rate: 12.3 - 23.6 cents per kWh
- Term: 24 Months

About McKinney Texas
The McKinney History
The land where the city currently stands was owned by William Davis, who acquired the 3,000 acres in 1849. He started by donating 120 acres for the development of a town. After ten years, McKinney was incorporated, and the town acquired a commission type of government in 1913. McKinney served as the principal commercial center of its county for the first 125 years. The purpose of the county seat was to provide farmers with cotton mills, flour, banks, cottonseed oil mill, newspapers, churches, schools, and cotton gin, to mention a few. It was in 1880 that the government gave the residents access to an opera house.
The town experienced fast economic development stages, and the businesses came to include a vast dairy, a textile mill, a garment manufacturing company, and an ice company. Due to the advancements, there was a fast population growth rate since the population grew from 35 citizens to 4,714 citizens as of 1912. As of 1953, McKinney had a total population of more than 10,000 citizens and 355 businesses. The town was allowed to continue serving as an agribusiness center to its county until the late 1960s. Until 1970, McKinney was a big place, but Plano surpassed it since the city had now started experiencing moderate population growth, according to the 1970 census. There were 15,193 citizens in the city, while in 1990, the city's total population was 21,283.
