This plan is actually really interesting. For starters, it includes the transmission fees in the actual kWh rate, so folks won't be shocked when there's an extra $60 a month in fees they didn't expect because it's not included in the rate. The Energy Charge is pretty low, honestly. This will make your bills super transparent and easy to predict. It does have a monthly recurring charge but it's pretty low compared to some of the more egregious charges we see from some providers. Also, the cancellation fee isn't a flat fee, it's just $20 for every month remaining on the contract. Usually thats reserved for 24 or 36 month plans. |

This plan has some good things going for it, honestly. 4 Change Energy's Smart 24 Thermostat is a two year, or 24 month, electricity plan that comes with a "free" smart thermostat. Of course, like most plans with anything "Free" associated, it means that other aspects of the plan are more expensive than the market to make up for the cost of whatever is "free," in this case, the Honeywell Smart Thermostat. The Energy Charge is high, which means rates are right, but this plan also has a $50 bill credit that kicks in after a customer uses 1,000 kWh of usage in a month. That actually means for small or medium home users this ends up being a pretty good deal with the thermostat. Like many of 4Change's plans, this one also has a high base monthly charge at $9.95, and the cancellation fee is $20 per month left on the contract. |

4Change's Maxx Saver Select 24 plan is one of many bill credit plans that have limited utility. The $100 bill credit kicks in at a usage level of 1k, so for anyone using less than that each month, like an apartment dweller, the plan rate is horribly high. If they use over a 1k, the bill credit kicks in and the rate becomes pretty competitive. But if you use much more over 1k, the the very high energy charge of the plan takes over and that bill credit becomes less and less effective. |

4Change's Power Max Saver 24 plan is one of many bill credit plans that have limited utility. The $100 bill credit kicks in at a usage level of 2k, so for anyone using less than that each month, like an apartment dweller or someone in a medium size house with no pool, the plan rate is high. If they have a big house and consistently use loads of power, the rate becomes competitive. But anything less than the biggest energy consumers will probably think this plan is too expensive. |

Best Electric Provider I've Used!
4Change Energy is an amazing electric provider that I have been using for years! Their customer service is beyond any that I have experienced before, their rates are affordable, they care about their eco-footprint, and they even give you an option to donate to a charity of your choice. When the winter storms of Texas 2021 were happening and everyone was losing power, 4Change Energy sent out a warning email and was emailing it's providers with updates and apologies every step of the way. When the war between Russia and Ukraine first began and we all were unsure of how it was or was not going to effect us over here in the US, 4Change Energy sent out another email to keep us all informed on the company's plan and what the war meant for electric providers. I recently had to change providers because of a move that requires me to use a specific electric provider however, that has not stopped 4Change Energy in helping me with every step of the process. I have only been met with kindness, compassion, and understanding. I'm immensely disappointed that I had to leave their service and will return in a heartbeat if given the chance. If this seems a bit silly of a reaction for an electric company, I urge you to give them a try. I will ALWAYS recommend 4Change Energy to any and all that ask.
Easy, Simple, Cost Effective
Super affordable rates that fit well with our home and budget. Average usage fits perfectly with the $100 bill credit for using over 1,000 kWh which makes the electricity bill very surprising each month. I always end up paying less than I imagine.

Charitable support given monthly and at the customer's choice means the world to me. Next in line are the Green Plans, great price and how prioritized and valued I feel as a customer. They are so easy to contact and do business with, I have never spent hours on hold or felt like I didn't truly matter. In 2021, 4Change sent out an email reassuring customers that it would never take advantage and surge prices in the face of a deadly winter storm that hit Texas. That email has always stuck in my mind, it spoke volumes about what kind of business 4Change is and I am proud to use them daily!

Prices are very consistent. Earlier in the year there were spikes and it turned out to be my thermostat. Once we changed, prices have saturated low, in the same range, and its a relief not having to try to manipulate my energy intake to keep the price low. Also! Really happy with the renewal experience and that they give you a period to renew with the same low price as the first year. Recommend!

I am going on my 3rd year with 4Change Energy. I have been extremely pleased with their service. Absolutely honest and fair company. Beyond that, my contracts are 12 months and they always surprise me at renewal time and offer my exactly what they would their new customers. I use about 1000 kw (give or take a few) and my bill in the winter is about 80-90 dollars and about 90-110 in the Summer for a 2000 square foot home. They are absolutely an amazing company. I definitely would refer friends and family to use them as an electric provider.

4Change Energy Blessed even after the Freeze!
Having used over 2000 kw of electricity during the freeze of February 2021, I expected the worst for a bill. Yet the bill I received was LESS than the month before! AND 4Change Energy even extended the amount of time to pay that bill making my day. I've been very happy with their customer service when ever I had a question about a bill. True to their word and a reliable provider, I'd recommend them to every one.

I liked getting the email about my renewal, but when trying to call the number to ask a question it states it is not a working number. I called 855-784-2426. I was a bit frustrated with that. I just selected the accept but noticed that when I pulled 4energy site the rate for the charitable 24 was less than what I was given for a renewal and that was my question.

Easy Saver 12 Plan
Being only 2 of us are staying in an apartment we dont typically go over 1000 Kwh usage. On the hottest days of the year I do see an increase but I typically have never paid over $120 for energy. If I do happen to go over its usually like $95-105. Not that bad, I have autopay and its pretty nice to just forget about having to pay them. When my plan was about to expire they even offered me the same plan for another year. Again, great to not have to think about shopping for a new plan and I can just keep the same information. All in all not a bad company to go through for energy, I havent had any problems with them. I understand its always a gamble with not going over 1000 Kwh of energy but it is of my own error if I do. The only thing I didn't like is initially they did a credit check which now shows on my credit report. But now thats done so I dont have any more problems in my opinon.

4Change has stepped up Customer Service & Communication
When I first started with 4Change Energy I lived at another address and was shopping around. They had one of the more inexpensive plan options, but communication and phone customer service was difficult. Over the past few years, 4Change has stepped up their customer service, their accessibility, revamped their website, made online more functional and user-friendly and made their usage and email reports/updates more easy to read and navigate. I can always get a live person on the phone in much shorter time than when I started and have been able to check in and switch plans to a more affordable plan - while understanding their current options. Each week I review my usage and forecast report to better understand when and how I'm using energy. The most important variables are cost and communication and they've really upgraded both for the better

Luv'n my 4 Change Energy
I was a loyal TXU customer for 15 years. After moving to Corpus Christi I was still loyal to TXU, then it seemed my bills were creeping up and their service tanked. I shopped electric providers and went with 4 Change Energy. I have never looked back! I've not experienced fluctuations or outages, except when Hurricane Harvey visited. I like the weekly energy report emails so I know what I'm using. I am saving, although not a great amount over any other provider mind you, but their customer service is excellent and that makes a world of difference.

Of all the things to be relied on in today's America, change is the only one that can be counted on. Therefore, in the long run it is obvious that my financial situation will also, and so will 4Change Energy, so why worry about energy when in the long run it will all balance out.

Awful Customer Service
I was trying to speak to a person about my bill. The lady was very rude and she would not listen to what I was trying to say. The lady was very defensive and should not be working in customer service. She begin explaining my bill and I could not understand what she was saying. So I tried to interrupt her to see if she would start over. After saying, excuse me multiple times, she just kept on talking. She has an accent, but I could understand some of what she was saying. I was going to ask her if she could start again from the beginning, because I could not follow her because I had no Idea of what she had already said.
Short notice billing
The service has been great and reliable and very easy to use the only thing is it would be nice to receive my bill in my email with more notice then one or two days before its due
My experience
I started off over a year ago. Prices were good but not rate I saw online. Switching was simple and convenient. However, I am on Social security disability and explained at sign up I do NOT get paid until the 3rd day of each month. Customer service rep said No Problem. It would be set to pay on that day. $10.00 late fee if not paid on or before that date. 12/2020 I noted payment due 12/31/2020. Again for Jan/Feb/Mar/ Apr 2021. This was disappointing so I called to be told can waive late fee once per year. Not what I signed up for.

