Great power choice
I needed to switch providers in order to save money. I researched and located Energy Texas and received a lower price. I was able to do everything on line. The switch was effortless and the interface with the company has been easy, all handled on line.
Thanks for your review!

For a no bull company they sure did put their foot in it!
Don't trust them. Signed a contract with them and they changed the terms 2 months later. When I pointed out that we have a contract they said they would wave the cancelation fee if we wanted out. For a no bull company they sure did put their foot in it!
Hi there - We did change our solar buy back terms and we notified you, as well as all of our solar buy back customers, on March 24th 2023 via email that these changes would take effect on May 1st. Our buy back rate now matches the market clearing price of energy, capped at your energy charge. We have also introduced surge pricing, where during high demand periods, you will be able to sell back energy at higher rates. We understand that these terms may not work for everyone, which is why we waived early termination fees for solar customers, as stated in the email sent on March 24th for a period of time. As always, we appreciate our customer's feedback.

Solar PV Owners looking for BuyBack Should Find Another provider
If you have a Solar PV System, stay away. They sold me on a good Solar Buyback plan that paid the same back to me as I paid, minus the Centerpoint charges and their monthly fee, then they changed it after only a few months on their plan. Yes, they gave me 30 days notice to leave the plan without penalty, but that was while I was still on the equal buyback option. After it actually changed and I saw what it did to my bill, I wanted to leave, but it was too late without the penalty. They should have let us see what a bill would look like with the new plan. In one month, when my bill should have been less because I produced more electricity, my bill went up about $66. There are better options and I can't leave without paying a $250 penalty. I lost respect for what I thought was going to be a great company.
Hi Doran - We appreciate the feedback and will have a follow up with you today via email.

Poor Business Practices
I have all my bill on Autopay and they all come out on the same day every month, the Due Date. But Energy Texas takes it out when ever they feel like sometimes the 1st other times the 3rd or 5th. The Due date is the 7th and thats when I expect it to come out. Wouldnt be a big deal if I had tons of extra money but I dont and dont get paid until the 4th. Customer Service was not helpful left me on hold for a long period of time ,comes back to tell me there is not a Supervisor/Manager that I could speak with and he will try to maybe have someone call me in the morning. But if they dont call I should call back. So thank you for nothing Energy Texas
Hi there - We appreciate your feedback. Pease email howdy@energytexas.com so that we can help to resolve your issue. We do offer the ability to pick your own due date, so that should alleviate any issues you may have.

Billing and disconnect
Bills were paid on time. followed up with bank to confirm bills were paid and date texas electricity received bills. all was good. Paid each time on the due date of bill. received disconnect notices on a Friday and the notice was written up on the same day as the due date of the bill... which was paid. 1st time did not get disconnected but we got a notice. 2nd time they sent disconnect notice again and disconnect power on Monday. They were paid. I called and they told me can take up to 10 days to process payments. I said to them so if a bill is due on the 11th you really need a payment on the 1st so you will not disconnect us. He said yes. So their billing is false so they can charge you a disconnect fee and a reconnect fee. They received payment on the due date so they should mark as paid. Can't help it if their accounting takes up to 10 business days to process. Not my issue it is theirs. I work from home and power got disconnect on a Monday I had to pay with a credit card so they would turn on the power. They still have not processed the check payment and it has been over 2 weeks. We cancelled with them and moved to another company. They sent us a bill stating we owe them for the disconnect and reconnect bill plus the early disconnection. Not paying for this. They screwed up not us. Would have stayed with them if their billing was done properly. Person I talked to said wire transfers and checks take up to 10 days to process even if was paid on the due date which means they will disconnect you even though they have your payment in hand. Account should be marked paid not how long it takes for them to process payments from banks.
Hi Karen - It sounds like you are using your bank's bill pay system to pay your bill. If you bank with a larger bank, we are integrated to receive funds electronically for bank bill pay. If you have a smaller bank, many times banks will withdraw the funds from your bank account at the time you initiate your payment however, you bank will print and mail a physical check to our payment processing mailbox. Energy Texas does not receive the funds instantly, which is the reason that you received a disconnection notice. To ensure payments are processed in a timely manner, we advise customers who want to pay by bill pay with a smaller bank or check to allow extra time for your bank to print and mail the check, as well as for Energy Texas to receive it. I am having a hard time locating your account so if you can email us at howdy@energytexas.com, we can review your account and follow up with you personally to resolve your lost check.

Don't look. Just run.
Don't look. Just run. Fancy website, terrible customer service, one-way communication, won't go the extra step to admit their wrongs. Signed a 3 year fixed solar plan with them earlier this year. What interest me was the fixed buyback plan they offered when having net exports at the end of the year. They changed their energy buyback plan (which in the contract was an option) just over a month ago to a variable market rate. Called them today after I had called weeks ago, left a voicemail, and never got a call back. Had questions over a bill increase. Was informed that they sent out emails over this buyback change. Was informed that I read this email. However after scouring through every folder in my emails...I never received this email. An email that waived an ETF in the event that I wanted to go with another energy provider. Upset that I never received this email, and never received a phone call back in a timely manner that could have opened options to waive this ETF. Unless upper leadership wants to remedy a situation, I'm now stuck with this energy provider for 3 years or pay a hefty ETF fee since I am dissatisfied with their buyback policies/decision changes.

I only went to energy texas due to their buy back program. I was very happy they first few months. Then they changed their solar "program" and this month I sent them over 250kw more than last month, but my credit dropped over 60% from the previous month. Called in to see if they could fix it. Nope. Its a program not the contract that changed. So if I'm unhappy i have to pay $500 to cancel the contract. There's a reason I hadn't heard of this company before. And now I know! Shady company. Do not do business with these smoke and mirrors theives
