I have enjoyed being with Constellation since I moved back to Houston. Never in my lifetime have I ever had such a lower priced Electric bill since living in Houston. AT one time HL& P-"RELIANT was the monopoly here in Houston. They charged more for my utility bill in my small apt as opposed to my larger home IN NW. I am so glad RELIANT energy now has other competitors.

Order was easy. Account transfer no problem. First bill was higher than EFL facts said it was going to be. The distribution charge from the electric distributor was about $10 higher than what EFL said. Called Constellation and asked why, they said distribution charges had gone. They went up the first month after I switched. False advertising by Constellation.

I had no issues with billing which is usually the cause to hate them. I had an issue with signing up since I had my credit locked. I wish they would tell online you who they use to check your credit so people can unfreeze or unlock their credit before hand. Like all electric company's they get you in with a good rate then charge a lot more to renew, but all companies do that. All that being said it was a good experience with them and I wish I could stay with them but on to the next with a better rate.

Had some billing issues early on, but not exactly providers fault. All in all everything was great, however as always good things don't last. Provider probably won't make my current plan available on renewal as it was more likely promotional to attract business, so will have to look for affordable options elsewhere to keep costs in check

There should be an online method to renew policy... Either I was not patient or the rep talked slowly, either way when I'm at work taking the time out for all the repeated question was a bit weary. When someone satisfied with the services, the option to renew is given.

I have really been a very happy customer from day one with constellation the service is great the prices have been great I'm very sad that I did not sign up for a longer-term because now it's about to go up 2 point 9% and that's going to throw me off my fixed income which may force me to have to look for another company only so I can afford to pay the bill not because I have any complaints with the company at all they have been great.

How in the world do you reach a live person regardless of the option chosen? I have spent many hours in the queue on multiple occasions for hours, then the call drops OR the Representatives purposely disconnect my calls. I must speak to someone since my request cannot be made on line! Go figure. Yes, due to the high call volume, we cannot accept you call. Well, hire more employees for God's sake!

Constellation Energy disconnected my service without properly notifying me. When you call Customer Service, they will verify that they have the right phone number for you three times, but no one will take 1 minute to actually use it to call you, even if you owe them money. It just happens. No letter, no email, no phone call. Nothing. It's easier for them to just let your service get disconnected. Then, of course, you'll contact them to pay your bill. It's easier for them that way. They don't have to lift a finger. Very poor treatment.

Billing is easy to read and understand, when it came time to renew I called and the customer service line was answered quickly, they spent time answering all of my questions to help me decide on the best plan for my needs. Pricing seems comparable to my last electric company before they were bought by Direct Energy who I do not recommend.

We signed up with Constellation from Reliant due to the rate being lower. However, their fee to Centerpoint is higher which is really never spelled out. It's very difficult in comparing all of the providers since they all use a different format to explain their plans. Our first month my bill was higher than last year with Reliant. Hopefully we'll see an improvement during the hot summer months.

Buried somewhere in the fine print is a clause that allows them to charge me way more than I thought because I am a very high volume electricity consumer. So my bill ended up being twice as much as my previous provider who charges the fee they quoted (9.4cents/kw) regardless of the amount used. Consequently; I will be paying the cancellation fee and switching to another provider.

First things first, both reps I spoke with during the hour I was on the phone were professional and very courteous. I believe Constellation did what they could to "fix" the issue for which I called (read on).Today is the first day of my relationship with Constellation so I have no feedback other than the phone reps handled my issue to my satisfaction. I am happy to update my review if possible when I have some time with Constellation under my belt.I signed up for a plan with decent rates, $0.00 monthly charges. The "thank you" email I received from Constellation showed the exact plan BUT with 3.49 monthly fee. I spent an hour on the phone with Constellation, 2 reps. First rep said the $3.49 is an Oncor fee (I get that, but the plan said $0.00). The second rep apologized for the confusion and credited my account $10 and took the URL I used to select them and promised to send to marketing folks.I was told that every plan will have an Oncor charge, and I believe that. I would not have a problem with this if the Constellation plan I selected did not show $0.00.The hour spent with Constellation on this weekday cost me more than the total I will pay them for the $3.49 charge over the couse of this plan term. But, in my experience, when one thing is wrong then other things are probably wrong - I have no reason to think that... yet.

Paid my August bill and then 10 days later got another August bill. I called Texas direct and was told that I didn't have account with them anymore and they wonder if I had even electricity anymore. CRAZY!! I been with Startex for more than two and a half years. Even got a new one year plan now. Had to call 3 times to get straightened up with a specialist . Was told my service was stopped by computer mistakes and it would take more than 2 weeks to correct. CRAZY!! Still waiting on my September bill. Hope I don't get some crazy amount. I've always paid my bills before they are due when they arrived in the mail.

I chose StarTex Power from several providers in the area. Their rates seem competitive and my service has been great. However, after my initial 6 month contract expired, StarTex never bothered to notify me or ask me to renew. They simply let my contract expire, started charging me a higher, non-contract rate. It's a shady practice and I feel like they've risked losing me as a customer for the $25 they swindled from me. As soon as I renewed, my rate dropped again but clearly I'll need to remember to renew early to avoid their expiration scam.

I've been with them for almost 5 years. I made a mid-plan switch in May/Jun '09, when rates sank and I was tied into their 3 yr (roughly $.14/kWh rate) and got into another 3 year for (then) $.119/kWh. I had a bit of back and forth with them after the switch as their billing department didn't get the word that i was in a new plan. After 2 months, they got it straight. The only thing was I allowed them to continue billing the CC as I didn't want to discontinue and draw their ire. Shortly after I noticed that they never updated my new 3 yr plan 'end' date. After I called, they told me it was May/Jun of 2012. You can bet your last buck that I'll be on top of the change so that I'm not thrown into the non-plan summer rate. For others to note (but check, i'm not sure if it's law or the company's position) - but they told me I could submit my 'switch' request 15 days before the last period started). Be sure to check, don't take my word on this.