Had a few problems when I first signed up.
Not so bad until you run into a problem!
Weve been with 4change for almost 3 years and never had a problem with 4 change until last month. I was going to pay my payment late so I called the account manager and he told me that I could not pay it late that I jad to pay the full amount. Or my services will be disconnected. Okay, so I borrowed the money and paid it on the date of notice. Four days after I paid it I came home to no electricity. I called and the account manager toldme that it was disconnected because the late fee of 28.00 was not paid.I was paid the 28.00 had my electric turned back on but wanted to speak to a supervisor. To let them know how I was not informed of a late fee when I paid my oringinal amount on the day of final notice or I would have paid it as well. The account manager told me that the Supervisor was unable to speak to me at that time so I asked if one could return a phone call to me and she said yes...a week later I have yet to receive a phone call frome anyone from 4change. I was upset about my electricity being shut off but was more angry about not having 4change return my call. Just a bad situation all the way around. However, before this one incident 4change has been great to have. I will stay with them and hope that in the future they will take their customers complaints a little more serious.

Everything has been good except for really high light bill for the first month
Disappointed!
I'm really disappointed with the way the company behaved during hurricane season. I've been their customer for 4 plus years. During Harvey they wrote to me asking if I needed help. As I am a part time teacher I did not work for three weeks as the schools were closed. 4change were really nice and told me they'll waive off my bill for two months. I was overwhelmed with gratitude. However one month down the road I started getting two months bill and then a disconnection notice. I sent them our correspondence as reminder and they were apologetic asking me to ignore the notices. After 15 days I suddenly got a call while I was out of state telling me theyre disconnecting my services unless I make immediate payment. I was shocked. I had everything on record and sent it to them. However they kept insisting and presented me with two months bill. I was still struggling to get back on m feet and my roommate was not present and I had no choice but to make the payment immediately. Im really sad that they did this to me.

Had some issues at first but all got fixed
I had some issues when I first signed up, it was slightly annoying to fix but got fixed nonetheless. I also had another issue where I missed a payment because the bill came into another account that I didn't know about for the same address and auto pay wasn't enabled. This issue also got fixed with a simple message to customer service. The website could be improved. Other than those issues it's pretty straightforward, you setup your account, enable auto pay and enjoy electricity. Would recommend to a friend, and I already did.
Two year customer
Their billing and account management has been the best I have experienced in Houston over the last 14 years. I have found their rates very competitive.

Absolutely NOT the cheapest
I picked this company following someones suggestion to pick the lowest centage plan, as there are too many plans with too many deals. During the phone call requesting new connection, I was told I would be given a $25 gift card and so would the person that referred me. Despite my friend telling me that the company never seems to follow through on that, I went ahead and got the friends account details only to see neither of us got it (7 months since then). Neither did my friend that I referred to following that. Moreover, their cheapest centage deal still gets me upwards of $150 monthly bill even when I dont use AC below 74F (on most days not even below 76F). Their deal of $100 credit upon usage of $1000KWh or more is almost impossible to achieve, as somehow it goes close to 990 KWh but never quite 1000. Im only waiting to end my service period to get rid of this plan.
TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, NO CONCERN AT ALL FOR CUSTOMER
4Change Energy Customer service is terrible. It takes a long time to get someone on the line, then you can barely understand them, and on top of that there's an echo on the line. I've used 4Change Energy for more than 2 years with no issues. I've always paid on time. In that time I've never used more than 1,000 KWh in a mo. This billing period, however, they say I used 2,091 KWh!! My electricity usage was normal for the month...There's reason at all (from my end) for my bill to show I used more than double the norm. They were NO HELP AT ALL in getting this disparity resolved. The only thing they did was request a new meter read from Centerpoint. They told me it would take between 5 to 7 days, and that they'd contact me with the results. They didn't contact me for 10 days so I finally called them. They told me the meter read request confirmed the usage, and that they had the results several days ago. The 4Change Energy Rep told me there was nothing else they could do, and offered me no solution, even though I was adamant I couldn't have used that many KWh in one month.I called Centerpoint, again, and they offered to do a physical meter test, but that will take 15 days, and the bill is due. I know I didn't use that much electricity in one month. NO WAY. But as a customer no one cares. 4Change Energy is terrible. I requested to speak with a Manager, and the 4Change representative said there are none available, and that I would have to wait for up 24 hours for one to call me (at their convenience). Terribly frustrating. Terrible customer service. I would NOT recommend anyone use 4Change Energy.

4Change Energy Review
After 3 years as a satisfied customer, I can report that while the Company Billing and Account Management has been a disappointment recently although Customer Service has declined only slightly in quality. They were quick to point out the terms of the contract that allowed them to charge $1.20 kw/h for Final Billing, although they did not bother to notify me of renewal or even a competitive rate change for an existing customer which was in complete defiance of the same terms of contract. They have become deceptive this will drive desirable customers away from such a business quickly and their ratings will undoubtedly reduce further. Veterans Energy is another holding of the same company so be wary.
Thumbs down for customer service on move out
I emailed 4change on my moveout date of 06/19/2022 requesting that my service be cancelled, immediately. The next cycle start was 06/20/2022. I received a receipt acknowledgement email that same date however, service was not cancelled and they did not notify me of this until 06/22/2022 at which time they charged me a another whole month's cycle charge. The service would not have been cancelled at that time except that they received an order for service from someone else. I have emailed back and forth with them insisting I pay the full month of charges for after I moved out and notified them to cancel, and when I try to call their office, I get an "office closed" message.
Dissatisfied Customer
I switched electric providers, due to the high bills I was receiving w/ my previous provider, only to receive an even higher bill with this provider. I received a $236 bill for one month of service. I love in a 2 bedroom apt, which is less than 1200 square feet. I really question the legitimacy of charges and billing. When I contacted customer service regarding bill, the customer service rep was unable to provide a valid explanation of the charges. She was rude and discourteous. I left the call even more agitated than I began. I can't wait for the end of my contract, so that I can switch providers. If I continue to receive $230 bills, I am considering paying to exit my contract and services with this company.
Doesn't Reward Customer Loyalty and Harasses at Renewal Time
They wanted to raise my rates and wouldn't sustain the current plan I had for the current year. Once I decided to change service, they harassed me and indicated they were willing to keep my current rate structure. I said no to repeated calls and e-mails and then they automatically decided to renew me although I had already chosen a new vendor. I really question the ethics of a company to do this when I was on record that I did not want to renew

