How We Rate

We aggregate data from multiple sources, including our customer reviews, rates, Public Utility Commission statistics, JD Power ratings, Better Business Bureau, and surveys.

Good Charlie is a Houston electricity provider who's value proposition is that part of their profits go to support rescue pet charities, and customers have access to a set of free pet/veterinary perks through Good Charlie.

In our estimation, Good Charlie sometimes gives mixed messages on whether a customer has actually been accepted, and this can often be confusing to shoppers. On top of that, their rates can be high. Not the best mix for customer experience.

While Good Charlie has a popular mission statement, there are been many reviews stating that their Pet Perks plan weren't everything that was advertised, and their PUC rating is right in the middle at 3/5 stars. But one customer claims the Pet Perks saved their cat's life. So it's a mixed bag.

Like other electricity companies with unique mission statements, Good Charlie has plenty of passionate fans. Sometimes you see cars with Good Charlie bumper stickers. But for people just looking for an electricity provider, Good Charlie doesn't seem to check all the boxes. Rates are high, and communication and customer service can be uneven.