Overall-I'd definitely refer them!

I have been a Star Tex customer for at least two years. My contract is up for renewal, and at first I was going to renew with Star Tex; but I, too will have to switch providers. When I shop for rates, I am seeing prices as low as 8.8 cents per KWH from some companies, with most in the 9.2 to 9.5 cent range. I switched from Reliant because Star Tex had such good rates. I have never had any customer service issues with Star Tex, but I am frankly shocked to see their rates are now on the high end of the spectrum (10.7 per kwh). I can even get better rates now with Reliant!I see several postings on that ratings site from customers who had the same experience as me. They loved the service but are leaving for better rates. I am not saying Star Tex has to be the lowest; but they are simply no longer competitive. It's a hassle to have to set up a new account with a new provider, but this price hike is too much to take.

I have been a Star Tex Power customer for the past 2 and half years. Although their rates were a little higher than their competitors their billing and customer service was always great.
However, my 12 month fixed rate contract recently expired and my 8.750 rate went to 13.390 on my next billing cycle. Evidently they don't mind gouging their current customer base with an excessively higher rate and really don't mind retaining current customers! I felt taken advantage of (screwed to us the popular venacular). Obviously, I went with one of their competitors renewing with a 7.9 fixed rate. Good bye and good riddens Star Tex Power. I hope you figure out that treating your current customer base fairly and equitablely is what keeps you in business.

I have been with StarTex for several years now, have not had any major problems and would gladly renew with them if they offered a more favorable rate . My complaint is that every time my contract expires, their rates offered are not as competitive as some other companies. I typically get a 12 month contract and use approximately 500-1000 kwh per month. In their offer for renewal, the additional minimum charge for low usage is now being applied for usage below 1000 kwh instead of below 500 kwh, which drives my effective rate higher. I am once again being forced to evaluate other offers and will likely go with a different company if their renewal offer is the best they can do.

I've been a Startex customer for several years now, Last year I willing signed up for another 12 months. I knew it wasn't the lowest rate on the market but all my hassle free experience with them I felt a couple of cents for less hassle was worth it. At least much better than a former company known by me as Second to last Choice (First Choice) but... Since being bought out by Constellation it seems this luxury will cost me more. or will it? Startex give me a reason why I should stay? Last year your company allowed a digit drop. This year I waited to see this offer and....nothing, well except much higher prices. I will be calling to see if you can offer something to keep a customer. If not I guess you will leave me no choice but to jump the fence and swim with the sharks again. We locked in good rates for the last two years and looked at renewing today. The price pr Kwh change is radically higher. My wife talked with customer service to try to maintain a reasonable rate and was offered even higher rates. Not a good sign for retaining our custom. We recently persuaded our caregiver to switch over to StarTex (I know nothing about a referral plan, but that would be nice). We will advise her to closely monitor her account when it comes up for renewal. In the meantime, we will shop and most likely change over our service.

I am a long time Customer of Startex and I am so very conflicted because I had this service at two residences. Before the merger they were so superb. I referred friends to this company. Since Oct 2010, I have not been totally happy but tolerant of the services. . It is time to review and renew my services again and. I am leaning to shopping around. My rates end on 060213 and I have spoke to the customer service but. I wasn't happy with the response. Two years ago I was over charged with the smart meter installed on the new home I bought. HOHUM HOHUM, It was only me in the home at the time. I don't think I would recommend I only had one lost check, My mother was mad about it. Still conflicted.

Have not had major issues, prices were ok but made mistake of accepting 3 year plan. Bad timing on my part I guess since rate at time I initiated plan was 13.6/kwh. Nothing I could with a $300+ cancellation fee once rates dropped significantly. Not worth cancelling and changing. Will look at other companies to try to improve rate for a while and make up some of what I have lost with this higher rate I got stuck with. Not afraid to switch and may even consider staying if rate is reasonalbe on month to month but it doesn't look like they are beating others or even close even on 3 or 6 month plans Startex appears too high compared to others. Customer service ok and have not had problems on a few occasions when late over the last 2 years.

Pricing seems less competitive after Constellation acquired StarTex. After several years with StarTex we have switched to another provider for a lower rate on this renewal. StarTex changing the minimum usage fee from $4.99 for less than 500 kwh to $9.99 for less than 1000 kwh was yet another reason to switch. During the months between A/C and heat we use less than 1000 and more than 500 kwh and it's an insult to be gouged. The folks from Maryland can go back from whence they came. And shame on the Texans (if there actually were any to begin with) for selling out! I guess the founders made their money and ran.

I was moved to Constellation Energy some years ago, I initially signed up with NewTex Power and I guess Constellation bought them out. I have always been happy with this provider, even as a month-to-month customer, and even when we had the winter freeze here in Texas earlier this year. I was on a contract when I initially signed up, but once my contract ended I went month-to-month. For YEARS I have had no problems. The last 2 months I received a bill for over $600 and this month almost $800!! I called 2 days ago to get a fixed rate and the system was down. The agent and I discussed the rates and plans and I was ready to make it happen, BUT Constellation's service was down, so the agent said he would call back, he also gave me his info & ext. to call back if I didn't hear from him. Today I made the call again, but got Luis...he told me the previous rep was busy but he could help me. By the end of the conversation, he was literally mocking me, not letting me get a word in, and talking to me like I was a child. I asked to speak to the rep I was originally working with and he told me he would pass the word along, only before letting me know "he's going to tell you the same thing I just did, and that's why you should accept what is given to you at the moment it is offered!" and hung up on me! After 14 years of being with this energy company, it took one unprofessional act for me to walk away. It is not even worth my time to try to call and speak to someone else. I just changed energy companies. As an Army Veteran who has heard, put up with, and been through A LOT, I can honestly say Luis is the worst customer service rep I've ever spoke to in my life. Sadly, because of this instance I will never go back to Constellation.