Spent 1/2 a day dealing with customer service to change power from a temp pole to a newly built home. They never got it, had to change provider to make it happen.
They have no idea how to bill correctly
First of all, they have issues with their billing system. They sent out a couple of extra bills mid month and it was scheduled to be withdrawn from my account until I called to have them cancel it.
Their email correspondence is also atrocious. They automatically send you a reply saying our team will get back to you in 24-48 hours but I have yet to have one respond in that time frame if they even respond at all. On top of the slow responses, the email was full of typos. It also seems like they say things like we have resolved the issue but then I am still billed incorrectly and have to call to fix it anyway. It makes me doubt the credibility of this business. Their prices are alright. I couldve went with a different plan to better match my needs at a cheaper price but there was no point in doing that afterwards and getting stuck with a cancellation fee. My service was interrupted like everybody elses during the Texas Freeze and whenever power lines went down but then it was up to AEP to fix it.
Confusing Billing Practices
I'm new to the Texas energy market so 4Change was recommended. The service they provide is good but the billing is always confusing. Everytime you pay the highest amount on the bill, I get the next bill stating I had a previous unpaid balance. Tried dealing with customer service to get an explanation and had an agent who was obviously having a bad day, talk to me like I was stupid. I'm paying for this? Can't wait to change energy providors when this contract is up.
Billing nightmare never paid 300 for my 1800 sf house.
I have lived in this house for 30 years Never have my bill go that high.After talking with someone they said I was on the wrong plan, so after 1000kwh at $86 I get hit another $86 for going over . Went to 1,350 kwhCalled 4 times with no answer , had to E-mailed them.Responding email said I had a unpaid balance. The balance was paid and I had a credit that was comfermed by my last statement.So... there advertised kwh price has a catch....Billing department doesn't credit your account and frequently made mistakes on the bill.EMAIL them for your records.
Billed 13 months in 12 month period
4 change energy read meter 3 days early before termination of contract and then read meter again 3 days later at end of contract, thus generating a new billing cycle. They then billed a 13th month invoice. Service from 2/6/2020 to 2/5/2021 13 total monthly invoices. Dispute listed with Public Utility of Texas
Ripped Off
I do my research diligently (using PowertoChoose.org) based on prior year energy usage for my house. Last May, I signed up for the 4Change Energy MaxxSaver plan based on my kWh consumption. However, I was astounded by my bill as was much higher (~$100) than based on the rates quoted in the Electricity Facts Label (EFL). I complained and was switched to the BudgetSaver12 and again the same thing happened in that my bill is 2X the amount expected based on the cited rates per the corresponding EFL. This is fraudulent misrepresentation of rates in the PowertoChoose.org website.

Slow bill processing is unacceptable
Sent the following email:
Today I discussed and issue with one of your agents regarding receipt of my payment. My Credit Union showed payment was made on the Nov 19 (Sent attachment and listing proving I paid 4 days early).
I told the agent I pay all my utilities from my CU which I find more convenient. All my other utilities accept prompt payment from my Credit Union including my former electric service. You are either behind the times
or are trying to force me into using your system which you seem to emphasize inordinately. I paid a second time via phone to resolve the current lag in your system and find it necessary to go with someone else who is more accomodating.
This is their misconceived reply:
After reviewing your information, we realized that we received your payment for $30.76 on 11/23/2020( my payment by phone), if you processed your payment through online check or E-pay, it might take up 10 business days for us receive your payment, therefore, if you decide to use the same payment method, we recommend you pay it as soon as you get the bill to get your money on time.

Teaser Rate Looks Attractive...then you get the actual bill
You have to stick between 1000-2000 kwh, otherwise you pay a much higher rate. And they have an affinity for fees. The mail's been running slow lately as we all know, but they process payments slowly as well. So, you're hit with late fees, and on top of that a $19 Disconnect Fee Notice. Very disappointed in this company; I'd say their do-gooder, charity public face is a sham when they take advantage of their customers.

Easy sign up but horrible renewal
I had a pleasant experience in the beginning. I received an email leading up to my renewal offering me the same great plan so of course i clicked the acceptance offer link. And several days later i received the same great offer, so i called customer service to find out why i received a duplicate email offer. I was informed that my renewal was in a que but not ready to view. Amonth later I went to pay my bill and discovered that i was no longer under contract. So i immediately phoned 4change. I spoke to several customer service reps telling me i should email my offer and my acceptance email. The only problem was i never truly received an email accepting my renewal. I did receive an email asking me to post a review because i accepted the renewal. So i sent them the original offer and the email where they were requesting a review of my renewal experience. Today i received an email stating that i need to send the offer, the acceptance of the renewal and allow 72 hours to receive my welcome kit. Which again i never received the actual renewal confirmation. I last spoke to Anthony in customer service who seemed really sincere and wanted to help but was unable give me the original offer but offered a higher per KWH rate. I told him no, that i wanted the original offer rates. He came back with a $30 credit, i again did not accept. He promised me he would get to the bottom of this matter and said he would calll within 2 hours. Its now been 3+ hours . I have now decided to put 4Change energyy to rest, this company is on the DO NOT USE list along with 1 orher company in 18 years.

Beware of Renewal
When my renewal came up I just clicked on "renew." Today I checked on their cheapest plan because I have offers from other reputable companies. Today...4-2-19...4Change cheapest plan on their website is $0.69 per kwh. I called customer service and was told this rate was for new customers.....obviously to drag them in so that their rates could be raised to over 12cents like mine. If I had canceled at the end of a year and then reenlisted I would have a cheaper rate...and the customer representative even agreed with me.

ChangeEnergy What A Huge Dissapointment!
I had Frontier Utilities who was charging me $200 per month for a 700SF apartment when it is empty for 2 to 3 weeks out of the month. Paid penalty of over $200 to get out of contract, and signed for 4ChangeEnergy. They are only charging $96.00. My problem, I never received bill, so I called to make payment. Well, that was Mission Impossible; I was on hold for so long, and was not able to make the payment. It is a new account and it seems that company has issues with their platform. This is nuts, that I can't go on line, create my account and pay. Sounds simple. Why can a company not have an efficient way to collect payment in this day, and age?

No Back Office
I requested additional service for putting on another unit of a 4-plex I own and they had changed their policy. I requested a call from their back office to help resolve the issue and be able to send the correct information to them I never got a call. I also was billed for the wrong meter and they refuse to look into it. I am using a different utility company for my electric needs.
The sales pitch is misleading
I selected 4Chnage Energy on the state website after evaluating the various plans. My bill went up significantly due to the tiered structure of the rates.
Billing Department Needs Improvement, customer service hard to reach
I received a disconnection notice after three years of service with this company. I always used the auto pay feature, (EZ Pay) meaning they had my debit card information on file, with authorization from me to deduct the monthly bill automatically. There is nothing wrong with my debit card - the funds are there. They somehow managed to mess that up, did not send me any kind of email reporting a billing problem, and went straight to a disconnection notice. Customer service is not readily available, was unable to reach a human being. I'm still waiting for someone to call me back.....
Overcharging at it's finest
I have been going back and forth with this company because I am being sent disconnection notices every other week. I call customer service, thinking I have resolved the issue, pay well over $180 for fees I am not even understanding, under the impressions I would have certain charges waived from the account (about $56). Looking at my following month's bill, the $56 charge has rolled over to the following bill, with a disconnection notice for the amount the representative told me would be waived. Every time I call, I get a different story on these fees and nothing showing the fees were waived. So here I am, making another HUGE payment for my electricity, frustrated that no one is on the same page as I, yet I am paying because I do not want to be disconnected. I was so excited to switch over to 4Change energy, but this has been a big mistake. Still haven't received a resolution to any of my issues with this light company, it has just been a endless circle every time I call.
Don't try calling for anything
The title says it all. I've tried to contact customer service to discuss a new plan because the current one was ending soon. First I did it by email and that was a dead end. I called and that was even worse. It's almost like nobody wants to take a call for fear that the call may be an issue they don't want to deal with. In the end, they never got back to me so I'm still a 4change energy customer that's paying more than I did last year because I wasn't able to speak with someone about a better rate. Maybe this was intentional?
Mediocre, prices going up.
My renewal experience this year, which should usually be pretty easy, was terrible. Required several phone calls and explanations as to why i was getting emails saying my power would be turned off even though I renewed appropriately. Not to mention the old plan that was the reason for getting on with 4Change has changed and prices have gone up signficantly... Wouldn't recommend.
Stay Away From This Company
I have had this company with two different plans. The first plan was fine. On the second plan, the company did not give me notice that the plan was expiring, yet the company continued to send me e-mails that showed my energy usage and stated quite clearly that I was enrolled in a plan. Since my bill had jumped in amount charged, I called and waited on hold to talk to someone. Waiting to talk to a rep is common when you call. it took two phone calls before I could get a representative who stated my plan had expired. The first rep said there was no change in my billing rate. Obviously, he was wrong. I asked the second rep why I had not been notified. She said sometimes 4 Change Energy provided notification and sometimes 4 Change Energy did not provide notification. My plan expired in the heat of the summer, when 4 Change Energy could maximize any non-plan bills! I have complained and asked for a re-billing as if I was on my last plan because 4 Change Energy was deceptive in saying I was on a plan on my weekly usage e-mails. Life is too short to put up with these folks. Direct 4 Change leadership needs to read the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Consumer Protection Act.

