Best Constellation Plans as reviewed by Texas Electricity Ratings

12 Month (No Min Usage Fee)

Our Rating:
Plan Term: 12 Months
Plan Type: Fixed Rate

Constellation's 12 Month Residential Fixed Rate electricity plan is a standard, no frills electricity plan. It is a flat plan, meaning that the kWh charge is similar across all three usage tiers. That means customers get predictable, reliable bills with no Gotchas, in exchange for maybe not having the lowest possible electricity bills. It's good for people looking to be able to consistently predict their electricity bills every month.
thumb_upPros:
Steady, predictable bills
thumb_downCons:
Not the cheapest rate, no special discounts

12 Month Usage Bill Credit

Our Rating:
Plan Term: 12 Months
Plan Type: Bill Credit

Constellation's 12 Month Fixed Rate with Usage Bill Credit plan is one of the first Bill Credit plans that hit the market, and it's still consistently one of the best values. What makes this bill credit plan different from most is that it has two separate credits, one at 1,000 kWh of usage, and another smaller credit at 2,000 kWh of usage. What this means is this plan doesn't just pay off for customers if they hit an exact usage bullseye, it makes sure they have savings that continue to be built in the more energy a customer uses. This way you see low average kWh charges as long as you're a consistent high energy consumer, which makes this one of the more reliable Bill Credit plans on the market. Even though the energy charge is a bit high, the bill credits keep the overall bills low, as long as you use a lot of electricity.
thumb_upPros:
Great Bill Credits at 1k and 2k usage
thumb_downCons:
High Energy Charge

12Mo Usage Bill Credit + A/C Protection for 2 Units and HVAC Monitoring

Our Rating:
Plan Term: 12 Months
Plan Type: Bill Credit

Constellation's 12 Month Residential Fixed Rate With Usage Bill Credit and A/C Protection for 2 Units is a decent plan for customers with small or medium homes and just one A/C unit. The plan comes with warranty style coverage for some percentage of the unit if they were to be replaced. The plan itself doesn't have bad rates, and the bill credits at 1,000 kWh and 2,000 kWh help keep the total bill costs down. For high energy consomption users, this plan makes sense for folks looking for some peace of mind around waranty coverage for their home A/C units. It also includes HVAC Monitoring.

24 Month A/C Protect Plus for 2 Units

Their website has been down for over a month and half. And it takes 15-30mins to make a payment over the phone. It a total waste of time and super inconvenient.

No notification received prior to contract ending. My electricity bill doubled 450-900 when the contract ran out. There is no reason that the default plan should cost double

VERY UNETHICAL PRACTICES - Called to inquire about electric service as their home warranty perk with being a customer seemed like a good deal which would protect us from the possible high costs of AC and water heater repairs. Even though their price per KW is higher, my wife and I concluded it was worth the piece of mind of future unexpected repair expenses. When signing up, we asked a lot of questions regarding coverage and were told everything is covered unless specifically excluded which seemed like very few things which were mainly maintenance related. Fast forward, and our A/C breaks down 6 months into our contract. We were happy to know we wouldn't have to worry about this, especially with twin babies at home during the Texas summer months. We filed our claim and they sent one of their 3rd party companies to inspect our A/C which left us with an invoice of 3500 and said to call Constellation regarding repair coverage. Upon calling, Constellation's warranty department which goes by Home Protect, proceeds to tell us our part needed is not covered and falls under items excluded in the contract. When I ask to please forward contract reflecting this, they tell us they cannot because it was in the welcome package we would have received through regular mail. I eventually reach a service rep who is able to forward us the original welcome package that was sent to us with contract included. Upon review, we notice it Does Not mention our part as one of those excluded from coverage. We call Constellation's warranty claims department back and get transferred to same manager who we let know that we were able to get the contract and can now see it does not show our part as one of the excluded ones on the list. She then changes her approach to tell us in a very condescending manner that actually if it's not on the list of covered parts, then it's assumed it will not be covered.

I signed up for a 3 month term do to a short term lease and I was informed that a 3 month contract isn't a 3 month contract it is a 3 month billing cycle term. They had no issues in trying to get me to renew and pushed on that heavily. I am not sure when a 3 month contract turned into a 3 billing cycle term, so be sure to look out for that. Do not recommend since whatever you sign doesn't mean what you actually get.

This is a horrid company and their is no level of customer service. It is based on sales and that is their bottom line. It is structure to syphon from its users and to get people into a rock and a hard place. DO NOT go with this service provider!

Fraudulent fraudster company, billing customer of service they did not consume, how will I not be in the property, every appliance off switch, and Constellation still sends me a very higher bill than the months I am actively living in the property, and even after calling to close the account? Thrives, arm Roberson with out Guns