Let me preface this by mentioning my experience in 2020 when renewing my service. The customer service agent was excellent, walking me through prices and selecting a plan that best fit my needs based on my usage going back to 2018. When I contacted customer service to renew my contract in 2021 I requested a rate that works for me based on my usage, and was quoted 10.2 cents based on 1000 kwh. My usage usually hovers between 400 - 700 kwh, and I should have checked with him what the 500 kwh rate was... but going on my previous experience I trusted that it shouldn't be significantly higher than 10.2 cents.It was 14.2 cents... a far cry from my previous rate of 11.3 cents. Did the customer service agent lie? No. Did he clarify with me that his 10.2 c/kwh rate is nowhere close to the actual rate that I'd be paying according to my historical usage? No. I felt it was a deceitful tactic to say the least.Moral of the story, don't make my mistake. Double check the EFL *before* you agree to renew.

We had constellation for two years. Paid on time, never had to actually talk to anyone and Oncor did all the work if there was a power outage. So we switched providers for a better deal. My wife accidentally forgot to pay the bill the 2nd to last month. I got no phone calls, no emails, zero notification until a pink slip showed up saying we had 10 days to pay or they're cutting off service - WOW. So I immediately paid the past due amount only to have a notification from their collections department show up two days later. Dude - I have a perfect payment history, its a flipping pandemic, you made zero attempt to contact me - this was such a sleazy move. I am so, so, so thankful we made the choice to leave. So they'll be great, just don't make any mistakes or you'll be dealing with their nonsense. Seriously - one missed payment with a perfect two year history. If I were constellation I would have called just to check on me to be sure everything was okay since it is so out of character. I cannot stress enough that I would not recommend constellation to anyone.

I was told the AEP delivery charges were included in my 0.9 cents plan. That's literally the only reason I agreed. I will be calling and speak to a supervisor to listen to the original sales call to dispute my contract. It's not right to lie to a customer to make a sale and lock them into a 3 year contract. This is dishonest and I won't stand for it.

I transferred to constellation 2 week before service. I got an email saying I was confirmed and ready other service cut the electricity off but nothing was turned for over 8 hrs later. They lost my application..i had to go thru the entire process again. Just got my bill and without the bill credit it would be the highest in the last 5 yrs. Understand I put in a new unit 2 years ago. Not sure i will wait 11 months. I may pay the early penalty.

My mother paid her bill electronically through her bank's bill pay. Constellation lost the payment. She sent them a computer printout. They said it had to come from the bank, not a computer printout. She went to the bank, they gave her proof and we sent this in. She received an email stating that this was not acceptable. She is elderly, disabled and caring for a dying spouse. They have put her through hell because they screwed up. It's not her job to continue to help them find something she has proven twice she paid. She's never paid a bill late in her life. Customer services just keeps apologizing, meanwhile a 78 year old lady is in tears over this and it's still not resolved.

I am very dissatisfied with my Constellation experience. Constellation switched my energy provider without my consent or prior knowledge after I filled out some paperwork that one of your representatives told me would just send a price quote to me. I am very involved in tracking my bills, budgeting, emails, etc., and so I caught it quickly. But the idea that this may be happening to other people who arent as focused on keeping track of these things is deplorable. I appreciate that the switching back process was simple, but I was astonished at how regular my situation seemed to those I contacted. No one I spoke to seemed to think that this was a big issue like I did. Will not be recommending Constellation to anyone.

We used Constellation for our last choice of electric providers and decided to renew for THREE years unfortunately this year. The price increase has been alarming and reaching customer service has been a time consuming nightmare. You CAN NOT reach CHAT on their website and must WAIT to speak with a rep. So far I've held for 16 minutes hearing what Constellation uses to SELL it's services. However fulfilling those services are quite questionable. We would like a A/C service call right now - it's included the high cost of their service - but it would appear scheduling that "benefit" is not easy. I'm hearing due to the HIGH VOLUME of calls blah, blah. I have tried to go online as suggested - but all you can do there is update your account and RENEW...NOT a happy customer.........it's now been 29 minutes and the loop goes on and on. OH, got a rep. guess what??? To get A/C service you must call their HOME CARE number - NO WHERE IS THIS LISTED on the website or on monthly invoice. So now I am in que AGAIN!

If they bill you wrong they still want you to pay what they billed you. Even though they messed up. They will gladly fix it for you. But it will show as a credit 1 to 2 billing cycles later. What kind of company charges their customers for the company's mistake? It would take a lot for me to refer someone to Constellation Energy now. After this experience. Also. Don't call on the phone. I spent almost 1.5 hours trying to get through on the phone. Chat online I waited 5 and you get a transcript of the chat. They do have some of the lowest rates available though.

Over 12 months I have gotten 4 disconnect notices. My credit score is over 800, and I pay my bills. Sometimes I miss the e-invoice, and a reminder would be sufficient. Instead, pink notices in mail. Actually cut off my power on Jul 2 after I paid bill on Jun 15. Even the service rep couldn't believe it and restored immediately. Too happy to disconnect for my tastes. I'm not a crook, and moved on.