I have loved this company until recently I cannot get somebody on the phone couldn't even get my bill finally got it talk to someone today cuz I still haven't got my bill ask for a supervisor and told me that y'all didn't even have one what's going on
Be careful with fixed monthly price plans
4Change was not bad as far as service goes. However, they will not prorate your final bill when you are on their monthly fixed price plans. Meaning you can essentially be charged for the whole month even if you've only used their service for a few days at the end of your contract.

Be Ready For The Run Around
I was trying to close out my service without having to pay the penalty charge. We are moving overseas, I provided the real estate contract to their customer service as requested and they told me that was not good enough. they said I needed the following "We need either a Move Out Statement from the Apartment complex on letterhead, Bill of Sale or Purchase or a Notice to vacate letter, new Lease or Deployment letter." I would think the real estate contract with the closing date would satisfy this requirement. They would not allow me to talk to a supervisor or manager. Careful what you ask for just to save a few dollars.
Worst customer service
I called to let them know I was going to be late one day and they still want to charge me a bunch of fees. Seriously one day! I'm a divorced single mom so I'm doing what I can but there is do.
Poor Customer Service / Good Pricing
I've had a plan with 4Change since July '15. I chose them when I relocated to TX from CO and had to live in an apartment temporarily as I built a new home. (approx 12 mos) I ordered a 6 month plan initially and renewed with a 12 month, thinking I would be able to transfer the plan to my new home. That is where things went sideways. There was a little over a month overlap between my apartment lease and closing on my new home. I called and started a new plan with 4Change when I closed on my home and the CSR agreed that there would be no penalty for changing the account to a new residence...not the case. They charged me $120 when I had to cancel my apartment service...I went through 3-4 more reps and they went back and forth with me. They also used the fact that I had changed my last name on the second account (I was going through a divorce, thus the name change). They refused to acknowledge that my SSN remained the same...etc..etc...I am now at the end of my contract and I will not be renewing for the principal of this. I believe that loyal customers should not be penalized by situations like this. Too bad for them, I'm moving on.
Great Start Bad Finish
We have had this company for almost a year now. All of our bills are paid with them and we use quite a bit of electricity. Last month we were traveling and forgot about the bill. We were disconnected and paid the bill the same day. Now we have a mysterious new bill that we have been disconnected AGAIN for. I have personally been in the account and screenshot everything. We have paid them $1400 over a couple payments and our bills for the last few months only total $1100. Even the new $181 bill doesn't go over the $1400 we have paid and even IF you include disconnect fees (which were waived and I record all my cell phone calls) it still doesn't go over the $1400 we have paid in total. I just had to pay an additional $181 to have electricity for my girlfriend while I am traveling for work. Our total paid now with 4change is $1581 and our total charged usage is $1164. They also refuse to let me speak to anyone in the united states. I am forced to speak with marginally abrasive, half english spekaing middle easterners who have no real concern for what transpires here. I was even hung up on after I got upset that I was being interrupted every time I started a sentence. I loved this company at first and the price was great and service was excellent but as I get closer to moving they get worse and worse with billing and customer service. I used to recommend this company to everyone and now I will have to take them to small claims court for my overpayment to them. WHAT A DAY!
Deceptive pricing
This company deceptively prices itself as the cheapest per kwh but don't be fooled!! The bill includes a $60 monthly fee. Very disappointing.

I signed up for because the rates were good. Unfortunately this company has issues processing payments in a timely manner (10-14 days) with electronic bank payments. I ended up with pink disconnection notices and would call, only to be told they are just behind in processing. Not worth the hassle!!!!!
Office not properly staffed.
Their office is not staffed properly. They take up to 20 days to process a bank check. Their call center is in Central America. I send checks via bill pay to get there a week ahead of time and get many cut off notices due to not having the staff to process and deposit them in a timely manner. If you sign up they want do automatic payment which I am not going to do.
Good price - as long as you do not have to call customer service
With this company you can get some good rates on special if you're lucky through the power to choose website. You will be happy as long as your bill is correct. If you stay with them, they'll rip you off on the renewal plan but so does everyone else. If you try and move and disconnect, that is where you will run into issues. Their customer service has lied to me on multiple occasions, are rude, the hours are very inconvenient. I also tried emailing, don't even bother, they won't read your email they just automatically respond (3 1/2 days later mind you) that there is not enough information in your email even though everything is right there. If you're just looking for a deal and plan on switching afterward, go for it. If you are doing it for the "charity" don't bother, just give a few dollars to the charity you want and save your time on the phone being lied to by their customer service.

Good Pricing, Horrible Billing Practices - Likely Fraudulent
4 Change Energy has a habit of applying funds to my account on an extremely tardy basis. In two instances 22 and 25 days after the check was sent from my bank via online bill pay service (with the correct account name and account number). Not only does 4Change charge late fees when this happens--they also charge a $19.95 fee for sending a disconnect notice. In addition, they have not removed these fees when I have called to complain and make a SECOND payment via phone, prior to the first being applied. Then...very shortly thereafter they magically seem to find my payment and credit it to my account. Now on my latest bill, not only are there charges for one of these late payment application scams, they are not calculating the account balance properly. WILL NOT RENEW; DO NOT RECOMMEND!

2016 Problem Year for 4Change
In January, 2016, 4Change undertook a huge system upgrade, fouling cust service for several days. Also caused us to be issued a new account number.
When time for annual contract renewal came in April 2016, they emailed a new contract proposal. It was a good deal, with a reduction in rates. I clicked "Yes, I Accept" on April 1, 2016. On May 6, 2016, they repeated the email again as if I had not accepted the previous. It was for a new contract with a 25% rate increase. This came after quitting time on a Friday night, so all of us can stew in it all weekend. Then hit the phone on Monday morning.
Watch these guys. They're generally OK, but you have to watch them.
System Upgrade Is No Excuse For Poor Management
I really have had no complaint with 4Change Energy since joining them 3 years ago. However, in December 2015, they sent a flowery email to their customer base, informing us of a fantastic system upgrade that they were about to execute. We would receive a new account number, but nothing else would change. I look at such disclosures as an alert that something is about to take place, and that I should be on guard for a customer scam. I was an EZ-Pay customer (auto withdrawal from my checking account monthly), and they had always done this properly since I originally joined. The fantastic system upgrade took place, and we received another flowery email saying so. However, I noticed that they didn't take the auto-withdrawal in early Feb 2016 as usual, so I called them. The guy said that all was OK and my account would be drawn on 02/08/2016. That didn't happen, so I called that afternoon. The lady said that the system upgrade had left them unable to do auto-withdrawals. I asked why they didn't send an email regarding that. She said that she could take my account info over the phone. I said no, I would login to my account and make a payment, which I did and she confirmed seeing it. I asked what would have happened if I had not called today, and she said in two days I would be disconncted and be charged fees for non-payment. Two days later, after having made the payment, I received a disconnect notice anyway. What the heck is going on here? Customer scam. All the folks who weren't being careful got hit. STAY AWAY from this company. This is my experience, and may not be same as your own.

Called to cancel service for my inlaws, seeing that they were moving into my house but they made it impossible. The customer service agents are based overseas and don't speak very good English, they couldn't understand what a store stroke was or washr a"power of attorney " was for. I was moved to a supervisor who said they would look into it and call back. They eventually emailed and told me to call back and i could now speak to a live rep and try to cancel the service now. Tried to call back but it's still a nightmare.

