Ambit just adds extra fees when they want to
I was an Ambit customer for about 8 months and then, out of nowhere, they started adding a $2.50 "Electronic Processing Fee" to my bill for now reason. When I asked about it, they Customer Service Rep, who was outside on a windy day with a super-thick, barely understandable accent, said that it was on the bill and she couldn't remove it. Why $2.50? Why not $25? or $250? Just some BS fee that Ambit decided to add and wasn't part of the Terms of Service or ETF. After 15 minutes of asking about it and trying to get to a supervisor, they were able to give me a $30 credit (to offset the fee for a year). Ridiculous.
Solar plan isnt as good as others
I have solar so I got on Ambit's solar plan. I produce enough energy through solar that I should be able to have a $0. However, Ambit's solar credits don't cover the "Base Charge" or Oncor Delivery charges so my bill is almost as much as before I got solar panels.
Cancelling your account is a pain
I needed to cancel my account due moving to an area that does not offer ambit. When talking with the agent, she kept asking me why I want to cancel and when I explained that its due to where I was moving and that I have a new electric company, she used my forwarding address to look up to let me know that it is offered in my area (its not per the ambit website). I explained to her again that I want to cancel. She then proceeds to ask what company I am switching to and what rate they are offering. I told her that I do not need to give that information and that I just want to cancel. She said she needed the info to process the account cancellation. I asked to be transferred to someone else and was told that its not possible. I started to get aggravated as all I wanted to do was cancel. 15 minutes to cancel

Overcharging after move out
Moved out on Oct 7th but they were still sending me bills through jan 18th despite canceling by chat and by phone three different times during the period.
Never stick with unfair company.
They dont give better options for you pay your bill. If you pay late your payment plan just few days. They charge over again. I having been paying lot money for this unfair company.
Over charging customers
I signed on with ambit and left reliant this was a big mistake over periods of time your bill increases. There billing cycle is messed up if you check your bill they charge a late fee and disconnect fee monthly with out notifying you.. when you ask to be disconnected they tell you there is an additional fee for that as well. Over all I'm very disappointed in the customer service and the over charging. I would not recommend this company to anyone who is a honest person and pays there bills on time.
Sounds good at first
Bills will be reasonable at first but then the bills get higher and higher. No way I should be paying 446 for a small 1bd. Worst energy company and Ill be relieved to get rid of them soon. Didnt realize I was over paying until I heard what other people pay with an even bigger place than I have. Its way less.
Trash
Ambit energy is trash, you will pay your bill on time and they will still disconnect your account and then charge you for reconnect. They will say oh sorry your payment isnt showing on our end even when you prove it by showing a successful receipt and bank statement that the money came out the refuse to believe it. Honestly I think there are a couple of felonies the big wigs are committing or whoever authorized this kinda behavior. Honestly we would all be better if ambit energy went bankrupt and ceased to exist. Also everyone should contact the better business bureau and report them.
Over priced with crazy termination fees
We never committed to a year-long contract with them, and they still charged us with termination fees after charging over 22c / kw which is double what most provides charge.
The worst!!
Over priced even when living in a small apartment. Even when nothing was being used or plugged, electricity bill still went up during my leave/vacation. I called and they have the worst customer service.
Charged me for 2 property
I had turned on the energy at a rental property 1 day before i moved in. Rental company did not let me move in so i called the energy company and told them to move the energy to my new apartment. they said they did and everything was fine until 2 months later i get an email while a balance due at the previous rental property. first why am i getting a first bill that is due almost 2 and a half months after i initially turned on the energy at that property? Weird. instead of moving my energy contract to the new property they made a new account and did not cancel or move the first rental properties. so now i have 2 electricity bills one from my apartment and the other from a home that i have never lived in. I called and they said that they could not do anything about it so now i have to pay 2 energy bills
Not transparent
Received competitive kwh pricing when I signed up, but when I received my first bill I saw there was a $37 charge for clearlink, which they said is the company that reads the meter. I was very dissappointed, especially since I never knew this charge was going to be added, or else I wouldn't have ever gone with ambit. The customer service reps stated it was on the contract, which I had also never received. Looking back, it seemed like the first rep I spoke to was intentionally holding this info back so that they could make the sale.
Horrible Customer Service
Very Expensive & terrible customer service. Locking you in is a scam. Charging $2.50 for an automated system to take my payment is the biggest rip off. I cant wait to dump these money hungry bozos.
Over charging
My electric bill with ambit energy is almost 3 times higher than amigo, and past electric companies used in the Fort Worth area...I would never recommend them
Avoid at all costs!!!
Upon move in to my apartment in Sept 2022, the Apartment Rep stated I would be getting a call from their "preferred" electric company to set up my account. And it's all downhill from there. I was charged a deposit fee, then it was refunded, AFTER, I unfroze my credit. But they had to set up a new account to credit me for the unnecessary charge. I did get a credit to my 1st and second bill. Then, from November till July, the bills were what felt was high for a studio apartment, But I continued to pay it in full and on time, however, that changed with the July bill, it was $50 higher, What!!?? I called and asked WTF?? The rep, (who did not speak the best english) told me to contact Oncor, the energy provider and to ask why the bill was so exorbitant. I then ask if I decide to cancel the bill would I be charged an early termination fee, I was told no, on 3 occasions in the same recorded phone call. That call was July 12, 2023. On July 14, 2023, I received a bill with a $218 early termination fee. I called Ambit on the same day and spoke to a Rep named "Janelle" who said "if it's on the invoice, then that is what is owed." The final invoice included the July 2023 amount that I had paid in full earlier that day. The rep stated they could not reprint a revised bill and would not address the conversation from the 12th of July, where I was told there would NOT be a termination fee. I asked for a Supervisor, was transferred to Deidra, and I asked her to pull the recorded call from July 12th, and honor the rep's statement about the no cancelation fee. I told her I was willing to pay for the last 7 days of service I DID use with the company, but not the additional fee i was told would not be charged. She stated she would request the recorded call and determine a possible waiver of the termination fee and call me back by Noon July 15th, 2023. It's now 1:50pm. JULY 15, 2023 . . . No call. So, I called and was told Diedra was not available today and a supervisor that is on hand at that time, named Angela would handle the request. Angela states she will listen to the call and call me back today by 4:30pm. We shall see. Do not do business with this company. Rates are unreal, customer service is atrocious. The apt management here has since changed, so the apartment rep that was getting a kickback from the Ambit Rep is gone. But Knightvest management beware, she may be at one of your other properties here in Ft Worth, hustling the same racket.

Solar plan isnt as good as others