I requested the switch of 3 accounts. The first account was switched within 7 days and welcome materials rec'd so very satisfied with this switch. On 7/30/18 we began service with Constellation. After many calls in Aug & Sept asking for our bills, we finally received our 1st bill. I paid it through my bank on BillPay. A week later I received a new bill, it showed my previous balance as unpaid, so I called and the rep said my ACH/Electronic BillPay payment was NOT received. So I contacted my bank obtained all of the proof the rep said I needed and I submitted all of it to Constellation. 3 day later I was notified by email that the proof they requested and received was not sufficient and they would NOT be able to credit my account. I called and the rep said they don't deal with those type of calls and the best he can advise is for me to email customer service. I emailed once every day for 4 days. Finally I received a response. It was the exact same response as the initial one (submit all forms again). Back to square one I resubmitted everything they asked for and their response was a 2nd notice of disconnect. It's been a horrible experience and now I have to deal with my bank, dispute the charge and pay the bill again to avoid disconnection. Meanwhile a 3rd bill has showed up! their billing seems to be very delayed I received 3 months of bills in 3 weeks. Will most likely pay to get out of the 1 year contract and go elsewhere. Horrible customer service to say the least. I have NEVER experienced anything like it.

With my previous provider, I always paid on time with the exception of 3 times in 5 years when I made arrangements to pay at the end of the month due to unexpected bills. In Oct I I had car repair bills plus medical bills. I went to the constellation website and filled out a form requesting that I pay my bill 2 weeks later. I received a email back from constellation that it would be okay to do that. Being 73 and on Social Security I was very grateful that I could do that. In the past week before the extended due date I have received 2 phone calls from Constellation and a DISCONNECT NOTICE! I called the customer support number and asked them why they were harrassing me. They said that was their policy regardless if arrangements were made. I doubt that I will renew my contract with Constellation.

My service and rate(s) over the last 8 years have been great with StarTex. I used to refer friends\relatives and swear by StarTex. Since they merged with Constellation, I have lost my online login account info (Pay My Bill, etc) and for 6-months, I have gotten the run-around. I can login but no account info, so I have to call in to make a payment. I was promised a $25 credit for my troubles but prefer it to work. Never seen the $25 credit, either. Now I get my renewal rate and plans and they are double-digits (14.5 kWh for 12-mths), 12.9 for 24 or 36 mths). I see other attractive plans and shopping around.

Would not use again. Price to leave is $78 even when your contact is over. Got a great electricity rate so I chose this company over bigger names but when it was time to renew the offer they made was no longer competitive so I switched. Turns out an "Oncor Electric Company Surcharges Approved" showed up on my last invoice, even though I was out of contract. The price to switch electric companies varies and in my opinion, anything over $20 is way too much, especially for something automated. Exact actual price to end service is not disclosed in terms of service, only a mention that a fee may be changed.Also had some billing problems - signed up for auto-pay but didn't charge my card for some reason one month (even though they had the 4 months prior) then called to say my bill was overdue, and I had to go online and pay again. Later appologized via automated email.

StarTex gives you 15 days to pay your bill and then delays crediting your payment for about 6 days in my experience. If you miss your 7 days to get the bill and get payment mailed to them, you get socked with a late charge. For the first time in 40 years, we were "late" on a payment even though we paid them within 2 weeks of receiving the bill. Beware this company.

They however intend for me to honour my end and will charge me for leaving early. Don't bother signing up for a "secure" rate, it isn't.

Startex is a company that will be sufficient when everything is running fine. However, I had a payment sent a few days late (no late payments for previous 10 months), and they cancelled my power WITHOUT any notification. The power was shut off when my wife was home with our newborn baby. They threatened to keep the power off until I transferred payment to them, but then customer service completely fell apart when I broke off my contract. They keep calling for their final payment despite breaking the contractual obligations of warning us about service termination. Since that time they have added $300 more in fees. Be careful, this company is nice when you are paying on time, but miss one payment, and they will bring the house down on you!

I've called several times asking to speak to a supervisor regarding my account, to no avail. I just want to speak with somebody with a brain in their head that cares about not losing a customer. In such a competitive environment, it seems they don't care at all about losing a customer, in spite of my willingness to pay the $350 cancellation fee. Get it through your skulls: I'm going elsewhere unless you work with me. Business 101. Clearly the CS reps don't care about their company or the future (or lack thereof) of their jobs.

Would like to add, much like many services today, it's easy as pie to sign up, but once they've got you, good luck dealing with their CS. Nowhere on their website makes it easy to change payment options, renew or otherwise.

I was originally attracted to this company by their low rates and I have had service with them for over 2 years. That is until today, due to the Christmas holidays I was unable to make my payment due on the 2nd of Jan. So I figured I would make it with my next paycheck on the 15th. However, by the time I paid my power had been cut off and now I'm facing massive connect and disconnect fees. When I spoke to a customer service manager "NORA" she told me those were their policies and quite frankly I got the feeling she could care less about my disconnected service. In an effort to get some kind of reaction from her I even went as far as to tell her that it may be time to change electric companies to which she replied "I'm sorry you feel that way." Now I can go up to 2 days without power. Not sure if they know, but its "WINTER" AND I HAVE 3 CHILDREN!! LESSON LEARNED: With this company you are nothing more than an account number. They are quick to disconnect and leave you dark!

Having been very happy with StarTex Power for the last 7 or so years, my annual contract is now up for renewal. Unfortunately their rates have soared and are no longer competitive. For a 12 month fixed contract they are offering 9.6c per kwh when competitors are offering 8.4c per kwh. Sorry StarTex. I've called a couple of times but was told this was your best offer. I've had StarTexPower for a while now. Their promotional or beginning rates are good but since I moved to the new place, the price has gone up significanly (avg 13.69 cents, which is much higher than the initial price). Although I did not select the fixed option, increase from 5.2 cents to 13.69 cents is just too much. The first impression I got from this company was that they would care about such significant increase or maybe advise their customers of the high increase in price... but that's not the case.

Also, in this day and age, their bill payment system seems to be very outdated. Launches into a separate window, no email confirmation, etc.

Time to start looking for another provider...unfortunately.