Worst Experience of My Life
This company is the textbook definition of scam. I wish I could give negative stars on every part. My only regret is falling victim to their disgusting excuse of what they call customer service. They will rob you blind and then good luck getting a hold of anyone who can and is willing to help you come to any sort of reasonable resolution. I'm still dizzy from all the running around in circles I have done trying to get my money back and get rid of this appalling energy provider. Take my warning and do yourself a favor and stay away from this repulsive company.

I had a Bill w/4ChangeEnergy for $302 b/c I am being charged $180 for switching to a much cheaper provider. I informed them I am a 66 yr old unemployed senior citizen and I don't have $180 just laying around for this BS charge, so I requested to be put on a payment plan to pay, over a 3 month period, paying a $100 a month. The very 1st day they withdrew the entire $302, causing my other checks to bounce and have me charged additional fees by my bank. When I called to confront them to ask "what happened to my payment arrangement"? I was told, "sorry there's nothing they can do"!From a former customer, listen to a seasoned veteran of this provider. DO NOT, get 4 Change Energy. They were the 2nd most expensive of the 76 providers I had to chose from.When I looked at other providers (I never choose them in the 1st place) the apartment people did.DO NOT GET 4 CHANGE ENERGY!If my finger wouldn't hurt so bad, I would type it a 100xHave a WONDERFUL day!(The only thing that won't make it WONDERFUL, is getting 4CHANGEENERGY.
Misleading Rates, Expensive to Switch, but Worth It
I moved in May 2022 and signed up for the 4Change Maxx Saver Select 12 Program expecting to pay the advertised price of 12 to 14 cents/kWh. The actual bills I paid for June-Aug, however, ranged from about 16 to 24 cents/kWh. The 24 cents/kWh occurred in June when we used less than 1000 kWh. In July, my usage increased to about 1300 kWh, and my bill actually decreased! In August, my bill was $238 at 1400 kWh. Even though I expect to pay a $180 penalty to switch because of the time left on my 12-month contract, I figure my savings will cover that cost in 6 months or less. Very disappointing to be penalized first for conserving energy, and again because I was misled by their claim of low rates.

After speaking with 4 different representatives and the retention department all I resolved was that they they do not care about their customers. I renewed and magically ended up on another plan to were I was paid $1,000 for one month. All I asked for was to be put on the plan I had been on and be given a credit for the KHW price difference. Convenient for them to overcharge their customers!!!! Poor customer service, disconnected several times and no call back. Took almost 7 days of this to only find out they are okay with overcharging me and not crediting me for two months. Clearly they do not care about their customers, I wish I had read more reviews before signing up with this company.
No Change is Better than 4 Change
4Change Energy cares only for 4 Change EnergyIn my one year of dealing with them they deliberately mishandled prompt bill payment as an excuse to arbitrarily raise our contract rate. Bill payment through my Credit Union occurred on time. However, one week after the bill was due 4 Change told me they would be cutting off my electricity for lack of payment. A week after that they found the prompt payment from my Credit Union AFTER I had paid the bill directly. They did that twice.When my contract was coming due they sent an E-mail warning me it would expire with an auto renew button. What they failed to say was the new 2-year contract was at a rate of .17 cents per kilowatt hour when the current rate was .13 cents per kilowatt hour. Further when you go online to choose other providers they are offering .11 cents per kilowatt hour.They are dishonest thieves
EXPENSIVE
This company is ridiculously expensive. My second bill was around $360. I complained, and my third bill was over $700. Their customer service is terrible! I got the runaround on all interactions. I hate this company. I do not recommend them at all.
Billing
If you have a billing issue forget it. These people are dumber than a bag of rocks. The customer service process is a complicated labyrinth of apparent departments that do not or will not communicate, Your first point of contact always seems to have to have another person look into any issue, And that magical person cannot communicate directly with the customer. I suspect this is by design to find a way to make you go away. There are plenty of electric providers out there. I recommend steering clear of this one.
Ridiculously Expensive
I received a $712 bill from 4Change energy. My bill before this bill was around $350 and I called and complained. My usage did not change and supposedly I am on a fixed rate! This company is bogus! Do not get tricked into becoming a customer, keep looking!
REFUSE TO HONOR THE RENEWAL THEY SENT AFTER 5 YEARS
I have been with 4 change since 2017 and recommended them to many people. When my last contract expired, I click accept on the renewal offer they sent me and assumed everything was taken care of. I was quite surprised to see my bill jump $200 and now they will not honor the rate they sent me. They say they believe I clicked the renewal, but will not honor it because I don't have the confirmation email that they never sent. Now they want to renew my contract for much more per kWh. Way to take care of your customers and not honor the contract I accepted.

I find it sad that your customer service reps said that I will get an early termination fee if I didn't provide them with the PO change of address that I was moving to or a bill from my next electric provider, bill of sale on a house, new lease agreement and a bunch of other things to prove I'm not staying in the same house and just switching electric companies. I don't have to provide ANYTHING.. As I said I am in the Army and ending my time in service. It is against the law for a soldier to be charged fees when they are ordered to a new location. Please take care of this matter and educate your customer service on giving great customer service. Everyone isn't leaving 4Change Energy for another Energy company at their present location. I feel that 4Change Energy wanted proof of why I was canceling my service and that is unacceptable that people are taken as liars until they provide proof that they aren't. Remember all those troops that gave sacrifice and the ultimate sacrifice so Americans can be thought of LIARS until proven otherwise. It really sucks that troops fight for the freedoms so that companies can rip their customers off and over charge for their products. Money is the power of all evil and companies are so worried about losing a buck that they treat the good customers bad. If companies had a great price and treated their customers great, then they wouldn't have to worry about losing customers and they would have more customers than they can handle. Accessed late fees
I was going thru my bills and I noticed that Im getting charged DNP FEE as well as late fee, I ask Alfredo I thought there was grace period he said there is, 10 days then I said if theres "grace period" there shouldnt be charge, Im not even few days after due date, he said its due on 27th after that theres a late fee of $8 charge so THERES NO GRACE PERIOD! THATS A LIE, then I asked what DNP FEE was, he said disconnect fee, which is $20 AGAIN I'm being penalized twice different amounts but for same reason. I looked up online what DNP FEE is and it states if there's disconnect or late fee all electric company's charge $5 except for 4energy. My electric bill for month, usage was $90 then around $50 for taxes, but my bill was $200 with those LATE FEES. I'm really upset and will be switching electric company's.

4Change Energy is literally the worst company to work with. They will rob you also shut off your services even though you sent a check through mail with PROOF because it wouldn't arrive in time....
Also if need assistance with Bill pay they don't offer it unless you have a letter, but then they'll tell you the letter isn't good enough and now they want a copy of the check itself.
But the check itself isn't good enough and want another charge!!! Do yourself a favor and avoid this company.
So after you pay this other charge they didn't tell you now we just have to wait to receive your checks for a confirmation number... They don't mention that part and then if you tell them you want it refunded because there is no point in you paying since with the check goes in you would have overpaid they'll tell you that's fine but it's going to put a $30 chargeback fee on your statement...
Oh and let not forget about charges they don't tell you about...
Oh and even though you send everything they asked you and promised they wouldn't turn off services after receiving turn out that was a lie and they will still turn it off.
Oh and they don't care if you have an infant that uses a medical device that needs electricity to help with breathing.
I really hope they do record these phone calls because I would love for them to listen to the last six!

If I could give zero stars, I would. I did not know this, but they force autopay before the due date. Their agent was very friendly, but never told me that. Who reads long terms and conditions anymore. The first month I paid on time with my credit card and then they began autopay without my permission from 1 to 4 days prior to due date, depending on weekends / holidays.

Generated 13 invoices for a 12 month plan
Who the hell on earth will generate 13 invoices for a 12 month plan?I was in "Easy Saver 12" plan which had $75 for 1-1000kWh. To take the advantage, these guys generated 13 invoices and charged $75 extra intotal. I would not suggest/recommend these kind of service.
Miscommunication and Fault Placed on Customer
Miscommunication about service being cancelled too early and then supervisor failed to communicate the double bill I was going to receive. Opportunity for grace and waive fees was not offered by staff and they were extremely rude over phone.
Buyer Beware
I did not read the reviews of this company before I picked them because it was a great rate I loved the giveback to charity. Now my electric bill has almost tripled and I am not using any more electricity now that I was in the summer. I called and asked if they had any assistance or could explain what is going on and the customer service representative said no sorry it was what I was using and if I waited until the bill was past due they could spread out the payments over three months. That is not assistance as I would still be accumulating the next months bill. I asked if someone could come out and do a reading to make sure it was correct or see if something was pulling more power etc. No that was not an option. I only have a 900sqft house and my bill is over $400 WITH the 1000kWH deduction. I am a single mom with little income and three special needs kids and choosing to keep my house warm or feed me kids is a choice I am now having to make and that is sad. This summer I ran my a/c AND two window units and my bill was 1/3 of what it is now - this is not right. I have contacted my attorney to see how you fight a company that seems fraudulent and when my contract is up in two months I will still fight it because I don't anyone else to go through what I am facing.

I can't get rid of them even though the person that the electric bill is in has been gone for months. They put a hold on this address, so I can switch. They also renewed the plan to a plan that is 5 cents per kWh which is half of my old rate. So now I have to pay 15 cents per kWh. I could be paying less than half of that.

I went to open my e-mail this morning to pay my bill and I have never been so offended! I was one day late and never have been before, and they sent me a disconnection notice! On top of that when I opened my account, they wouldn't allow me to use my bank as I always have, I had to use a credit card. I don't use credit cards to pay bills! The rep was nice but 4 change policy is very offending. One more thing is I've been charged more and more each month. I will never use this company again and I will not recommend them to anyone!

Fraudulent billing
This company will bill you based on weather temperatures rather than real electricity usage. In weeks where there has been nobody at home, we have gotten more electricity usage than weeks where we have been at home. This company is facing several demands in court because of this fraudulent practice! Do yourself a favor and never get a contract with them.

Dont use 4 change energy!
Don't use this company! They signed me up for a completely inappropriate plan which caused me to pay 2X the amount of energy needed. When I called to complain, they refused to adjust my plan. A year later, I received a bill 3x higher than what it should have been. They said it was related to a glitch in their system 7 months ago. When I called to complain, their customer service rep was completely rude. No empathy, no caring. Don't use this company!!!
BEWARE! GO ELSEWHERE
DO NOT SIGN UP WITH THEM! My bill in Texas in August was $406.19. They charged me twice. Once on 08/03 and again on 09/10. A total of $812.38. I called them and they told me to dispute the first charge with my bank. My bank came back and said they fought the dispute, bank would not be able to credit me. They then claimed the money was in limbo and gave me a balance due of $406.19 again after fighting the dispute. Wells Fargo says they have all of the money. Now I risk getting my electricity shut off during the pandemic. CROOKS! Ive called them a half dozen times and they claim they have no record of the first transaction (although they fought the dispute with my bank to keep this money). They told me to email them a screenshot. I sent them a bank statement screen shot and have not heard back. I risk being without power because of this! Go with someone else!

Those people are a bunch of thieves charging hundreds of $$$ for sending notices for disconnections and reconnections that never happened. Best Electric Provider I've Used!
4Change Energy is an amazing electric provider that I have been using for years! Their customer service is beyond any that I have experienced before, their rates are affordable, they care about their eco-footprint, and they even give you an option to donate to a charity of your choice. When the winter storms of Texas 2021 were happening and everyone was losing power, 4Change Energy sent out a warning email and was emailing it's providers with updates and apologies every step of the way. When the war between Russia and Ukraine first began and we all were unsure of how it was or was not going to effect us over here in the US, 4Change Energy sent out another email to keep us all informed on the company's plan and what the war meant for electric providers. I recently had to change providers because of a move that requires me to use a specific electric provider however, that has not stopped 4Change Energy in helping me with every step of the process. I have only been met with kindness, compassion, and understanding. I'm immensely disappointed that I had to leave their service and will return in a heartbeat if given the chance. If this seems a bit silly of a reaction for an electric company, I urge you to give them a try. I will ALWAYS recommend 4Change Energy to any and all that ask.
Poor service
Do not ever use this company. I called several times to make sure my service was cancelled and they still had it active in a place I no longer live. They kept trying to make it seem like I never cancelled and didnt take responsibility for the inconvenience.

Super affordable rates that fit well with our home and budget. Average usage fits perfectly with the $100 bill credit for using over 1,000 kWh which makes the electricity bill very surprising each month. I always end up paying less than I imagine.

Charitable support given monthly and at the customer's choice means the world to me. Next in line are the Green Plans, great price and how prioritized and valued I feel as a customer. They are so easy to contact and do business with, I have never spent hours on hold or felt like I didn't truly matter. In 2021, 4Change sent out an email reassuring customers that it would never take advantage and surge prices in the face of a deadly winter storm that hit Texas. That email has always stuck in my mind, it spoke volumes about what kind of business 4Change is and I am proud to use them daily!

Called to cancel service for my inlaws, seeing that they were moving into my house but they made it impossible. The customer service agents are based overseas and don't speak very good English, they couldn't understand what a store stroke was or washr a"power of attorney " was for. I was moved to a supervisor who said they would look into it and call back. They eventually emailed and told me to call back and i could now speak to a live rep and try to cancel the service now. Tried to call back but it's still a nightmare.

This company is the textbook definition of scam. I wish I could give negative stars on every part. My only regret is falling victim to their disgusting excuse of what they call customer service. They will rob you blind and then good luck getting a hold of anyone who can and is willing to help you come to any sort of reasonable resolution. Absolutely NOT the cheapest
I picked this company following someones suggestion to pick the lowest centage plan, as there are too many plans with too many deals. During the phone call requesting new connection, I was told I would be given a $25 gift card and so would the person that referred me. Despite my friend telling me that the company never seems to follow through on that, I went ahead and got the friends account details only to see neither of us got it (7 months since then). Neither did my friend that I referred to following that. Moreover, their cheapest centage deal still gets me upwards of $150 monthly bill even when I dont use AC below 74F (on most days not even below 76F). Their deal of $100 credit upon usage of $1000KWh or more is almost impossible to achieve, as somehow it goes close to 990 KWh but never quite 1000. Im only waiting to end my service period to get rid of this plan.

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, NO CONCERN AT ALL FOR CUSTOMER
4Change Energy Customer service is terrible. It takes a long time to get someone on the line, then you can barely understand them, and on top of that there's an echo on the line. I've used 4Change Energy for more than 2 years with no issues. I've always paid on time. In that time I've never used more than 1,000 KWh in a mo. This billing period, however, they say I used 2,091 KWh!! My electricity usage was normal for the month...There's reason at all (from my end) for my bill to show I used more than double the norm. They were NO HELP AT ALL in getting this disparity resolved. The only thing they did was request a new meter read from Centerpoint. They told me it would take between 5 to 7 days, and that they'd contact me with the results. They didn't contact me for 10 days so I finally called them. They told me the meter read request confirmed the usage, and that they had the results several days ago. The 4Change Energy Rep told me there was nothing else they could do, and offered me no solution, even though I was adamant I couldn't have used that many KWh in one month.I called Centerpoint, again, and they offered to do a physical meter test, but that will take 15 days, and the bill is due. I know I didn't use that much electricity in one month. NO WAY. But as a customer no one cares. 4Change Energy is terrible. I requested to speak with a Manager, and the 4Change representative said there are none available, and that I would have to wait for up 24 hours for one to call me (at their convenience). Terribly frustrating. Terrible customer service. I would NOT recommend anyone use 4Change Energy.