I was charged almost an additional 11 days of service, without my knowledge, for power I never used. In fact it was power the next tenant was using on a higher premium rate! The information I received from the company when setting up my power was false, leading to overcharging and a complete lack of carrying from the customer service personnel. The customer service representative argued that I had never even called in, essentially calling me a liar. I am extremely displeased with the service I received from StarTex.

I've been a StarTex supporter since 2008. They were awesome - had the lowest rate, and offered great customer service.However, they were purchased by another company and things have gone downhill with their billing. I was double billed once (which was actually Oncor's fault) but it took months to straighten out because of StarTex's inability to generate a bill in a timely manner. Even though I had no bill to even pay, I got collection notices and daily phone calls about not paying the erroneous bill. Most recently, I moved, and even though I was assured my rate would stay the same since I stayed in the same service area, my rate went up 1.45 cents per kWh. I called and they generated a new bill, except kept the same rate. I called again, and they generated a new bill, but this time, they only gave me a credit for less than half of my usage. I had received a new meter, and they only credited what was on the new meter. My contract is up in less than a month and will be finding a new provider. It's a shame they were bought out and the customer service has gone down hill so much. As they say "StarTex, where customer service is always free" - what they don't say is that it's not always right.

I signed on with this company saying they were the best rate in my area at the time what a crock my first bill was decent only $99 then it jumped to $170 then 249 then 327 saying I was using 1492 KW in 1900 KW I finally paid the cancellation fee and switch companies amazingly the highest my bill has been in the last 2 months is $143 I haven't used more than $1,073 KW and I'm doing nothing different this company is a rip off their surcharges at another $90 on to your bill regardless of what they say run as far as you can when I tried to call customer service they tried to tell me everybody was that way so not true I am now with pulse power and can't be happier I waste it 5 months praying too much for energy with this company and then a cancellation fee that I should not have been charged being is there so corrupt

I'VE experience two bills that is way to high. i don't run anything in my apartment. I manage my bills and i do not run central air\heat to prevent a high bill. i use a lil electric heater in my room and sometime ceiling fan when i get hot but it shouldn't have ran my bill up to be extremely this high. at my other apartment my bill stayed under $100 because i manage it. my last month bill was also high $169 ,and they told me because i didn't use 1000kw which i sign up for so they charged me 27 per kw instead which is not my contract or what i signed up for.my feb./march bill just came out and its $236. i will recommend no one to this light company ITS A RIP OFF.

I used to use Reliant and Gexa Energy. They all have higher price than Constellation. But when the bills come to us, Constellation always have way higher bills(1/3 more). Average cost was $300 by Constellation. But for Reliant it was 100+ And Gexa was 200. It is sad that those companies sent out representative but their fees are never as advertised.

I have had a very bad experience with Constellation Electric company. This company has all incompetent professionals who do not know how to deal with customers. I was fighting for over 3 months for my bills and they could not give me a valid reason why. I have a Solar panel and I mentioned that to their consultant beginning of the contract. After 4 months later I found out that they do not even support solar. I ended up paying my all hiked-up bills. Their customer service never calls me back. Even though they have everything recorded in the system but they have no respect for their customers to at least return their calls in a timely manner.

I cancelled this service in April 2022 to go Solar. Part of the Solar program was to receive a $1000 energy credit. For some reason the payment was sent to Constellation Energy by mistake. I verified that my account was closed and no money was due and in fact they showed the $1000 credit. As of today 10-3-2022 I spoke to Joseph ID# C991358. It took me 5 different calls to reach a supervisor by the way. Joseph said that the payment will take an additional 4-6 weeks before I would receive these funds. He confirmed that my account closed April 16, 2022 and they received the $1000 on August 4, 2022 by mistake. I am writting this review to complain about this company keeping my $1000 for well over 2 months time and jerking me around each and every time I call to see where this money is. This is the worst energy provider and worse in customer service that I have ever dealt with. I want this review to hurt this company to the tune of keeping my refund for over 2 months of my time and effort calling in to inquire. Do not use Constellation Energy for anything. they are the absolute worst energy provider out there. I would rather use Martha's underwater basket weaving energy before I would ever use this terrible energy company.

I was fine with Constellation until the day I received an email stating my service had been sold to a provider that, when I looked them up, had horrible customer ratings. I paid all my bills BEFORE they were due, never bothered them for anything and yet one day I was dumped, period, end of story. As of such and such a day, my service would be provided with another company. I called them up. I had most of a year left on my contract and said I'd rather cancel and pick another company I wanted. Nope, can't do that - we have your contract and we can assign it to another company and there is nothing you can do about it. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! Not unless you want to find yourself with another company that has a D rating with the BBB without recourse.

Don't get me wrong, they were great for a few years but their latest antics put me over the edge. They doubled my KWH rate which drove my bill up over $1000 per month. When calling them, I sat on hold for an hour and a half only to have them pick up, not say a word and hang up. I am beyond livid. This is a horrible way to do business. Does not allow you to track you usage. You will get an energy bill every month that shows twice what you actually used. They claim to use Smart Meter Texas and all you have to do is make an account and you can track you usage. Unfortunately, Smart Meter Texas will not accept Constellation's PUCT Certificate number, the ESIID, or any one of the twelve different company names they use for the same address in Houston. I am happy to report this deplorable company to ERCOT.

I confirmed my contract start date in early July to match up with the end of my previous contract. I received multiple notices confirming the contract. After a month without a bill, I called, was told there was a database error and that it was fixed. A month later nothing had changed. I called in to be told my account was not active despite never being given notice of a delay or cancellation in my order. The service had defaulted to that of the apartment complex with disconnection fees because Constellation failed to provide service as agreed. I never received an explanation as to how this happen and once I was actually told they weren't providing service, I closed out the account to seek other service.

The price, if they actually provided service, was decent.

Find another company. I can not record this enough.

Lets start at the plan. I called them to confirm and asked questions, I was told they charge buy the KWH, whatever I use, I get charged for, they confirmed the rate, so signed up as my previous contract was ending and they offered nothing at market rates. Set up to start, on the last day of my previous plan and the day my meter sends in its readings.

First bill come n a few days later for 150 bucks. I call them, they try to tell me my plan has a min charge of 159, Nope, then that I am prepaying for future usage, nope, so after 4 people finally get someone with average intelligence who can see it is wrong at my bill is correct.

After he first full month I get another bill. Again, charging incorrectly, charging me for almost twice my usage. Again I call, again chuck and jive. After multiple people finally get Simeon who can see something is off, but can not fix it. Get another and he stats telling me I clearly am stupid and can not understand math (side not, I hold a BS in mathameyics and a BS and MS in engineering, AND a MBA in finance, so clearly I have an ok understanding of math. After I get a claimed supervisor I get it partly corrected, atleast it is within 20 bucks of what it should be, bit I am done, 50 bucks to cxl worth every penny.
It 8 days into my moth and I start with another company. I get a bill for 748.24 cents. For 8 days and a 50 dollar fee.

Again, speak to several people, finally get s energy who comes up with 128 bucks, more than my average monthly bill the last 2 years.

I ask of an accounting, and a corrected bill.

I never got it, called again.

Now. Get a late notice. Call again, they refuse to send an invoice or tell me where they get the Balance due.

Still waiting.

Got another letter, but still no accounting. I pod it just t be done with this.

I highly recommend you find another company.

Called July 19 about 3PM with the intention of leaving GEXA. Plans and most reviews were pretty good. I asked the agent three very simple questions. Took 20 minutes to extract those answers. The questions were these. What is the price per kwh at 1000, 2000, and 3000. Was told the numbers would vary from the quoted rates. So I asked the questions another way. What is the highest kwh rate I would pay between 1000 and 2000, 2000 and 3000, and 3000 and 4000? Finally got answers after just flat insisting on them. Final question was: Will you send me those quotes in writing. Agent stated they would only send the 1000 kwh quote. Spoke to supervisor Daniel Garza. Again, went around the world to finally get the quotes I needed. However, would not agree to put the maximum kwh price in writing. Really disappointed in the lack of transparency on these calls. Would have signed up in 10 minutes if getting answers were not the equivalent of pulling a wisdom tooth whose roots were wrapped around the jawbone. What a shame. Was prepared to become a Constellation customer. Guess I should have tempered my expectations before I called. Really sad.

Service not turned on as requested and agreed when I signed up for service so power was shut off when contractors trying to work. Customer service phone number required 20 minutes before I reached someone. Customer service claimed it was Oncor's fault. Oncor confirmed Constellation never submitted request. After 2 more hours, learned Constellation is a manual process and they didn't submit request. My contractors and I lost 4 hours of our day troubleshooting ourselves and waiting for power.

I was not happy with my electric company, because my bills were running around $300+ a month. I spent $4,000 getting my A/C unit updated, which was supposed to save me on my electric bill. A salesman came to the door pushing Constellation and showed me numbers that guaranteed that they could cut my bill by at least $100/month. It was mumbo jumbo about how they figured the bill differently in the way that Texas New Mexico Power got its cut. I thought I would give them a try. Worst decision I ever made. The first bill was cheaper than my old plan. After that, it went up and up. My bill now for JANUARY is $387. That is the highest bill ever for my one-story, 3 bedroom house. I was going to cancel, and they informed me I had a 2-year contract. That's not correct, as I would never sign up for that long with a company I am trying out. Somehow, they slipped that in without my permission. What a rip-off. I will never use this company again. Don't believe whatever they tell you.

Constellation is the WORST electricity provider!I was a loyal customer of theirs for eleven (11) years!When I transferred their service from one address to another, they locked me out of my existing account, making it impossible for me to pay any bills from my old address.They charged me my ENTIRE electricity bill for four days of service (the overlap period between addresses). Now they have a Collections Agency bugging me to pay their FRAUDULENT charges. This company sent me to collections for a last billing when they never ever sent me an actual bill. I paid it to get rid of them but they had no bill to provide me and last time I was able to look at my account I showed a zero balance. I pay my bills. They sent nothing by mail until almost a year later to tell me I was in collections! No calls... no last bill... no access to my on line account. Won't spend a penny with this company again. Crap way to treat a customer who paid on time and was a good customer for years. I am happy to pay my depts, but my account said zero balance on line last time I had access to it, no paper bill received either. Do better before you send people to collections.

I used to use Reliant and Gexa Energy. They all have higher price than Constellation. But when the bills come to us, Constellation always have way higher bills(1/3 more). Average cost was $300 by Constellation. But for Reliant it was 100+ And Gexa was 200. It is sad that those companies sent out representative but their fees are never as advertised.

I have had a very bad experience with Constellation Electric company. This company has all incompetent professionals who do not know how to deal with customers. I was fighting for over 3 months for my bills and they could not give me a valid reason why. I have a Solar panel and I mentioned that to their consultant beginning of the contract. After 4 months later I found out that they do not even support solar. I ended up paying my all hiked-up bills. Their customer service never calls me back. Even though they have everything recorded in the system but they have no respect for their customers to at least return their calls in a timely manner.