I had a Bill w/4ChangeEnergy for $302 b/c I am being charged $180 for switching to a much cheaper provider. I informed them I am a 66 yr old unemployed senior citizen and I don't have $180 just laying around for this BS charge, so I requested to be put on a payment plan to pay, over a 3 month period, paying a $100 a month. The very 1st day they withdrew the entire $302, causing my other checks to bounce and have me charged additional fees by my bank. When I called to confront them to ask "what happened to my payment arrangement"? I was told, "sorry there's nothing they can do"!From a former customer, listen to a seasoned veteran of this provider. DO NOT, get 4 Change Energy. They were the 2nd most expensive of the 76 providers I had to chose from.When I looked at other providers (I never choose them in the 1st place) the apartment people did.DO NOT GET 4 CHANGE ENERGY!If my finger wouldn't hurt so bad, I would type it a 100xHave a WONDERFUL day!(The only thing that won't make it WONDERFUL, is getting 4CHANGEENERGY.

After 3 years as a satisfied customer, I can report that while the Company Billing and Account Management has been a disappointment recently although Customer Service has declined only slightly in quality. They were quick to point out the terms of the contract that allowed them to charge $1.20 kw/h for Final Billing, although they did not bother to notify me of renewal or even a competitive rate change for an existing customer which was in complete defiance of the same terms of contract. They have become deceptive this will drive desirable customers away from such a business quickly and their ratings will undoubtedly reduce further. Veterans Energy is another holding of the same company so be wary.

Why We Renewed our Service with 4Change Energy
We trust 4Change Energy to have the lowest prices for our electricity. When given the chance to renew for another 24 at the same low rate as new customers, we were very pleased to do so.

Took almost 7 days of this to only find out they are okay with overcharging me and not crediting me for two months. Clearly they do not care about their customers, I wish I had read more reviews before signing up with this company.

4Change Energy cares only for 4 Change EnergyIn my one year of dealing with them they deliberately mishandled prompt bill payment as an excuse to arbitrarily raise our contract rate. Bill payment through my Credit Union occurred on time. However, one week after the bill was due 4 Change told me they would be cutting off my electricity for lack of payment. A week after that they found the prompt payment from my Credit Union AFTER I had paid the bill directly. They did that twice.When my contract was coming due they sent an E-mail warning me it would expire with an auto renew button. What they failed to say was the new 2-year contract was at a rate of .17 cents per kilowatt hour when the current rate was .13 cents per kilowatt hour. Further when you go online to choose other providers they are offering .11 cents per kilowatt hour.They are dishonest thieves
EXPENSIVE
This company is ridiculously expensive. My second bill was around $360. I complained, and my third bill was over $700. Their customer service is terrible! I got the runaround on all interactions. I hate this company. I do not recommend them at all.
Thumbs down for customer service on move out
I emailed 4change on my moveout date of 06/19/2022 requesting that my service be cancelled, immediately. The next cycle start was 06/20/2022. I received a receipt acknowledgement email that same date however, service was not cancelled and they did not notify me of this until 06/22/2022 at which time they charged me a another whole month's cycle charge. The service would not have been cancelled at that time except that they received an order for service from someone else. I have emailed back and forth with them insisting I pay the full month of charges for after I moved out and notified them to cancel, and when I try to call their office, I get an "office closed" message.

Billing
If you have a billing issue forget it. These people are dumber than a bag of rocks. The customer service process is a complicated labyrinth of apparent departments that do not or will not communicate, Your first point of contact always seems to have to have another person look into any issue, And that magical person cannot communicate directly with the customer. I suspect this is by design to find a way to make you go away. There are plenty of electric providers out there. I recommend steering clear of this one.
Ridiculously Expensive
I received a $712 bill from 4Change energy. My bill before this bill was around $350 and I called and complained. My usage did not change and supposedly I am on a fixed rate! This company is bogus! Do not get tricked into becoming a customer, keep looking!
REFUSE TO HONOR THE RENEWAL THEY SENT AFTER 5 YEARS
I have been with 4 change since 2017 and recommended them to many people. When my last contract expired, I click accept on the renewal offer they sent me and assumed everything was taken care of. I was quite surprised to see my bill jump $200 and now they will not honor the rate they sent me. They say they believe I clicked the renewal, but will not honor it because I don't have the confirmation email that they never sent. Now they want to renew my contract for much more per kWh. Way to take care of your customers and not honor the contract I accepted.

First of all, I never signed a 3-year agreement with 4Change Energy as my provider and have never and would never sign a contract for an Energy service. My electric was set up by a rep at my property managers location. I find it sad that your customer service reps said that I will get an early termination fee if I didn't provide them with the PO change of address that I was moving to or a bill from my next electric provider, bill of sale on a house, new lease agreement and a bunch of other things to prove I'm not staying in the same house and just switching electric companies. I don't have to provide ANYTHING.. As I said I am in the Army and ending my time in service. It is against the law for a soldier to be charged fees when they are ordered to a new location. Please take care of this matter and educate your customer service on giving great customer service. Everyone isn't leaving 4Change Energy for another Energy company at their present location. I feel that 4Change Energy wanted proof of why I was canceling my service and that is unacceptable that people are taken as liars until they provide proof that they aren't. Remember all those troops that gave sacrifice and the ultimate sacrifice so Americans can be thought of LIARS until proven otherwise. It really sucks that troops fight for the freedoms so that companies can rip their customers off and over charge for their products. Money is the power of all evil and companies are so worried about losing a buck that they treat the good customers bad. If companies had a great price and treated their customers great, then they wouldn't have to worry about losing customers and they would have more customers than they can handle. Long-term customer
We have used 4Change Energy for more than 5 years. They offer great update plans, provide weekly usage info, and have helpful customer service staff. Plus they give back to the community!
Accessed late fees
I was going thru my bills and I noticed that Im getting charged DNP FEE as well as late fee, I ask Alfredo I thought there was grace period he said there is, 10 days then I said if theres "grace period" there shouldnt be charge, Im not even few days after due date, he said its due on 27th after that theres a late fee of $8 charge so THERES NO GRACE PERIOD! THATS A LIE, then I asked what DNP FEE was, he said disconnect fee, which is $20 AGAIN I'm being penalized twice different amounts but for same reason. I looked up online what DNP FEE is and it states if there's disconnect or late fee all electric company's charge $5 except for 4energy. My electric bill for month, usage was $90 then around $50 for taxes, but my bill was $200 with those LATE FEES. I'm really upset and will be switching electric company's.

Really happy with the company!
Prices are very consistent. Earlier in the year there were spikes and it turned out to be my thermostat. Once we changed, prices have saturated low, in the same range, and its a relief not having to try to manipulate my energy intake to keep the price low. Also! Really happy with the renewal experience and that they give you a period to renew with the same low price as the first year. Recommend!

4Change Energy is literally the worst company to work with. They will rob you also shut off your services even though you sent a check through mail with PROOF because it wouldn't arrive in time....
Also if need assistance with Bill pay they don't offer it unless you have a letter, but then they'll tell you the letter isn't good enough and now they want a copy of the check itself.
But the check itself isn't good enough and want another charge!!! Do yourself a favor and avoid this company.
So after you pay this other charge they didn't tell you now we just have to wait to receive your checks for a confirmation number... They don't mention that part and then if you tell them you want it refunded because there is no point in you paying since with the check goes in you would have overpaid they'll tell you that's fine but it's going to put a $30 chargeback fee on your statement...
Oh and let not forget about charges they don't tell you about...
Oh and even though you send everything they asked you and promised they wouldn't turn off services after receiving turn out that was a lie and they will still turn it off.
Oh and they don't care if you have an infant that uses a medical device that needs electricity to help with breathing.
I really hope they do record these phone calls because I would love for them to listen to the last six!