I cancelled this service in April 2022 to go Solar. Part of the Solar program was to receive a $1000 energy credit. For some reason the payment was sent to Constellation Energy by mistake. I verified that my account was closed and no money was due and in fact they showed the $1000 credit. As of today 10-3-2022 I spoke to Joseph ID# C991358. It took me 5 different calls to reach a supervisor by the way. Joseph said that the payment will take an additional 4-6 weeks before I would receive these funds. He confirmed that my account closed April 16, 2022 and they received the $1000 on August 4, 2022 by mistake. I am writting this review to complain about this company keeping my $1000 for well over 2 months time and jerking me around each and every time I call to see where this money is. This is the worst energy provider and worse in customer service that I have ever dealt with. I want this review to hurt this company to the tune of keeping my refund for over 2 months of my time and effort calling in to inquire. Do not use Constellation Energy for anything. they are the absolute worst energy provider out there. I would rather use Martha's underwater basket weaving energy before I would ever use this terrible energy company.

I was fine with Constellation until the day I received an email stating my service had been sold to a provider that, when I looked them up, had horrible customer ratings. I paid all my bills BEFORE they were due, never bothered them for anything and yet one day I was dumped, period, end of story. As of such and such a day, my service would be provided with another company. I called them up. I had most of a year left on my contract and said I'd rather cancel and pick another company I wanted. Nope, can't do that - we have your contract and we can assign it to another company and there is nothing you can do about it. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! Not unless you want to find yourself with another company that has a D rating with the BBB without recourse.

I was moved to Constellation Energy some years ago, I initially signed up with NewTex Power and I guess Constellation bought them out. I have always been happy with this provider, even as a month-to-month customer, and even when we had the winter freeze here in Texas earlier this year. I was on a contract when I initially signed up, but once my contract ended I went month-to-month. For YEARS I have had no problems. The last 2 months I received a bill for over $600 and this month almost $800!! I called 2 days ago to get a fixed rate and the system was down. The agent and I discussed the rates and plans and I was ready to make it happen, BUT Constellation's service was down, so the agent said he would call back, he also gave me his info & ext. to call back if I didn't hear from him. Today I made the call again, but got Luis...he told me the previous rep was busy but he could help me. By the end of the conversation, he was literally mocking me, not letting me get a word in, and talking to me like I was a child. I asked to speak to the rep I was originally working with and he told me he would pass the word along, only before letting me know "he's going to tell you the same thing I just did, and that's why you should accept what is given to you at the moment it is offered!" and hung up on me! After 14 years of being with this energy company, it took one unprofessional act for me to walk away. It is not even worth my time to try to call and speak to someone else. I just changed energy companies. As an Army Veteran who has heard, put up with, and been through A LOT, I can honestly say Luis is the worst customer service rep I've ever spoke to in my life. Sadly, because of this instance I will never go back to Constellation.

Does not allow you to track you usage. You will get an energy bill every month that shows twice what you actually used. They claim to use Smart Meter Texas and all you have to do is make an account and you can track you usage. Unfortunately, Smart Meter Texas will not accept Constellation's PUCT Certificate number, the ESIID, or any one of the twelve different company names they use for the same address in Houston. I am happy to report this deplorable company to ERCOT.

When you call Customer Service, they will verify that they have the right phone number for you three times, but no one will take 1 minute to actually use it to call you, even if you owe them money. It just happens. No letter, no email, no phone call. Nothing. It's easier for them to just let your service get disconnected. Then, of course, you'll contact them to pay your bill. It's easier for them that way. They don't have to lift a finger. Very poor treatment.

I confirmed my contract start date in early July to match up with the end of my previous contract. I received multiple notices confirming the contract. After a month without a bill, I called, was told there was a database error and that it was fixed. A month later nothing had changed. I called in to be told my account was not active despite never being given notice of a delay or cancellation in my order. The service had defaulted to that of the apartment complex with disconnection fees because Constellation failed to provide service as agreed. I never received an explanation as to how this happen and once I was actually told they weren't providing service, I closed out the account to seek other service.

The price, if they actually provided service, was decent.

Find another company. I can not record this enough.

Lets start at the plan. I called them to confirm and asked questions, I was told they charge buy the KWH, whatever I use, I get charged for, they confirmed the rate, so signed up as my previous contract was ending and they offered nothing at market rates. Set up to start, on the last day of my previous plan and the day my meter sends in its readings.

First bill come n a few days later for 150 bucks. I call them, they try to tell me my plan has a min charge of 159, Nope, then that I am prepaying for future usage, nope, so after 4 people finally get someone with average intelligence who can see it is wrong at my bill is correct.

After he first full month I get another bill. Again, charging incorrectly, charging me for almost twice my usage. Again I call, again chuck and jive. After multiple people finally get Simeon who can see something is off, but can not fix it. Get another and he stats telling me I clearly am stupid and can not understand math (side not, I hold a BS in mathameyics and a BS and MS in engineering, AND a MBA in finance, so clearly I have an ok understanding of math. After I get a claimed supervisor I get it partly corrected, atleast it is within 20 bucks of what it should be, bit I am done, 50 bucks to cxl worth every penny.
It 8 days into my moth and I start with another company. I get a bill for 748.24 cents. For 8 days and a 50 dollar fee.

Again, speak to several people, finally get s energy who comes up with 128 bucks, more than my average monthly bill the last 2 years.

I ask of an accounting, and a corrected bill.

I never got it, called again.

Now. Get a late notice. Call again, they refuse to send an invoice or tell me where they get the Balance due.

Still waiting.

Got another letter, but still no accounting. I pod it just t be done with this.

Let me preface this by mentioning my experience in 2020 when renewing my service. The customer service agent was excellent, walking me through prices and selecting a plan that best fit my needs based on my usage going back to 2018. When I contacted customer service to renew my contract in 2021 I requested a rate that works for me based on my usage, and was quoted 10.2 cents based on 1000 kwh. My usage usually hovers between 400 - 700 kwh, and I should have checked with him what the 500 kwh rate was... but going on my previous experience I trusted that it shouldn't be significantly higher than 10.2 cents.It was 14.2 cents... a far cry from my previous rate of 11.3 cents. Did the customer service agent lie? No. Did he clarify with me that his 10.2 c/kwh rate is nowhere close to the actual rate that I'd be paying according to my historical usage? No. I felt it was a deceitful tactic to say the least.Moral of the story, don't make my mistake. Double check the EFL *before* you agree to renew.

Called July 19 about 3PM with the intention of leaving GEXA. Plans and most reviews were pretty good. I asked the agent three very simple questions. Took 20 minutes to extract those answers. The questions were these. What is the price per kwh at 1000, 2000, and 3000. Was told the numbers would vary from the quoted rates. So I asked the questions another way. What is the highest kwh rate I would pay between 1000 and 2000, 2000 and 3000, and 3000 and 4000? Finally got answers after just flat insisting on them. Final question was: Will you send me those quotes in writing. Agent stated they would only send the 1000 kwh quote. Spoke to supervisor Daniel Garza. Again, went around the world to finally get the quotes I needed. However, would not agree to put the maximum kwh price in writing. Really disappointed in the lack of transparency on these calls. Would have signed up in 10 minutes if getting answers were not the equivalent of pulling a wisdom tooth whose roots were wrapped around the jawbone. What a shame. Was prepared to become a Constellation customer. Guess I should have tempered my expectations before I called. Really sad.

I was not happy with my electric company, because my bills were running around $300+ a month. I spent $4,000 getting my A/C unit updated, which was supposed to save me on my electric bill. A salesman came to the door pushing Constellation and showed me numbers that guaranteed that they could cut my bill by at least $100/month. It was mumbo jumbo about how they figured the bill differently in the way that Texas New Mexico Power got its cut. I thought I would give them a try. Worst decision I ever made. The first bill was cheaper than my old plan. After that, it went up and up. My bill now for JANUARY is $387. That is the highest bill ever for my one-story, 3 bedroom house. I was going to cancel, and they informed me I had a 2-year contract. That's not correct, as I would never sign up for that long with a company I am trying out. Somehow, they slipped that in without my permission. What a rip-off. I will never use this company again. Don't believe whatever they tell you.

We had constellation for two years. Paid on time, never had to actually talk to anyone and Oncor did all the work if there was a power outage. So we switched providers for a better deal. My wife accidentally forgot to pay the bill the 2nd to last month. I got no phone calls, no emails, zero notification until a pink slip showed up saying we had 10 days to pay or they're cutting off service - WOW. So I immediately paid the past due amount only to have a notification from their collections department show up two days later. Dude - I have a perfect payment history, its a flipping pandemic, you made zero attempt to contact me - this was such a sleazy move. I am so, so, so thankful we made the choice to leave. So they'll be great, just don't make any mistakes or you'll be dealing with their nonsense. Seriously - one missed payment with a perfect two year history. If I were constellation I would have called just to check on me to be sure everything was okay since it is so out of character. I had no issues with billing which is usually the cause to hate them. I had an issue with signing up since I had my credit locked. I wish they would tell online you who they use to check your credit so people can unfreeze or unlock their credit before hand. Like all electric company's they get you in with a good rate then charge a lot more to renew, but all companies do that. All that being said it was a good experience with them and I wish I could stay with them but on to the next with a better rate.

I have enjoyed being with Constellation since I moved back to Houston. Never in my lifetime have I ever had such a lower priced Electric bill since living in Houston. AT one time HL& P-"RELIANT was the monopoly here in Houston. They charged more for my utility bill in my small apt as opposed to my larger home IN NW. I am so glad RELIANT energy now has other competitors.

I was told the AEP delivery charges were included in my 0.9 cents plan. That's literally the only reason I agreed. I will be calling and speak to a supervisor to listen to the original sales call to dispute my contract. It's not right to lie to a customer to make a sale and lock them into a 3 year contract. This is dishonest and I won't stand for it.

Constellation is the WORST electricity provider!I was a loyal customer of theirs for eleven (11) years!When I transferred their service from one address to another, they locked me out of my existing account, making it impossible for me to pay any bills from my old address.They charged me my ENTIRE electricity bill for four days of service (the overlap period between addresses). Now they have a Collections Agency bugging me to pay their FRAUDULENT charges. And folks like you and I are powerless to stop these greedy corporations from acting like highway bandits!They have apparently sold the debt (for pennies on the dollar I'm sure) to the notorious collection agency, McCarthy Burgess & Wolff.These folks are beyond unscrupulous and the fact that Constellation does business with them tells me all I need to know about them.

I transferred to constellation 2 week before service. I got an email saying I was confirmed and ready other service cut the electricity off but nothing was turned for over 8 hrs later. They lost my application..i had to go thru the entire process again. Just got my bill and without the bill credit it would be the highest in the last 5 yrs. Understand I put in a new unit 2 years ago. Not sure i will wait 11 months. I may pay the early penalty.

This company sent me to collections for a last billing when they never ever sent me an actual bill. I paid it to get rid of them but they had no bill to provide me and last time I was able to look at my account I showed a zero balance. I pay my bills. They sent nothing by mail until almost a year later to tell me I was in collections! No calls... no last bill... no access to my on line account. Won't spend a penny with this company again. Crap way to treat a customer who paid on time and was a good customer for years. I am happy to pay my depts, but my account said zero balance on line last time I had access to it, no paper bill received either. Do better before you send people to collections.

Had some billing issues early on, but not exactly providers fault. All in all everything was great, however as always good things don't last. Provider probably won't make my current plan available on renewal as it was more likely promotional to attract business, so will have to look for affordable options elsewhere to keep costs in check

There should be an online method to renew policy... Either I was not patient or the rep talked slowly, either way when I'm at work taking the time out for all the repeated question was a bit weary. When someone satisfied with the services, the option to renew is given.