We were referred to 4 Change and have not had any reason to regret it. Unlike most companies, when it is time to renew, we get the same bargain deal they offer to new customers, instead of charging us more.
Awful Customer Service
I was trying to speak to a person about my bill. The lady was very rude and she would not listen to what I was trying to say. The lady was very defensive and should not be working in customer service. She begin explaining my bill and I could not understand what she was saying. So I tried to interrupt her to see if she would start over. After saying, excuse me multiple times, she just kept on talking. She has an accent, but I could understand some of what she was saying. I was going to ask her if she could start again from the beginning, because I could not follow her because I had no Idea of what she had already said.
Dissatisfied Customer
I switched electric providers, due to the high bills I was receiving w/ my previous provider, only to receive an even higher bill with this provider. I received a $236 bill for one month of service. I love in a 2 bedroom apt, which is less than 1200 square feet. I really question the legitimacy of charges and billing. When I contacted customer service regarding bill, the customer service rep was unable to provide a valid explanation of the charges. She was rude and discourteous. I left the call even more agitated than I began. I can't wait for the end of my contract, so that I can switch providers. If I continue to receive $230 bills, I am considering paying to exit my contract and services with this company.
They force autopay before the due date
If I could give zero stars, I would. I did not know this, but they force autopay before the due date. Their agent was very friendly, but never told me that. Who reads long terms and conditions anymore. The first month I paid on time with my credit card and then they began autopay without my permission from 1 to 4 days prior to due date, depending on weekends / holidays.

I am going on my 3rd year with 4Change Energy. I have been extremely pleased with their service. Absolutely honest and fair company. Beyond that, my contracts are 12 months and they always surprise me at renewal time and offer my exactly what they would their new customers. I use about 1000 kw (give or take a few) and my bill in the winter is about 80-90 dollars and about 90-110 in the Summer for a 2000 square foot home. They are absolutely an amazing company. I definitely would refer friends and family to use them as an electric provider.

Weve had 4change for 3 1/2 years and every month Im amazed. We went from TXU paying over $400 a month, every month, to paying no more than $160 a month, since. Our bill was $137 last month and I have an electric car. Challenged myself 3 1/2 years ago, to see how low my bills would go and boy, I was really excited on how much money I saved, then and now. Pay less for saving electricity
I became a customer of 4 Change Energy because I had been with Reliant for about 10 years but it seemed any savings were for folks who use more than 2000 kw a month so I wanted a company that rewards you for using less energy instead of making you pay more if you use less. Plus paying the bill online is super easy and their customer service is top notch.

Never Disappointed
I switched to 4energychange.com to find a reliable and responsible rate. At first my rate was 5.5 cents. Now living in Texas with the heat it was pricey to go with Reliant, TxU, or even some of the other companies that claim free night and weekends or even with green energy. Lets face it electric is a must and it is expensive especially in the South. However, this company is awesome. In a year I have never paid over $250.00 monthly. Yes, even with running my AC and window units to a cool 71 degrees. And in the winter I have never paid over $150.00. I could lower it further in the summer but I just cant handle the humidity and heat. This company is amazing. I just renewed my rate at 6.5 cents with a $90.00 bill credit after 1000kw. There is no usage fees attached. I give them 10 stars for taking care of the customers and working hard to keep the rates low.

They saved me just before the February 2021 freeze, as a previous customer, they had me switched back to their service in less than 2 hours, just in time before the hard freeze hit Texas. I'm forever grateful, and will stay with them forever.

They charge the contract term without advise and charge me for 1492 kWh, 160, now for only 942 kWh 148.00.

We've had a great experience with 4Change Energy. They send a weekly email with your usage and an estimate of your monthly kW usage. This is helpful when planning for expected bills.
Doesn't Reward Customer Loyalty and Harasses at Renewal Time
They wanted to raise my rates and wouldn't sustain the current plan I had for the current year. Once I decided to change service, they harassed me and indicated they were willing to keep my current rate structure. I said no to repeated calls and e-mails and then they automatically decided to renew me although I had already chosen a new vendor. I really question the ethics of a company to do this when I was on record that I did not want to renew
RIP OFF
I signed up for the Easy Saver12 plan. My last bill, which was for 8 days, they charged me the full $85.00. Do not sign up with this company. They do not tell you that your plan and your billing cycle do not match up. I had to pay for 22 days I did not use their service.

Spent 1/2 a day dealing with customer service to change power from a temp pole to a newly built home. They never got it, had to change provider to make it happen.

They have no idea how to bill correctly
First of all, they have issues with their billing system. They sent out a couple of extra bills mid month and it was scheduled to be withdrawn from my account until I called to have them cancel it.
Their email correspondence is also atrocious. They automatically send you a reply saying our team will get back to you in 24-48 hours but I have yet to have one respond in that time frame if they even respond at all. On top of the slow responses, the email was full of typos. It also seems like they say things like we have resolved the issue but then I am still billed incorrectly and have to call to fix it anyway. It makes me doubt the credibility of this business. Their prices are alright. I couldve went with a different plan to better match my needs at a cheaper price but there was no point in doing that afterwards and getting stuck with a cancellation fee. My service was interrupted like everybody elses during the Texas Freeze and whenever power lines went down but then it was up to AEP to fix it.

Nice people in customer service. Fun easy going company with to do business. Lots of information to monitor your account presented in a easy to understand format. My 5th year to be with them. I compared to others and they always came out on top!

Good prices
I have been with 4Change for several years now and have never had issues. I have the Free Energy 12 Plan which gives me an Average Total Price of 7.5¢/kWh at 1,000 kWh. This is the best plan for cooling my 1700 square foot house, with one well maintained air conditioning unit outside and furnace in the attic. The pricing works like this: for the first 500kWh I pay 11 cents per. Then the next 500 kWh are free, followed by the last 500 kwh at 11 cents per. I never use more than 1500kWh.Depending on how much electricity you use you CAN save $$ with this plan.

I have been with 4 Change Energy for years and I have never had any issues. When that terrible snow storm hit Texas, I was not affected by crazy prices at all, but I was on a fixed rate plan. I fell behind a little bit on the bill, but I paid what I could and my electricity was never turned off. I am now caught up, but I had peace of mind knowing that they were working with me. When companies treat you right, it makes you want to treat them right.

Do not use this company
I thought this company would do the right thing, but they dont. You call and ask questions, you have issues and they dont want to make it right even when here Customer service person is responsible for allowing you to think one thing in regards to your account. Then when you call to get assistance they want to blame you. Do not use this company they have horribly high rates and crappy customer service.
Low Cost with Great Service
I have been a 4Change Energy Customer since 2018. Their customer service is phenomenal and made the process of switching so seamless. I have looked around for other rates every year at renewal, but they always come out with the best price. I also love that every week, I get an estimated usage with a bill estimate, so I know what to expect when the bill comes. I highly recommend them to everyone.
4ChangeEnergy Is Worth A Look
You know that feeling you've been forgotten after signing up for phone service, cable or electricity and the billing starts? You won't get that from 4Change. From setup to billing and contract renewal their service has been seamless. And the savings don't end with the first contract term. For the third time I've renewed my contract at better rates, particularly in the under 500kw usage band than were available from competitor RECs.

I am 74 and living on SS so l have to watch every penny. l have tried 4 previous providers, and had broken promises, "fine print exclusions", and locked into providers that lied about my usage (one charged me $357.00 for one month) for a small 1 bedroom house! Thank God l found 4ChangeEnergy! My bill ranges from $58.00 to $86.00 per month. So take it from me and avoid all the headaches and use 4Change! l was also able to lock in my current rate for the next 2 years!!
